Detox Your Body - 9 Tips to Help You Do It Rightly!

Given the amount of junk food we eat, it is a good idea to detox the body once in a while. Detoxing should not be confused with dieting for weight loss. Detoxing is simply a way to give the digestive system time to rest and recoup. Here are ten steps to detoxing.

  1. Stay hydrated: It would be impossible to flush toxins from the body without sufficient water. Hence, it is necessary to stay hydrated at all times. A person should drink a minimum of 8-10 glasses of water a day while detoxing.
  2. Start the day with lemon and water: Begin your day with a glass of warm water mixed with the juice of one lime or lemon. This charges the liver and other digestive organs. You could also add freshly grated ginger, a pinch or cayenne pepper or honey to this drink.
  3. Green teaGreen tea is well known for its antioxidant properties. This makes it the ideal drink to detox your body. It also gives the body a natural caffeine boost and helps control blood sugar levels thus, reducing sugar cravings.
  4. Fibre: Fibre is essential for the digestive system and aids in the removal of waste material from the body. Additionally, fruits and vegetables that are the largest sources of fibre are rich in essential vitamins and minerals. You could also consider fibre supplements such as psyllium husk.
  5. Say no to alcohol: Keeping away from alcohol for a few days can help cleanse your liver. Along with alcohol, it is also a good idea to stay away from nicotine and caffeine.
  6. Cut down on red meat: Red meat is difficult to digest and can cause a number of digestive issues. Hence, consider replacing red meat with leaner meats like chicken and fish.
  7. Season with turmericTurmeric has powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Turmeric can be added to almost every vegetable and Indian curry recipe and is ideal while detoxing. Avoid milk and turmeric during detoxification. Milk is better to be avoided. 
  8. Sweat it out: Perspiration aids in the removal of body wastes. Exercising not only makes you sweat but boosts energy levels as well. Alternatively, you could try sweating it out in a hot tub or sauna.

Please refrain from using any supplements, tablets or artificial methods to lose fat/weight as they can have long term consequences. Always rely on natural foods and lifestyle modification.

Hello, Please follow the below strategies. 1. Avoid eating carbohydrate rich foods like rice/chapati after 6 pm. Eat vegetables, fruits, buttermilk etc after 6 pm. 2. Finish your dinner at least 3 hours before bed time. 3. Drink 1 glass of diluted lemon water 30 minutes before sleep time. 4. In the morning, do some ab work-outs. 5. Rest of the day eat more of protein sources like dals - pulses - eggs - milk - 5 nuts etc. 6. Please drink 2-3 liters of water everyday. I am sure these things if done regularly, will definitely show some good results. All the best!

I am 75 kgs. I do not get time for exercise but at my work place I use stairs all the time and usually I complete 8000 steps on daily basis. I am not following any diet plan but also I am not taking diet with too much of calories. After doing all of this I have not lost any weight in last 1 month. Kindly help.

Hello, include more protein sources such as pulses, broccoli, mushroom, sprouts, 5-6 nuts, curd etc and cut down carbohydrates such as rice or roti. Drink cinnamon or lime honey water every morning on empty stomach. Snack on Fruits and eat clean. Small small lifestyle changes can definitely give better results.

I don't eat junk food. Normal home made food is my diet But still I feel bloated every time. I am gaining belly fat at a faster rate. I was in depression 6 months back but now I am fine. However I have become more negative towards anything. I want to get into shape and have proper mental health. I know exercise is an option. Have started but need to have more motivation. Any medication for bloated stomach and increasing belly fat.

For bloated stomach, check if some specific ingredient is causing it. Sometimes milk can cause this and hence its better to avoid. Observe for a week to see what food is causing this feeling. It can be some food intolerance. Also, bring in meditation into your routine and you will start making the wisest choices.

Hello, please increase your intake of protein through sources such as pulses, milk, curd, paneer, lassi, ghee, eggs, chicken, fish etc. This will help in healthy muscle building. Also incorporate some muscle building workouts.

You can opt to take good amount of milk and milk products, green leafy vegetables, pulses sprouts etc. However, would request you to see your doctor and take a dose of Vitamin B12 as natural sources are very limited.

I am from south india, Andra Pradesh how to reduce the stomach tell me some health tricks.
Fat around abdomen can increase the risk of diabetes or cardio vascular disorders. Hence its very important to bring it down at the earliest. As step 1, have dinner at least 3 hours before you sleep. And avoid rice in the night. Secondly, incorporate 45 minutes of abs/tummy exercises regularly. Finally, drink at least 3 liters of water daily without fail. Its all about overall health and no short term strategies.
