Hi doctor. My weight is increasing regularly. I am unable to loose weight help me.

Hi doctor. My weight is increasing regularly. I am unable to loose weight help me.
Let me know your food intake details. The best diet is one which is healthy and well balanced with foods from all the food groups, and one which is varied and that you can stick to weight loss on some diets can be dramatic in the short term, but there's more of a chance of rebound weight gain. Set yourself a realistic target and aim to lose between (0.5-1.0kg) a week I strongly accommodate the patient's own preferences without the patient feeling that they are on a diet not compromising the weight management goals. Don't fall for self dieting or fad diets available online they have harmful effects in the long run, if you lose a lot of weight very quickly, you may not lose as much fat as you would with a more modest rate of weight loss. Instead, you might lose water weight or even lean muscle tissue, since it's hard to burn that many fat calories in a short period. After assessing your personal challenges to weight loss, one can recommend a strategy to gradually change habits and attitudes that have sabotaged your past efforts. Also the overall objective should not be to drastically reduce weight but doing it gradually and help rebuild body tissues and to maintain ideal body weight.

I am very weak in health. My body is very weak. At the age of 18 I still have 47 kg weight. Please help.
Hello Lybrate user, I would suggest you to follow a diet rich in proteins, carbohydrates and good fat like- almonds, walnuts, chicken, eggs, fish, soybean, vegetables, pulses, potato, sweet potato, milk, soy milk, paneer, tofu etc. Along with this you also need to do some exercise to build up your muscle mass. Below is a sample diet chart that you can take it as an example and follow- early morning- banana + 10 almonds then exercise with weight lifting breakfast- 8-10 eggs + 1 cup milk + 1 fruit midmeal- nuts/ bhuna chana/ lassi/ fruit lunch- 2 cups dal + 1 cup protein rich veg + 3 chapatti + 1 cup curd+salad evening- milk + soy chaap/ chicken dinner- 1 cup vegetable +2-3 chapatti + salad to start with this amount of quantity you need to increase the amount of food slowly and not immediately as you will not be able digest this much amount of food at the start, so incorporate foods slowly to increase your food intake. GOOD LUCK!

These tests ar not indicator of heart health as you have asked. Form this you have a mild anemia and platelets are low. A normal platelet count ranges from 150, 000 to 450, 000 platelets per microliter of blood. Having more than 450, 000 platelets is a condition called thrombocytosis; having less than 150, 000 is known as thrombocytopenia. You get your platelet number from a routine blood test called a complete blood count (cbc).

Your BMI is 43.1. You have to persist with a low carbohydrate and low fat high protein diet. Stop all cereals, sugar, bakery products and desserts. Take the white of 4 boiled eggs and lots of fruits and green vegetables and salads. Go for an hour long walk every day. If you don't loose weight soon you will develop diabetes and high BP. You need Bariatric Surgery to help you with sustained weight loss. For more details read the health tips I have written on this website OR send me a personal question.

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
Hello, migraine is a form of headache. The pain is usually throbbing, pulsating and bursting in character. At times, the pain is one sided or may involve the whole head. Such pain may last for hours or even days. It is often accompanied by other symptoms like nausea or vomiting. At the same time, there is increased sensitivity to light and sound. The causes of the problem may vary from one patient to another and so will the final choice of the homoeopathic remedy. Prevention tips:- 1. Keep a headache diary: this may help you in identifying the trigger factors such as foods, activities and weather 2. Exercise regularly: regular exercise, yoga and relaxation techniques such as meditation can also be of great help. 3. Keep regular sleep patterns: sleep adequately. Sleeping too much or too less can trigger migraine. 4. Watch out what you eat: foods such as caffeine and chinese foods that contain monosodium glucamate and chocolates cheese are well-known trigger factors. 5. Eat regularly: fasting is a very common trigger in many people. If it is such a factor for you too, make sure that you eat at regular intervals. ***selection of homoeopathic remedy depends upon the totality of your symptoms. So please share your symptoms.

Hi, I want to discuss the problem of my younger brother, who is 33 years old. He z suffering from very serious problem from 4-5 yrs. He didn't share his problem with anyone but he  thinks everyday, to get rid from that. I came to know about this in last year, when some guy frm his college office calls me, where he works as lecturer frm 4-5 yrs. He told me that your brother is addicted to drugs in Cough Syrup form (COREX) - which contains  [chlorpheniramine MALEATE AND CODEINE PHOSPHATE] daily 2-3 bottles of {100 ML} from 3-4 yrs. I get very much worried tht he is wasting all things his life, his health, money and does not interact with anyone, and always sleep in full day and wake up on every night. His body always keep on sweating and every time his hands starts shivering, and feels embarrassment frm thz situation ,specially when some one points him. He was brilliant in studies, but now days he has loose his all confidence and get lost in his mind only and start thinking that, every one makes fun of him and get conscious every time, to overcome this  thing, he starts ignoring every one and starts living alone. Everyday I make him realize tht he z spoiling his life, his wife and his small daughter life which is just 3 yrs. Old. Every day he promise me tht frm now he will leave thz habit completely. But I guess due to addiction frm many yrs. He can't leave now, if he wants thn also, even he knows the results, but he z unable to leave thz even ,for one day also. He z spoiling his full family life. So, can you help me out for making his life frm meaning less to meaning full for his life. Is there is any cure (medicine) which (by not telling him) about treatment, so that he totally turns his face from that. I am really worried for him. As he is good guy and my only brother. Waiting for your answer  eagerly till he gets well. Thanks.

Hi,
I want to discuss the problem of my younger brother, who is 33 years old. He z suffering from very serious proble...
The effect of sleeping all day is due to codeine which is a sedative. Even Chlorpheniramine is sedating. Cough syrup addiction is a common outlet for depressed college students who did not have means of getting hard drugs. I notice that you are a doctor. I am surprised that you did not notice the behavioural changes. Drug addiction is usually a result of psychiatric illness. Instead of consulting a professional due to stigma, they tend to go for whichever is accessible to relieve their depression and anxiety. Your brother is officially a drug addict from your description. Your location is in Punjab, I think so. Please admit him in a de-addiction centre, wean him off the drugs and then, get a full psychological evaluation and treat him accordingly. This is not something you do over phone or internet. Family plays a very important role in these circumstances in helping and monitoring the addict. Please take action immediately before it is too late and he dies from and overdose or moves onto hard drugs or commits suicide.

Hi, Blackheads are initial stage of acne. Wash your face with Schwabe's Akne Sor soap, use cleanser, toner and moisturizer on your skin. Apply Bakson's Sunscreen before going out. Use Bakson's Apricot scrub on the areas, followed by Papaya or Apple pack on it. Medication: You can take homoeopathic medicines – Berberis Aquefolium Q/ 10 drops in 1/2 cup of water/ thrice a day (and for local application as well) and Kali Brom. 200/ thrice a day – for 30 days. Home Remedy: Mix fuller's earth, almond powder and glycerin , then apply this face pack on your face affected with blackheads and whiteheads. Keep this face mask on for 30 minutes and do mild scrubbing while removing this mask to eradicate blackheads effectively.

BT arnica hair conditioner or Bakson arnica hair conditioner. Which is best to use? Which is more effective?

IAT, BHMS

BT arnica hair conditioner or Bakson arnica hair conditioner. Which is best to use? Which is more effective?
Hi! hair loss happens due to various reasons and to treat it correctly the cause has to be known. There are temporary and permanent types of bair loss. You can try taking a multivitamin supplement with iron and zinc for a month to see if it helps. If your hair loss doesnt reduce with this you should consult a trichologist for further investigation as early treatment is the key to successful results in hair loss. Hair follicles once damaged or dead are difficult to be revived back so do not waste much time on trying shampoos or oils instead look for internal causes of hair loss. Have a healthy balanced diet and include sprouts, green tea, almonds, walnuts and flaxseeds and leafy greens in your diet. Avoid red meat, ghee, cheese, butter, smoking, fried food and sweets. Exercise regulary to improve the blood circulation to your scalp.

Sir I have a white pimple in my mouth and head feels weighted and frontier teeth also painful.

BDS
Dentist, Bangalore
Sir I have a white pimple in my mouth and head feels weighted and frontier teeth also painful.
Sir you are complaining of head feels weighted according to this there may be possibility of sinus infection also. This may have caused increased sensitivity and ulceration in the palate (if the white spot is present there) 2nd possibility that white pimple is actually pus draining out of the infected front teeth. That means there is pus and also we need to know if white spot is burning/itching/paining/bleeding or any other symptom to evaluate and understand. For temporary relief you may apply topical dologel for 2 to 3 days if just ulcer. And if pus is draining you need to take prescription from dentist for antibiotics to treat infection and them get root canal treatment. Hope this answers your query.

Pigmentation - 10 Ways To Treat it

MBBS, MD - Dermatology , Venereology & Leprosy
Dermatologist, Kolhapur
Pigmentation - 10 Ways To Treat it

Pigmentation of the skin is a medical term, which refers to the phenomena of colouring. Our skin is made up of cells that produce a pigment named melanin. The colour of the skin largely depends on the production of melanin. If more melanin is produced, the skin looks darker and vice-versa. When the melanin producing cells are damaged due to long exposure to sunlight, pregnancy or any other disease, pigmentation of the skin takes place. The skin may get dark entirely or in patches due to pigmentation. In some cases, decolouration takes place or white patches are formed on the skin.

Causes and Types of Pigmentation

The type of skin pigmentation depends on the cause behind it. Here are some of the common causes and types:

  1. Melanin: The skin colour varies from one person to another due to the presence of a pigment called melanin. It is produced by melanocytes cells in our body. Melanin protects our skin from damage on exposure to sunlight. When we spend long hours under the sun, the melanin production is increased. This gives a tanned look.
  2. Freckles: These are caused by clusters of melanin. These gets accumulated or concentrated in clusters on being exposed to sunrays.
  3. Liver Spots/Age Spots: These are also known as solar lentigos. This can be due to ageing or excessive exposure to UV rays.
  4. Birthmarks: These are referred to the irregular blemish that appears on any part of the body soon after birth or at the time of birth. These are of two types: vascular and pigmented.
  5. Melasma/Chloasma Faciei: This is usually found in pregnant women. It occurs due to the over-activation of melanocytes as there is a hormonal imbalance.
  6. Post-inflammatory hyper pigmentation: This refers to inflammation as a result of inflammation caused by trauma.

Treatment: There are several ways to treat skin pigmentation. There are medicines and cosmetics available in the markets, which help in getting rid of the pigmentation. Skin pigmentation can also be tackled by certain home-based remedies. Here are some of these remedies:

  1. Milk and honey face pack: Milk is known to contain lactic acid. Apply a mixture of milk and honey on the affected part of the skin. This makes the hyper pigmented skin lighter in colour.
  2. Vegetable juices: Some vegetables like tomatoes, cucumber and potato are effective in getting rid of the skin pigments. Cut slices of these vegetables and rub them over the affected parts. The juices from these vegetables will lighten the pigmented part.
  3. Avocado magic: It is advisable to peel off an avocado and apply its juice with honey over the affected area.
  4. Add Vitamin E to your diet: Include foods rich in vitamin E in your meals. It helps in restoring the pigmented skin back to its normal form.
  5. Face mask: There are several face masks available that can work wonder in curing pigmentation of the skin. You can use face packs containing oatmeal, honey, sandalwood, turmeric powder, raw milk, and orange powder.
  6. Sun screen: It is important to guard your skin against the ultraviolet rays. UV rays lead to pigmentation of the skin. So, apply a sunscreen lotion or cream before stepping out of your home.
  7. Take up some exercise: A key to a healthy skin is a good lifestyle. One must exercise regularly to maintain proper blood circulation throughout the body. Proper flow of blood keeps the skin healthy and free from pigmentation.
  8. Avoid consumption of alcohol and cigarettes: The consumption of alcohol and cigarettes leads to the generation of toxins in our blood stream. This is harmful to our skin.
  9. Cocoa butter: It has nourishing and de-tanning effects on the skin. Use a cream that contains cocoa butter extracts on daily basis.
  10. Oil massage: Certain oils like olive and almond are good for treating damaged skin. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a dermatologist and ask a free question.
