Toothpicks, an alternative to flossing
Toothpicks can be an alternative to use for flossing if dental floss is not available. Remember not to be too harsh while using it.

Why do we get mouth ulcers regularly? please help me with some of the precautions.

BDS (Gold Medalist)
Dentist, Gurgaon
Dear lybrate user, mouth ulcers could be due to multiple reasons like stress (the most common and important one), vitamin or nutritional deficiency, anemia, eating excess fried food, dehydration etc. Establishing the exact cause in case of frequent or non-healing ulcers is important. Normally, they heal in 7-14 days time. Drinking plenty of fluids and water, eating fruits, salads and vegetables, avoiding oily/fried food, developing a healthy smoke-free, alcohol-free lifestyle and staying stress-free are some of the precautions.

After removing your braces, your orthodontist would have given you retainers to wear. You need to wear them regularly. Since your spaces are already opening up you can get your retainers checked and tightened/ adjusted by your orthodontist and continue wearing them regularly 24*7 for at least 6 months and then continue with night time wear later on.

Lubricate your gums, whiten your teeth and floss with a simple home remedy. Slosh your mouth with coconut, sunflower or sesame oil for 15 minutes and then spit it out. Get that extra shine and improve the health of your teeth with this easy technique called oil pulling.
