There are so many causes of bleeding gums - - brushing too hard - poor oral hygiene. - vitamin deficiency - taking blood thinners or other medications - bleeding or clotting disorders - mouth sores - other medical problems, including diabetes, heart disease, leukemia or scurvy few advice to stop bleeding gums-- - visit to a dentist for professional cleaning once in a year - use a soft toothbrush -- and brush properly! brush your teeth for at least two minutes twice a day and after meals. Hard brushing can further damage the soft tissues of your mouth. - floss at least once a day and be sure to floss beyond the gum line to remove more plaque. - control bleeding by applying pressure to the area with a cold compress. - rinse with salt water to keep the area clean. - Avoid mouthwashes that contain alcohol, which can dry out your mouth.

I want to reshape my teeth but I dont like braces. What's the best solution for me, how much will it cost?

Have to see what type of occlusion you have and what type of correction which is required. Cant say veneers will suit for all situations. Veneers or crowns will require minimum tooth preparation which is irreversible. If correction required is minimum even simple composite restoration will also solve your problem. If extensive correction required you may go for lingual brackets which no body can make out.

Cavities don't heal on their own. You need to get them treated by either fillers or rct followed by crown coverage. The hypersensitivity will then gradually wane off with proper treatment.

Yellowish teeth - I have had braces some years ago and my teeth had become yellow post that. I brush properly but don't want to go for scaling as I have heard it damages teeth. Do we have an alternative so that I may get white teeth which may be a Polish or something like that.

Naturally our teeth colour ranges from pearly white to pale yellow so everyone cannot hv white teeth. Get scalling n polishing done by dentist. If u r not happy with ur teeth shade later, u can get bleaching done by dentist which 'll lighten ur teeth by 2-3 shades. Alternatively u can use a teeth whitening toothpaste such as snowdent after scalling. Whitening gels used daily along with customized dental trays provided by dentist r also available in the market. Avoid heavily coloured foods, tea n coffee, cool drinks, smoking n tobacco products as they stain teeth. scalling doesn't damage teeth but cleans teeth surface n is advised to get it done once in a year for all. u hv been misguided.

I am getting bad smell from mouth and also blood from teeth. what should I do? Please help me.

We need more investigations with clinical examination to decide upon treatment. You may need deep cleaning along with surgical, gum strengthening procedure. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with a mouth wash after every meals. Use pepsodent tooth paste & gum paint for 2 to 3 weeks. Advance procedures can be done with laser. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months.

Well, most of us eat or munch on some food or the other throughout the day. So, if you go to bed without brushing at night, a lot of small food particles remain stuck in between your teeth and these may cause cavities. Here is an interesting fact - the bacteria in your mouth never sleep, not even a wink. In fact, they become more active when the levels of saliva, the natural protector in your mouth, become low.

Only morning brushing means your mouth would have double the amount of bacteria at night (while sleeping). These bacteria remain in the mouth long enough to act on our teeth which will eventually lead to cavities. The cavities in turn will lead to pain and discomfort, along with decay in the tooth.

Hi, do consult your dentist who performed surgery, but general instructions are as follows: the following will help speed recovery: take painkillers as prescribed by your dentist or oral surgeon. Apply an ice or cold pack to the outside of your mouth to help relieve pain and swelling. After 24 hours, rinse your mouth gently with warm salt water several times a day to reduce swelling and relieve pain. Make your own salt water by mixing 1 tsp (5 g) of salt in a medium-sized glass [8 fl oz (240 ml)] of warm water. Change gauze pads before they become soaked with blood. Relax after surgery. Physical activity may increase bleeding. Avoid smoking. Eat soft foods, such as gelatin, pudding, or a thin soup. Gradually add solid foods to your diet as healing progresses. Do not lie flat. This may prolong bleeding. Prop up your head with pillows. Avoid rubbing the area with your tongue. Do not use sucking motions, such as when using a straw to drink. Continue to carefully brush your teeth and tongue.

Like our body, our gums also need some exercise to maintain their health.Gently bite down so as to make sure that your teeth make a clinking sound when they meet. Repeat this 30 to 40 times continously. This exercise will stimulate the flow of blood and will keep your gums healthy.

Hi for yellow teeth you need to get a professional cleaning done. If that does not help then you may go for teeth whitening. Modern day dentistry allows you to fill small gaps between teeth by procedure called dental bonding. If you can send some pictures of your teeth then we are in better position to comment.

Care for your Child's teeth!! The fact that you are reading this shows that you are committed to healthy and beautiful smiles for kids. As a parent you may have many questions so that you are able to take care of your child’s teeth.
Let us thank you for your efforts, and we assure you that your kids will be thankful to you in the future

BRUSHING- the WHEN & HOWs…?

You should start with cleaning your infant’s teeth with a wet wash cloth, however as your kid gets more teeth, you can start to use a soft children’s toothbrush. Brushing should be done in more circular motion covering both front and back side of all the teeth from gums towards teeth.

The TOOTHPASTE confusion? Your child may be at risk of too much fluoride intake, so your choice of toothpaste is simple yet essential. If using fluoridated toothpaste, use a small, pea-size amount of toothpaste, so that there is little danger for your child getting too much fluoride if he swallows it. The alternative off course is to use non-fluoridated toothpaste, until they are spitting the toothpaste out.

FLOSSING- simple yet effective tool ? Flossing is an important part of good oral hygiene. Your child should start flossing from the age of 3-4 years, but they likely won't be able to floss on their own, so your role will be to assist them. It should be encouraged at least once a day

FLUORIDE- the right balance ? Children begin to need supplemental fluoride by the age of six months. The additional requirement is dependent on child’s environment. If your kid is drinking tap water and you live in an area with the water is fluoridated, then he should be getting an adequate amount of fluoride. If he doesn't drink water much, or is drinking well water, un-fluoridated bottled water, then he may not be getting enough fluoride to keep his teeth healthy. Talk with your Pediatric Dentist for elaborate details about fluoride supplements in forms of gels and varnishes.

SEALENTS- Sealing the future cavity ? A sealant is a plastic material that provides a protective coating to the teeth, thereby acts as a barrier against plaque and bacteria from being present in the grooves and pits of the teeth. Molars can be hard to clean with all the grooves and are prone to developing cavities, so sealants can do wonders.

FIRST VISIT- the sooner the better…?
Common practice is that one may not visit a dentist unless your child has risk factors for having problems with teeth, such as sleeping with cup/bottle, teeth staining, thumb sucking, night pain etc. However, an early visit to the child dentist is a good way to learn proper about basics of oral hygiene at an early age.

I think you should show it to your dentist. If he feels correct, he can do some necessary feelings to cover those sensitive areas. Sensodyne is not the solution to all kind of sensitivity. Avoid self medication and consult a dentist.

I am regularly brushing my teeth then also its not enough white. What should I do.?
There are several causes of tooth discoloration, including: foods/drinks. Coffee, tea, colas, wines, and certain fruits and vegetables (for example, apples and potatoes) can stain your teeth. Tobacco use. Smoking or chewing tobacco can stain teeth. Poor dental hygiene. Inadequate brushing and flossing. Here is home remedy for brighter teeth--- mix several teaspoons of baking soda with enough fresh lemon juice (or water) to make a paste. Wipe your teeth and any extra saliva off of them with a paper towel. Put a good amount of paste onto your toothbrush and apply. Leave the paste on for 1 minute, then rinse, so as to avoid the acid effecting enamel. If you are using just water you can leave it on for up to 3 minutes. For faster result you can go for teeth bleaching from dentist.
