Hello, Homoeopathic medicines are less invasive and have more herbal approach towards gaining the weight. There are a number of homoeopathic medicines, which treat the root cause behind the body’s inability to gain weight or bulk up. 1. Take alfalfa tonic (wsi), 2 – 2 tsp. Thrice a day, half an hour before meals. 2. Calcarea phos 200, 5 drops, once in aweek, morning empty stomach for 2 weeks. 3. Take eggs, milk, butter, bananas, potatoes, mangoes, figs, oats, soyabean and dry fruits. 4. Do light exercises regularly to keep your body active. These homoeopathic medicines and dietary addition will increase your appetite and give your metabolism a healthy boost. ***If you do not get results with this treatment then please revert me I will suggest you to go through some tests.*** Thanks.

First of all congratulations for losing such a bit, but as I can see that your present wt is 112 which is still on a higher side. Hence the diet which you should take should be balanced and adequate in all the nutrients required by the body. Sometimes during the process of losing weight we tend to oversee the health prospects which are definitely to be taken seriously.

My brother is 23 years old his height is 5.8 while his weight is 50 kg please tell me what he should do to gain weigh...
Hello Lybrate user, Your brother has a very high basal metabolic rate or what is commonly known as BMR. He burns more calories at rest as compared to those who have slow BMR and as a result, he doesn't put on weight despite eating large amounts of foods. Here are some tips which will help him to gain weight--- 1. DOUBLE the amount of food he is eating. Whatever he is eating now, add an additional 500-1000 calories. 2. Eat GOOD calories. 3. Eat Protein rich diet, they are building block for your muscles. Have Chicken, fish, meat, eggs, milk, almonds. 4. Carbs are your friend when you need to put on weight – rice, sweet potatoes, oatmeal, etc. Will help you put on weight. 5. Eat fresh fruits and veggies. But cut back on breads, pasta, rice, and oatmeal. 6. Concentrate on complex, compound exercises that recruit as many muscles as possible: bench presses dumbbell presses, squats, deadlifts, pull ups, chin ups, and dips. Do these exercises, and concentrate on lifting as much weight as possible. If you keep on eating it without exercise it will make you fat and not build your muscles. 7. You need to be getting at least 7 hours of sleep, but 8-9 hours of sleep every night for maximum gains. Your body is doing nothing but lying there and building muscle while you’re sleeping. 8. Cardio is your enemy – Running long distances isn’t going to help you. For a detailed diet plan you can contact me privately.

I am 38 years old male. Whenever I wake up in the morning I feel very weak. I have tested my sugar level of my blood but as per report my blood sugar level is normal. What could be the reason?

B.Sc. - Dietitics / Nutrition, Nutrition Certification,Registered Dietitian
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Delhi
Weakness is a result of lack of physical or muscle strength. If you are feeling that extra effort is required to move your arms, legs, or other muscles, it could also be a result of any disease, illness and too much activity at one time and not taking the food to match the amount of physical effort you are doing. Sometimes low levels of minerals (electrolytes), such as potassium or sodium also result in body weakness. Other important reason could be the problems with your thyroid gland. Because your thyroid gland is responsible for regulating the way the body uses energy. A low thyroid level can cause fatigue, weakness, laziness, weight gain etc. And a high thyroid level can cause fatigue, weight loss, muscle weakness etc. Sometime because of stress you may feel disinterest in your routine works. Since the reasons for your weakness are not known, I shall advise the following - 1. Keep yourself hydrated. 2. Get extra rest for some days till you feel more energetic. 3. Avoid watching television for long hours. Indulge in relaxing activities. 4. Avoid stress and too much physical exertion. 5. Take a nutritious diet with more protein items in homemade food like soya, sprouts, dals, paneer, milk, seasonal fruits. 6. Do light physical activity, meditation and yoga. 7. Take one good multivitamin tablet after food for 7 days.
