Please get an opg xray done so that if there is any injury to the jaw it can be detected, also be careful while opening and closing your jaw. Sudden movements should be avoided, do not stretch your mouth open that might increase your pain, chew softly and avoid hard foods, have restricted mouth opening while yawning and speaking.

Hi, my teeth are sensitive as hot and cold stuff give me sensation. I use sansodyan twice and getting relief. However, can you help me to suggest any other better option.

You must contact dentist also as it may be due to dental caries or gum problems. Sometimes toothbrush abrasions also leads to sensitivity, so a dentist can use cement to block that abrasions and you will be having relief.

I am aged 48 and having loose teeth problem which pains when I chew. Pls advise natural method to strenghthen teeth with diet my son aged 10 is having cavity in his teeth. Please advise remedy ?

MDS Prosthodontics, B.D.S

The loose teeth should be extracted after a opg or xray. If some teeth can be saved by root canal treatment, then it should be and a good denture either fixed or removable should be planned, depending upon the xray or opg.

For cavities you have to go for filling of teeth from dentist. Few advice to stop bleeding gums-- - visit to a dentist for professional cleaning once in a year - use a soft toothbrush -- and brush properly! brush your teeth for at least two minutes twice a day and after meals. Hard brushing can further damage the soft tissues of your mouth. - floss at least once a day and be sure to floss beyond the gum line to remove more plaque. - control bleeding by applying pressure to the area with a cold compress. - rinse with salt water to keep the area clean. - avoid mouthwashes that contain alcohol, which can dry out your mouth. - stay away from smoking and other tobacco products, which can aggravate bleeding gums.

Smoking or consuming smokeless tobacco is very harmful for your teeth. It can lead to various oral diseases like oral cancer, gingivitis, periodontitis and tooth decay.

No need to fear when going to dentist. No one will do any treatment without informing you and your consent. So relax and consult dentist for your problem and to relieve pain. May you be healthy and smiling like before.

If the mouth ulcer is causing a lot of pain, gently rub a small ice cube over the spot or rinse your mouth with ice-cold water. You could also chew on a clove bud (lavang) and direct the juice generated to the area where the ulcer is located. Clove buds are a great ingredient to cure sore throat too. To prevent the ulcerated area from getting infected, make it a point to rinse your mouth with a little salt water. Remember, this won’t make the ulcer disappear, but it can help reduce the pain. Honey is a natural humectant. It helps reduce scarring and hastens the process of new tissue growth. This, along with its anti-microbial effect ensures faster healing of the mouth ulcer. Chew a few leaves of tulsi along with some water about three to four times every day. This will help in getting rid of ulcers faster and also have a preventive action against their recurrence. Applying a little coconut oil directly onto the mouth ulcer or chewing some coconut (fresh or dry) helps reduce pain and inflammation and hence, ulcers heal faster. Mix some sugar to crushed khus-khus seeds and consume this mixture for instant relief from ulcers. You could apply a little ghee directly to the ulcerated area, or drink a glass of buttermilk two or three times every day. Mouth ulcers left untreated generally go away in a week or so; with these home remedies, you can expect faster relief. However, if you notice an ulcer in the mouth that is persistently present although it does not cause you any pain, do not neglect it or try to treat it with home remedies beyond a few days. Make it a point to see a doctor soon because often, a painless mouth ulcer is one of the earliest signs of oral cancer.

Dear Lybrate user, 1. Gums can bleed during scaling, especially if they a swollen (Your dentist has done the the right thing) 2. In your case gum recession has most likely occured due to chemicals from tobacco and related material and also due to unhygiene 3. Stop using tobacco (Most important!) or the damage in your mouth will continue. It may even lead to Oral Cancer. If you can't stop tobacco habit consider taking help from an oral medcine specialist nearby you. Keep a follow-up. Consider visiting rehab centre for deaddiction if needed. 4. Visit a periodontist and get treatment for gum recession, swollen gums and sensitive teeth.

Dear Lybrate user, sensitive teeth can be due to cavities, gum recession, some old fillings etc. A proper clinical checkup would be required to establish the exact cause so consult your dentist immediately and pursue the treatment. You can use anti-sensitivity toothpastes for sometime. Apply it on the affected teeth, leave for 4-5 minutes and then brush it off. To maintain strong teeth and healthy gums, brush and floss regularly, use a soft toothbrush and brush gently using proper technique. Pay a visit to your dentist every 6 months.
