What should be right thing to reduce weight to control food and walk daily or is okay to take a medicine or medical treatment.

M.Sc. in Foods & Nutrition, PhD in Foods & Nutrition
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Udaipur
You have to do some modification in your diet & excercise. I am talking about healthy diet not dieting. You can lose your weight upto 5 kg by following a good diet plan & excercise or a healthy diet with right ratio of calories, protein & carb. You have to avoid such type of unhealthy food like fried, oily foods, fast & junk food, tea, coffee, sugary products & sugary drinks. You should take a healthy breakfast. If you want to lose your weight please don't skip it because it will help you to boost your metabolism, includes salad with lunch & dinner. Use 6 small meal pattern instead of 3 major meal.

Maintaining Diet In Diabetes

MD , MBBS
General Physician, Aligarh
Maintaining Diet In Diabetes

A lifestyle disease such as diabetes is never nice to have, isn’t it? Also, when a person has diabetes, there are some things of which more should be had and then, there are some whose consumption should be scaled back. So what exactly does a diet for a person who has diabetes look like?

Breakfast is said to be the most important meal of the day as it kicks off the metabolism for the day. Having a large breakfast is quite important so as to take care of the body, but this only makes sense if the food that is being eaten for breakfast is healthy enough. It is quite a good idea to have some porridge. While it is true that porridge is a carbohydrate-rich food item, what it also has is a great amount of soluble fibre. In fact, this sort of fibre takes some time to digest, so it reduces the pangs of hunger, which would have normally made a person eat unhealthy junk and fast food.

In a world of food that is processed, packaged and picked up from the supermarket, people are just not eating the correct amount of fruits and vegetables as they should. What is important to keep in mind is that vegetables are to be had in multiple portions on a daily basis, but these vegetables must be low in starch content. This means that for a person who has diabetes, vegetables which should not be eaten include potatoes, sweet potatoes, peas as well as corn.

On the other hand, the sort of vegetables which are to be eaten include broccoli and spinach. Spinach is also very good for increasing the level of haemoglobin in the blood. Also, making use of cinnamon extract is good as it has the potential to cut a person’s sugar levels by up to a tenth.

While it is not true that potatoes and other starchy foods should be completely avoided, a diabetic person should watch the amount of them that is being consumed by him or her. The reason for this is that starch-filled vegetables have high amounts of carbohydrates, which are generally responsible for raising the level of blood sugar. This is surely the last thing a diabetic person would want or need.

If you notice, strawberries have some sugar content, but they are a lot better than biscuits and other snacks. So in case a diabetic person wants to nibble on something, sweet fruits are always a better option. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a dietitian-nutritionist.

I am underweight? How can I gain the weight. My age is 22 years and my height is 6 feet but my weight is only 58kg. What should I do to gain the weight?

Certification in Diabetes Educators Program, Post Graduate Diploma in Sports Nutrition
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Mumbai
Weight gain is muscle gain and not fat gain. In your condition your energy requirement is very high so whatever you eat is used as a source of energy and you do not make muscle. To gain muscles you will have to eat at least 6 meals in a day at a regular interval with a proper ratio of proteins and carbohydrates. Proteins will help you gain body mass while carbohydrates will help you give energy. Protein foods are eggs, fish, chicken, milk and milk. Products, meat and dals. Carbohydrate foods are roti and rice, potatoes, sweet potatoes. You have to eat vegetables and fuits and use healthy and good fats for cooking. You will also have to do some weight training exercise to help you build mass into the body. Also drink enough water to keep you hydrated.

Homeopath,
Dear lybrate user, take homoeopathic mother tincture acid phos q, 30 drops, thrice daily, after meals in a cup of water. Try to get a un-interrupted sleep of 8 hours daily. Drink a lots of water daily. If you have a habit of masturbation then you should not masturbate for more than twice in a week. Abstain from any type of addiction if you have any.

I am do masturbation at least one or sometimes two daily and I am not married and now my penis has got small and erection problem and I am suffering from diabetes and I am taking insugen 30/70 and I am 35 years old and my weight 90 kg and height 5'3.

MBBS, CCEBDM, Diploma in Diabetology
Endocrinologist, Hubli-Dharwad
Mr. Lybrate-user, masturbation whether done daily once or more often, does not lead to any problem. But diabetes if not well controlled can definitely cause erectile dysfunction and even premature ejaculation. So it is essential to control blood glucose strictly. Fasting should be around 100 mg. Pp 150 to 160 mg/ 100 ml & hba1c%<6.8. If this is achieved and maintained throughout, then most of the long term complications associated with diabetes can be delayed or even prevented. Another important aspect is you have grade 2 obesity with 35.15 bmi. Your ideal body weight should be 60 kgs. This will hinder in achieving tight blood glucose control. You have to seriously work on weight reduction. Even a 5 to 8 % reduction will help in better control. If you want any specific guidelines please come in a private conversation with following details: fasting, pp blood glucose levels, hba1c%, dietary pattern and extent of daily exercise being done. Then I will be able to help. Thanks.

Mene last 3 year se dekha h ki jb bi m gym join krta hu or fir jab chodta hu to 15-20 din bad meri tabiyat bht kharab ho jati h loos moction hone lagte h bht jyada tb tak tabiyat thik ni hoti jab tak ki meri body apne purane dimension me ni a jati h. Gym join krne k pahle jesi thi.

Hye, Aap ko gym fully leave nahi karna chahiye. Kucth exercise continue rakhna hai. Agar aap ne diet right nahi follow kiya tho aapka weight loss galat hua hai jisske wajaha se gym chodne par aapki health wapis pahle jaisi ho jati hai. Also, agar aap gym leave karte ho fir us hisab se diet bhi badalta hai, agar wo nahi karte tho indigestion hona hi hai. So, diet, exercise sab hisab se ho tho aisa nahi hota hai. Diet exercise hamesha body ke zaroorat ke hisab se kare.

I am an engineering student in VIT university. My basic problem is I am on more weight than it has to be for my height. I can reduce it by doing exercises or anything but the problem is I am thin on the upper part and fatty on the bottom. I hope you got me. Also my hip was somewhat wide but that was from my mother genes. So with this I looked like very thin feature from face, neck, hands, abdomen and from there it looks like an unmatched one. Is there any solution that I could get out of this because it does not look good when I wear series for any functions. Please do tell me.

When you are sitting in one place, and studying for long time, you are likely to feel constricted. The fatigue induced in the process is sometimes the reason for boredom or lack of concentration. When such situation arises, getting up and doing some physical activity for a few minutes (liking walking /jogging for a few minutes) may drive the boredom away and this can prove even more effective than taking coffee-------------basic point is to divert our concentration for few minutes inorder to charge ourself for few more hours--------------------
