Seems to be more of a psychiatric disorder probably somatoform disorder but cannot comment without detailed history and clinical examination and review of reports. Better to follow up with a single physician to observe and advise accordingly. Sometimes, all symptoms of a disease do not show up at one time only.

Your husband maybe most probably suffering from gastritis or gastro esophageal reflux disease. He has to avoid spicy and fried foods. Also avoid junk food and fast food. If your problems are worse, you need to take an ecg and take medications.. It could also be an infection in the lung.

Weight reduction is the main treatment in our case. The weight above 100 can be now cured by bariatric surgery. So think for it and you can plan accordingly.

Stroke - 6 Myths Decoded!

Diploma in Diabetology, MBBS
Endocrinologist, Amravati
Stroke - 6 Myths Decoded!

Stroke affects the arteries that lead to the brain. This serious, life-threatening condition happens when blood supply to a part of the brain gets cut off.

Many myths surround this medical condition :

Myth 1: Only older people suffer from strokes

This isn't true - young people can experience strokes as well. About a quarter of stroke cases are reported by people aged 65 and below. More importantly, irrespective of the age group, the warning signs are the same; it is only in response that differences can be found between younger and older people.

Myth 2: Women don't suffer from strokes

The opposite is true. It is women who suffer strokes more often than men. This is because women tend to live longer than men whose longevity gets affected by heart disease. Since they live longer than men, they tend to be more vulnerable to strokes.

Myth 3: Strokes can't be prevented

Through changes in your lifestyle, strokes can easily be prevented. You can reduce your chances of getting a stroke by having a balanced diet, exercising, keeping an optimum body weight and limiting alcohol consumption as well as quitting smoking. Moreover, up to 80% stroke cases can be prevented by leading a healthy lifestyle.

Myth 4: Strokes aren't easy to recognise

Strokes can be easily diagnosed through the Face, Arm, Speech and Time test (FAST). If you suffer from slurred speech, facial droop or numbness on one side of the body, you're said to suffer from a stroke.

Myth 5: Strokes are similar to one another

This is another misconception about stroke. No two strokes are the same. While certain strokes happen when blood flow to the brain gets interrupted, there are others that take place when blood vessels in the brain get ruptured. Recovery depends on the extent of damage, the type of stroke and your health condition before the occurrence.

Myth 6: Strokes are a form of heart attack

Although strokes and heart attacks are closely related, they are not the same. In strokes, blood supply to the brain gets interrupted; on the other hand, in heart attacks, blood supply to the heart gets severely affected. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult an Endocrinologist.

Hello Sir/Madam. I would like to know whether bypass surgery has any side effects? I require the info for my dad.
No side effects, it is like any other major surgery on bones, joints or complicated abdominal surgeries but the fear factors about heart by pass surgery are a lot more though the mortality rate is only 1% and technology is advanced. You need to go to a good centre with reputation.

Hi lybrate-user Set goals– Its important to set a goal to reach the goal, without a specific goal in mind you do not reach anywhere Have a plan -Before beginning your journey towards healthy weight , have a plan ready to follow and try to follow it as much as you can. Chew food well– Half of the digestion happens in your mouth, when food mixes well with your saliva, teeth are there for chewing food well, don’t just gulp your food down the throat, few not well digested can also lead to gaining weight Eat slowly, eat mindfully– Eating slowly and giving attention to what you eat helps you to digest your food well and also helps you enjoy the process of eating Eat vegetables with every meal- It is important to include vegetables in form of salads, soups or sabji with every meal, vegetables are good sources of vitamins and minerals plus are low in calories, it helps give feeling of satiety. Eat protein with every meal– Protein are important part of our diet, they help increase our metabolism and also help to repair wear and tear of body muscles. A diet with required amount of lean proteins aids in weight loss Cook at home– Avoid outside foods, they are high in not so good fats, colours, salt and preservatives. Learn to read labels – It is very important to know what goes into the food you eat, some of the things, like hidden fats and sugars can infact make you overweight Avoid foods with high salt content – They may lead to water retention Start eating healthy not dieting– Choose your foods well, learn what is good for you and your body and what is not Love your body- It has been working to keep you working day and night, it needs good attention from you too. Give it real and nourishing foods Sleep well- Lack of sleep leads to gaining weight Keep stress at bay– Being stress can be one of the reason for weight gain. Do not be discouraged , weight loss takes time and quick fixes are not long lasting Never lose sight of your goal. Avoid drinking calories – Avoid drinks high in sugars and calories. Exercise Regularly Do not binge eat after diet slip ups– We are all humans and are subject to err, its natural to slip up sometimes, but that does not mean we fail, we can get back to eating healthy the next moment. Last but not the least- Get up and follow now what you have read. Wish you good luck.

Best way to control BP and wt shud my diet chart as I had encountered heart attack and im a heart patient.
Dear, *mild exercise regularly, *eat a healthy diet eating a diet that is rich in whole grains, fruits, vegetables and low-fat dairy products and skimps on saturated fat and cholesterol can lower your blood pressure *consider boosting potassium. Potassium can lessen the effects of sodium on blood pressure. The best source of potassium is food, such as fruits and vegetables, rather than supplements. *reduce sodium in your diet *caffeine can raise blood pressure by as much as 10 mm hg in people who rarely consume it, but there is little to no strong effect on blood pressure in habitual coffee drinkers. *reduce your stress *get support supportive family and friends can help improve your health. They may encourage you to take care of yourself, drive you to the doctor's office or embark on an exercise program with you to keep your blood pressure low.
