Hye, Thanks for the query. Gaining weight requires you to eat more calories than you burn. Although fried or sugary foods are calorie dense, eating them exclusively won’t provide enough nutrition to keep you energetic and healthy. Eating several meals and snacks throughout the day and including nutritious, calorie-dense food will help you gain weight healthfully. Weight gain depends primarily on your genetics, age, weight and activity level. To gain weight, you need to eat more calories than you burn. If you’re not used to eating large quantities of food at one time, you may find it difficult to fit all of your calories into three meals per day. Eating nutritious, calorie-dense foods every two to three hours will help you get your calories in without making you overly full and sluggish. If you tend to forget to eat or are always on the go, bring calorie-dense snacks such as eggs, mixed nuts, fruits and dairy. Nutritious, calorie-dense foods provide essential vitamins and minerals, which promote good health and energy. Adding ghee and cream to foods adds additional calories for very little extra physical bulk. Fruit juice, masala milk provides crucial nutrients. Meal-replacement shakes and protein powder sound like good options but also remember that unless your diet is not planned sadly they won't help.

Hair loss below knee on legs, is it serious concern? I am suffering from diabetes but it's under control H1bc is between 6.5 - 7 since it has been detected. As a diabetic I am concerned if a hair loss on legs is something to worry? What causes leg amputation and gangrene in diabetes? Please suggest.

Well hair loss in lower leg mainly cause by poor circulation which may aggravate by diabetes,, thyroid,, peripheral arterial disease,,poor diet,, medication,, smoking,,lack of exercise,,this are main cause

The average weight should be 1 kg for 1 inch of height. Plus or minus 2-4 kgs. According to your height it should be around 65-70 kgs.

Hello Doctor, I am 24 years old boy. I am suffering from dandruff, thinning of hairs and hair fall. In my teenage, I had thick and strong hairs but they started greying so I shaved my head and when new hairs grow up, I found greying of hairs was stopped but my hairs have become thin and since then (almost 6 years), I have been suffering from hair fall and dandruff even when I use expensive hair Oil and shampoo like Kesh King, Dr. Batra, Livon and Head and Shoulder but still my hair fall is not stopping. I also noticed that when I was a teenager, my hairs used to grow rapidly. I had to take haircut every month but now my hairs grow really slow, I get a haircut in 75-80 days. Kindly prescribe me some method and medicines so that my hair fall should get stopped otherwise I am gonna get bald very soon if this continues. Thanks.

Hi. It is common to have dandruff on the scalp. But it can become troublesome if its severe. Dandruff occurs due to increase in certain hormones. U may use antidandruff shampoos containing anti fungal agents on alternate days. It is better to avoid hair oils as they increase dandruff. It is normal to have hairfall of about 50 to 100 hairs per day and they will grow back. You have to worry only if you are losing more than 100 hairs a day. If you are losing more than 100 hairs a day, it can be due to your dandruff. Take care of ndruff and your hairfall will get controlled, if it does not improve then we may have to do some blood tests and examine your scalp to know the exact cause.

Hello According to your height and weight your BMI shown you are underweight .I need to know your activity level or sports days in week. You can join gym, get well balanced and high protein diet to gain your muscle mass. You do not need to get medicine for weight gain just eat healthy foods. Here are quick tips. You can apply these home remedies for relief: • Take 1/2 piece of ginger, crush it and squze its juice and mix it with one teaspoon of honey and take 1/2 spoon of this mixture 2 times in a day. • Take 4 - 5 tulsi leaves and 1/2 piece of ginger and 1 glass of water mix both of them in water and boil it till half glass of water remain in the container then drink it by add 1/2 teaspoon of sugar. • Avoid cold water, ice creams, and pickle. • Take strepsils or sualiin (hamdard pharma) 1 tablet 3 times per day or slowly suck a piece of mulethi. • Doing gargles with lukewarm water it will reduce your pain.
