Hye, Thanks for the query. Firstly it is important to understand that weight /fat loss involves sensible eating. You have to eat the right foods at the right time. Eat small but frequent meals.     Reduce your main meals by 1/4th  the amount. Take a glass of lime water 10minutes before meals. Avoid long gaps in between meals. Avoid junk as far as possible. Exercise at least 4 times a week. Lastly be committed.                        Remember it's a lifestyle change and not a one time thing.     It's a balanced intake that will last you longer. All the so called diets will only give you muscle and bone loss. The fats will remain as it is. So, try to first follow this seemingly simple tips.

Mr. lybrate-user, If she has diabetes (Type 2), she has to be appropriately treated with specific medications. To advise medications I need to know fasting, PP glucose levels, HbA1c%, weight, height, extent of daily exercise being done and dietary pattern. Plus if she is on treatment, then drugs and dosage of the same. It will be better if you come in a private conversation with all these details, then I can give specific prescriptions and necessary advise. If diabetes is not well controlled, then it can cause a number of complications related eyes, blood vessels, nerves, lower limbs and heart. SO good control is is a necessity. Thanks.

Hye thanks for the query. Vitamin b-12 is mostly available only in animal foods: meat, fish, poultry, eggs, and dairy products. You can also get this important nutrient in some nutritional yeasts, as well as from fortified cereals and soy milk. Vegans need to take a vitamin-b supplement daily. You can add fermented foods like idli or dosa or sprouts to improve vitamin b12 in your diet too. Dairy like curd or buttermilk are helpful in improving the gut bacteria as they help too.

1. Start exercising. Start working out if you are not active. Begin with body weight exercises like push up, pull up and squats. Weight training proves to be really helpful if you want to gain good quality weight. Train each body part twice a week. For example: Monday/Thursday: Chest + Triceps Tuesday/Friday: Back + Biceps Wednesday/Saturday: Legs + Shoulders Don't forget to warm up for at least 10 - 15 minutes. Warm up includes jumping, rope skipping, treadmill, cycling, stair climbing, etc. 2. Eat Healthy. Stop drinking and smoking too much if you are indulged in it. Limit your intake of junk food and any form of sugar. Do not at all starve yourself. Make it a habit to eat something healthy every 2 - 3 hours. Some of the recommended food items are boiled chicken and eggs, brown rice, brown bread, peanut butter, olive oil (extra virgin), green tea, dry fruits etc. 3. Ginger juice is helpful in controlling your body fat levels but it will not be sufficient to see long term gains. You should also: 1. Start cardiovascular exercises like running, jogging, cycling etc. 2. Avoid carbohydrates and fats. 3. Avoid processed and junk foods. 4. Start exercising. Both body weight exercises like push ups, pull ups, squats and weight training in the gym is helpful. 5. Stay hydrated. 6. Have a light dinner. 7. Evening walk is always recommended. 8. Green veggies complete your nutrient requirements. 9. Consume all types of protein both from veg and non veg sources. 10. Sleep well.

General Physician (AM)
Alternative Medicine Specialist, Chandigarh
Health Tip on Diabetes ;

If you are suffering from Type-2 diabetes, having a breakfast rich in protein ? 25 to 30 grams ? can reduce glucose spikes at both breakfast and lunch, a new research has found.

Individuals with Type-2 diabetes generally have difficulty regulating their glucose, or blood sugar, levels, particularly after meals.

?The first meal of the day is critical in maintaining glycemic control at later meals, so it really primes people for the rest of the day,? said Jill Kanaley, professor at the University of Missouri.
The researchers monitored Type-2 diabetics? levels of glucose, insulin and several gut hormones ? which help regulate the insulin response ? after breakfast and lunch.
The participants ate either high-protein or high-carbohydrate breakfasts, and the lunch included a standard amount of protein and carbohydrates.

The researchers found eating more protein at breakfast lowered individuals? post-meal glucose levels.
Insulin levels were slightly elevated after the lunch meal, which demonstrated that individuals? bodies were working appropriately to regulate blood-sugar levels, Kanaley said.
The researchers cautioned that although it would be helpful for individuals with high blood sugar to eat more protein, they do not need to consume extreme amounts of protein to reap the benefits.

I suggest consuming 25 to 30 grams of protein at breakfast, which is within range.
