Its been 4 days now and she is having sever pain in her lower abdomen and she is frequently urinating. What should we do?

Hi Gokul. The pain is due to high hormone levels in her body now because of the emergency contraceptive pill. Do not worry. She should get her periods soon. The pain and increased urination could also be due to urinary tract infection. Ask her have plenty of water, 2-3 litres a day. Also get a urine culture and sensitivity done to start antibiotic treatment. All the best

Kidney stones are a very common health problem. They form from the chemicals in urine, such as uric acid, phosphorous, calcium and oxalic acid. Other common causes of kidney stones are excessive consumption of vitamin D, a mineral imbalance, dehydration, gout and an improper diet Irrespective of the size of the kidney stones, they can cause severe pain. Other symptoms include a desire to urinate frequently, painful urination, nausea, vomiting and excessive sweating. Pomegranate Both the seeds and juice of pomegranates have astringent properties that can help in the treatment of kidney stones. ? Try to eat one whole pomegranate or drink one glass of freshly squeezed pomegranate juice daily. You can mix pomegranate in a fruit salad also. Another option is to grind one tablespoon of pomegranate seeds into a fine paste. Eat this paste along with a cup of horse gram soup once daily. This remedy will help dissolve the stones. Being high in fiber, kidney beans can be effective in the treatment of any kind of kidney or bladder problem, including kidney stones. ? Remove the beans from inside the pods, then put the beans in hot water. Simmer the water on low flame for hours until the beans become soft and tender. Strain the liquid and allow it to cool. Strain the liquid again. Drink it several times throughout the day to relieve kidney stone pain. This liquid should not be kept for more than 24 hours, as it will lose its therapeutic properties. ? You can also eat kidney beans in soup or salad.

I have a severe condition of fissures. And what you call in layman terms as modes on the outside of the anal opening. Doctors recommending surgery. I am working and mother of two. In case of surgery which are the best options in Mumbai and the best places o get it done. Also, what is the recovery time of these surgeries and approximate cost of the procedure.

FMAS, MS
General Surgeon, Gandhinagar
Respected lybrate-user hi surgery for fissure is called lord's dilatation in which painful spasm of anal sphincter is relieved under general anaesthesia may be costing around 7-8 thousands in average set up. Recovery in 3-4 days. Another surgery is fissurectomy in which excision of fissure in advance stage takes 20-25 days of recovery (painful) may be costing 18-20 thousands in average set up. I clearly tell you that there are all the chances of getting fissure again even after surgery with best doctor of mumbai whenever you will get hard stool so take surgery decision as last resort when you r not getting any relief by medicines thanks regards welcome for any queries.

I am of age 36 male. Recently a significant post residual volume of urine (150 ml out of 380 ml) was found in scanning. My urologist examined and first suggested a tablet for 15 days. After that, he told to do cystoscopy, but then changed his mind, and observed my urine flow. He told cystoscopy is not necessary and inserted a cathetar tube and told there is no serious problem, as the tube was able to reach bladder without any pain. He told me to continue the tablet. But the problem remains unsolved. Kindly tell me what can possible step further?

Dear , it appears that you have obstruction in the flow of urine. Passage of catheter by your urologist rules out stricture of urethra. Most likely cause would be bladder neck obstruction. It is not a disease4 but a mechanical prolem. For this medication s are available like alpha blockers ; like temsulocin 0.4 mg at bed time. It would have been better if you had mentioned the name of the tablets you are taking. Ideally you should have uroflometry and cystourethroscopy to confirm the diagnosis and to see sevearity of obstruction. Though medicines help a lot ideal treatment would beendoscopic surgery. Start drinking a lot water for now. Dr. Kiram mehta.

I have in-large prostate since last 10 years and taking one Alfatam-D tablet regularly since then. Controlling urination sometimes becomes very difficult when pressure built up. I become restless. Why is this so? Please advise. Anand Kumar.

Dear, enlarged prostate causes the bladder muscles to work harder to push urine out. Over a long period of time, this leads to thickened bladder wall and overactivity of bladder muscle. Once overactive bladder develops, it can act spontaneously without our voluntary control. This is the common reason for not able to control urine in prostate enlargement. Other reasons are bladder stone or infection. Please get an ultrasound abdomen with post-void residual urine. Based on prostate size, bladder wall, residual urine, serum psa and urine routine examination findings, a urologist will be able to treat you better. If you do not have much residual urine, infection or stone, then you can be started on drugs to relax bladder (anti-cholinergics). This will help you with improving the control of urination.
