8 Healthy Hacks for the Hot Summer Season

8 Healthy Hacks for the Hot Summer Season

There are few things more exhausting or more irritating than the four month long Indian summer. With soaring temperatures and the sun raging outside, mangoes and lychees don't seem like much of a silver lining.

So, here are 8 health hacks that will make your summer a little better:

  1. Replace soft drinks with water: When you are out on the streets or sweating at home, a sweet fizzy drink does seem tempting but try resisting and have a glass of sparkling water instead. The preservatives and chemicals in the soft drinks do nothing to help your metabolism, which is slowed down by dehydration. Add a bit of lemon juice if only water does not appeal to you.
  2. Try yoghurt instead of ice cream: The primary difference between the two is that one contains cream and the other does not. Yoghurt is lighter and has lesser fat content. Excess fat consumption during summer actually makes you sweat more.
  3. Use honey instead of butter: Butter like cream has a heavy fat content and your metabolism (which is slower in summer to retain water in the body) takes longer to break fat down. So, ditch butter this summer and spread some honey on your crunchy breakfast toast.
  4. Stock up on cucumber: Cucumber is an underrated blessing. You can munch on them anytime you like without worrying about calorie intake or stomach aches. Rubbing some cucumber on your skin can soothe sunburns and itches.
  5. Aloe Vera can work wonders: You must have heard about the boon that aloe vera is when it comes to skincare. It is the best solution to nasty sunburns, especially aloe vera gel frozen in small Ziploc bags, can heal burns and prevent skin peeling and chaffing.
  6. Lower the pH value of your skin: Application of citrus fruit juices like apples and lemons or vinegar can lower the pH value of our skin and prevent the multiplication of bacteria. This keeps both sweat and body odor away much more effectively than deodorants.
  7. Make small sacrifices in terms of diet: Some of your favorite things like coffee, alcohol, spicy food, sugar and cigarettes are best consumed minimally in summer because they all aggravate the functioning of the apocrine glands and cause sweat and body odor.
  8. Shower before you workout: One of the good things about summer might be that you have an excuse to skip work out. But, if you start with a cold shower or a swim, or keep a cold, wet towel round your neck, workout can be surprisingly refreshing. You can do the same after your workout,  it lowers the body temperature and cooling the muscles can heal soreness very quickly.

I am 19 years old. I have typhoid I want to know what can I eat n what cannot? What can I drink and what cannot?

PDDM, MHA, MBBS
General Physician, Nashik
Drink plenty of fluids as this helps to prevent dehydration which occurs due to high fever and diarrhea. Individuals, who suffer from severe dehydration, may have to receive fluids intravenously. It is also important to follow a healthy diet. Nutritional deficiencies can easily develop due to the illness and hence you need to consume high-calorie, nutritious meals. Home remedies for typhoid include honey and water. Add some honey to warm water and drink this, as this soothes the digestive tract. Honey also supplies energy to the body.

In some cases doctor can turn the baby by physical pressure but probably it is late now. If does not turn by delivery it is safer to deliver by caesarean operation though accepting higher risk for baby can be deliverd from vagina.

How to stop masturbation? I do it 4 to 5 times in a day. Please suggest me how to stop it?

How to stop masturbation? I do it 4 to 5 times in a day. Please suggest me how to stop it?
To curb your sexual desires, you have to do more to think less. Channel all those feelings into something that will keep your mind off sex and then, get busy. You can read books, go out with friends, watch movies, learn new things etc. Transfer your urges into something you have always wanted to do. At the end of the day, you would have successfully managed not to think about sex and you will also be satisfied at the things you did. If one of those hobbies trigger a sexual response in you and you are feeling aroused, do not masturbate. Think of non-sexual images or take a long walk.. Engage your body in exercise that will keep you busy and keep you from feeling frustrated from not having sex. You can jog in the morning, swim or hit the gym. You can also try yoga and other exercise that will help stimulate both mind and body. If you feel like you can't control it all by yourself, you can talk to your doctor, pastor, parents, close relative or friends. Sometimes, having someone to talk to about how you feel helps better than trying to curb it all by yourself. Who knows, the person you want to meet may have had difficulty curbing his own desires too. What then is better than learning from someone?s experience. Don't be shy or scared of being judged. getting spiritual help, it?s important to note that if you are being taught that sex is bad and it wrong, you won?t have much comfort there and it will only push you deeper into your urges. Get spiritual help that engages your mind in spiritual activities that are far from sex. Being around people pursuing the same goal as you, especially in chastity can also be a strong supportive measure. That way you have someone holding your hands all the way. As you would handle the viruses on your system, so should you handle the thoughts of sex, especially when you are trying so hard to be chaste. Tackle your thoughts before it translates into an action you may regret later

Sir I have starting a problem of stammer. So pls give me a best solution to remove it my life. Pls sir.

BASM, MD, MS (Counseling & Psychotherapy), MSc - Psychology, Certificate in Clinical psychology of children and Young People, Certificate in Psychological First Aid, Certificate in Positive Psychology
Psychologist, Palakkad
Dear Pranshul, Stammering is "speaking with sudden involuntary pauses and a tendency to repeat the initial letters of words" or "say something with difficulty, repeating the initial letters of words and with sudden involuntary pauses". Stammering could be due to two reasons. One. Vocal chord misalignment. Two. Psychological performance anxiety. First of all you should consult an ENT Specialist and evaluate your vocal chords. If there is problem, ENT specialist will be able to correct it. If there is no problem with your vocal chords, You should consult a psychologist for stammer therapy. Take care.
