I am 82 years old male. I am suffering from left knee arthritic pain. I have been managing with homoeopathy and pain killers. Now, the pain is becoming worse, making it difficult for me to walk. I want to avoid surgery. Have you any advice?

Hello 82 is a ave where your knee joint gets eroded a lot which leads to tremendous pain when you walk or climbs stairs. Hence you need to take care of your knee in order to decrease the joint loading by unloading it, the way to unload it, is to keep it hydrated by sitting at the edge of the couch/bed and tie a 2 kg weight cuff at the ankle and move/swing your knee in easy gentle low amplitude oscillations for ten minutes twice daily. Wear a knee brace with hinge daily when you are off the bed. Have lots of fresh fruits specially citrus fruits. Have anjeer four piece twice daily. Avoid lady finger, spicy foods, avoid peas, brinjal and tomatoes. Avoid mustard oil. Avoid tobacco in any form (if at all you consume) do knee strengthening (quadriceps, vmo, gluteus, tfl, hamsrings) exercises and hamstring and quadriceps stretching. Quadriceps drill. Partial squatting (30-40 degree bend) if your knee permits. If possible visit a skilled orthopedic physiotherapist. Hope it helps. Take care.

Thanks for the query. When diabetes goes on for very long time (many years), most often the insulin producing beta cell activity goes down. So in many patients oral drugs may not be effective. Secondly if blood glucose remains high, that also causes damage to beta cells. Hence diabetes becomes totally uncontrolled. So in your case there has to be a re-look at the present treatment. Plus we will also have to look at diet and extent of daily exercise and weight reduction. So if you want me to guide specifically and also prescribe the drugs, then you need to come in a private conversation following details: current fasting, PP blood glucose level, HbA1c% exact dosage of medications and present diet as well as extent of exercise being done daily. Then I will be able to help. Thanks.

5 Afterplay Moves To End It With A Bang

5 Afterplay Moves To End It With A Bang

It is generally assumed that after sexual intercourse, men more often tend to doze off immediately, leaving the women not entirely satisfied, primarily because of less foreplay and after play action. These assumptions are, however, not entirely wrong and there are many ways with which one can prove this.

Here are a few tips whereby you can reverse this and end it with a bang

  1. The traditional belief that men are more emotionally detached after intercourse than women is inherently true in most cases and the best way to prevent your man from snoozing immediately after sex is to hold him tight and snuggle up. Being held feels good and right for both sexes, and is also an effective way of retaining heat.
  2. A great way of prolonging that physical intimacy after sexual intercourse is by giving your man a smooth massage. Perhaps you can lighten up his senses by slowly tracing circles on his torso or by gradually moving over and around the navel areas confidently and sensuously.
  3. By way of suggesting a bath or shower after sex, you are, in a way, inviting him and yourself for another possible orgasmic session. After taking turns in scrubbing each other's backs, necks and shoulders, you can proceed with moving along towards other parts of the body. Furthermore, a hot and wet-nude environment eventually supports a post-orgasmic flush.
  4. Oral sex is yet another invigorating way of sustaining the erotic process. Paying more attention to the area around the anus as well as the area around the clitoris is always an effective method to 'end it with a bang'.
  5. You could also try paying him compliments or whispering and breathing romance into his ears with stuff like, "I love you", or "I desire you", accompanied by light sexual caresses - as long as it prevents him from snoozing!

I am sleeping exactly 6 hrs a day considering the sleep cycles. I am used to this routine from 1 month usually between 11.30 pm to 5.30 am. From last week when I sleep for 1 nd half hour or 3 hours in the evening. I am waking soon (without alarm) after my remaining sleep cycles are completed without dizziness. If I sleep for 1 nd half hour in the evening, I am waking around 4.10 am. If I sleep for 3 hrs, I am waking around 2.30 am. If I sleep only for 20 min (short nap ), I didn't find any sleep disturbance until 5.30 am. I am sleeping in the evening because I was being tired after continuous classes in my college. Can I continue this? Is this routine good? If not what should I do if awakened before my alarm which will be at 5.30 am. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE.

Follow these simple steps to ensure a good sleep every night and stay away from sleep disorders and other health problems associated with unhealthy sleep habits: 1) maintain a regular sleep routine - try to get at least 6 to 7 hours of uninteruppted sleep at night time Go to bed at the same time. Wake up at the same time. Ideally, your schedule will remain the same (+/- 20 minutes) every Night of the week. A good sleep hygiene routine promotes healthy sleep and daytime alertness. 2) avoid sleeping during the daytime. It can disturb the normal pattern. 3) avoid caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol near bedtime. While alcohol may speed the onset of sleep, it creates problems in he second half of sleep. 4) exercise can promote good sleep. Exercise should be taken in the morning or late afternoon. Yoga, can be done before bed to help. 5) have a quiet, comfortable bedroom. Set your bedroom thermostat at a comfortable temperature. Generally, a little cooler is better than a little warmer. Turn off the tv and other extraneous noise that may disrupt sleep. Background 'white noise' like a fan is ok. If your pets awaken you, keep them outside the bedroom. Your bedroom should be dark. Turn off bright lights. Have a comfortable mattress. 6) avoid heavy meals close to bedtime. 7) ensure adequate exposure to natural light. 8) avoid emotionally upsetting conversations and activities before trying to go to sleep. Do not think of, or bring your problems to bed. 9) stop using all your digital devices and stop looking at digital screens be it mobile phones or televisions at least 1 hour before the time you plan to sleep. Instead try reading a fiction book near bedtime so it makes you help relaxed and de-stressed. Sleep well live healthy and live longer. If you have tried all these and still have problems, please consult me for prescription medication.

Dear lybrate-user, Since you are relieving your stools, it is fine. Try to check on the amount of water you intake, approximately you need to consume 2.5 liters of water daily. Try to take more fibrous food, like fruits and vegetables. Do some exercises such as brisk walk, jogging for 30-60 minutes daily. If you still have a problem after 10 days, please consult a general physician.
