1. Protein is the key for the muscle building. Without adequate protein, muscle gain and growth is not possible because weight training demands for amino acids (which comes from protein). You should daily eat about 2.2g of protein per kilogram of your weight. For example, if you are 50kg , then you should eat 50x2.2=111g of protein spread over 5-6 meals in the day. Include high protein foods in your diet. Your protein intake should be from foods rather than from supplements. Good protein foods: beans, soybeans, whey, fish, dairy products (low fat variety), meats, nuts and seeds (almonds, peanuts, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds), peanut butter. Many of these are easy digestible foods. Milk is one of the best muscle foods. The milk contains two high quality proteins, about 80 percent whey and 20 percent casein. Whey is quickly broken down into amino acids and absorbed into the bloodstream. Whey is very good to consume after workout. Casein is digested more slowly and provides the body with a steady supply of protein for a longer period of time. Cheese is concentrated milk, so it is high in protein and calcium, fat and cholesterol. Include healthy skim yogurt in your diet, which can give you as much as 120 calories. 2. Eat custard apple (Saripa, Sitaphal) to put on some weight. This fruit is high in calorie. 3. Healthy fats: Avoid fatty foods. Most mothers, especially in India give too much ghee or butter to their children, thinking they will put flesh fast. But ghee is mostly saturated fat which is not a healthy fat for any body. Healthy fats are monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats and omega-3 fatty acids. Good fats: cold pressed oils (olive, sunflower, linseed, canola ). 4. Drink pure fruit juice. It is full of sugar and added nutrients so it is a healthy and nutritious way to gain some pounds. 5. Complex carbohydrates are also needed for gaining weight.. Corn bread is also full of carbohydrates, one piece gives approximately 328 calories. Potatoes are rich sources of carbohydrates and complex sugars, eat baked or as grilled potatoes. Pasta is a calorie rich cereal carbohydrates. 6. Eat bananas. These are rich in carbs and nutritious, one banana contains approximately 100 calories. 7. Some people think that drinking beer helps, but it is not true, it accumulates in your abdomen, making it fatty. 8. Don't take protein supplements for gaining muscles. Consult your doctor for protein supplements. 9. Non Vegetarian Foods Some of the non-vegetarian foods that help increase weight are given below: 1. Red Meat lean ground beef, lean steaks. 2. Pork, ham, lamb 3. Fish: Eat two portions of salmon, cod, or tuna every day. 4. Shrimps: The nutrients and necessary acid content present in shrimps gives healthy calories. 5. Turkey 6. Chicken breast Chicken breast, is supposed to be the healthiest and non-fat part which has approximately 78 calories for each serving. 7. Whole eggs: Eggs are loaded with protein, vitamins A,D and E.

Dear Lybrate user. I can understand. A NIGHT FALL / nocturnal emission / wet dream or involuntary leakage is an involuntary ejaculation of semen that occurs during sleep or along with urine while urination. Studies show that approximately 83% of men experience a nocturnal emission or leakage at some point in their lives. There is nothing wrong with a person if he or she experiences a nocturnal orgasm or nocturnal emission or leakage, as they are normal and healthy experiences. If you have experienced a wet dream, you should not feel ashamed. There is no way to prevent nocturnal orgasms or emissions from happening. Sage tea is the best home remedy which is used to treat conditions such as nightfall. If you drink at least two cups in a day, the chances of getting wet dreams will reduce too. Take fenugreek with honey on a regular basis. Exercise regularly and practice yoga and meditation to keep calm and relaxed. I suggest online sex counseling. Take care.

I'm 15 Years Old And I Want To Know What are the benefits of losing weight? Because I'm. Very Weak And Thin.

PGDD, RD, Bachelor of Home Science

I'm 15 Years Old And I Want To Know What are the benefits of losing weight? Because I'm. Very Weak And Thin.
Hye, Thanks for the query. There are no benefits of reducing weight below your ideal weight. Chances are you may lose out on immunity and stamina. Gaining weight requires you to eat more calories than you burn. Although fried or sugary foods are calorie dense, eating them exclusively won’t provide enough nutrition to keep you energetic and healthy. Eating several meals and snacks throughout the day and including nutritious, calorie-dense food will help you gain weight healthfully. Weight gain depends primarily on your genetics, age, weight and activity level. To gain weight, you need to eat more calories than you burn. If you’re not used to eating large quantities of food at one time, you may find it difficult to fit all of your calories into three meals per day. Eating nutritious, calorie-dense foods every two to three hours will help you get your calories in without making you overly full and sluggish. If you tend to forget to eat or are always on the go, bring calorie-dense snacks such as eggs, mixed nuts, fruits and dairy. Nutritious, calorie-dense foods provide essential vitamins and minerals, which promote good health and energy. Adding ghee and cream to foods adds additional calories for very little extra physical bulk. Fruit juice, masala milk provides crucial nutrients. Meal-replacement shakes and protein powder sound like good options but also remember that unless your diet is not planned sadly they won't help.

Avoid sitting cross legged. Avoid squatting- quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day. Sports taping- stretch the tape from both ends and apply on the affected area contrast fomentation (hot and cold).

There are little blackheads on my face. On cheeks and nose. And its not going. I am worried if it doesn't turn into a big pimple. How to remove it?

BHMS, Certified in Aesthetic Skin Treatments, Certified in Applied Behaviour Analysis
Homeopath, Mumbai
There are little blackheads on my face. On cheeks and nose. And its not going. I am worried if it doesn't turn into a...
First, understand exactly what blackheads are, so you don't damage your skin by trying to scrub them away. "Blackheads are just an oxidized mix of oil and dead skin cells that are sitting in pores. The exposure to air is what causes them to oxidize and turn black. The best way to break down oil in clogged pores is by using beta-hydroxy acid (salicylic) or combination peels containing salicylic acid. It is lipophilic (attracted to fat/oils) and concentrates at the surface of the pore to dissolve the plugs. Consistent use will prevent the blackheads before they form and help clear existing pores. Additionally, glycolic acid, an alpha hydroxy acid which is derived from sugar cane, helps clear dead skin and debris on the surface. These two work well in tandem. It can be found in over-the-counter products. Ideally, you should use a leave-on product rather than a cleanser or soap. Here 's how to decide which one is best for you salicylic or glycolic: If your skin is otherwise clear but you've been putting up with stubborn blackheads on your nose for years, have anti aging concerns or just want to improve your skin's look - try Glycolic Acid. If you suffer from acne too - Salicylic Acid is best for you. Since blackheads are caused by open, clogged, pores reacting to oxygen, it only makes sense that "shrinking" your pores down will help. Lemon juice is just the astringent substance needed to get the job done, however, it can lighten skin temporarily and it does make you sensitive to the sun, so load up on sunscreen if you plan on using this method. If you have sensitive skin, try diluting the lemon juice with water first. You can consult me online for further tips for skin care treatment and medicines. Your feedback matters. Thank-you.

You should look for a weight of around 70-75 kg for your height and this is just an estimation. A suitable diet for weight gain should include lot of good protein, good fats, and other dense nutrition foods. Keep away from the mass building supplements in the market which are loaded with unhealthy inorganic substances and flavorings. Regular exercise (weights) are good muscle builders.

Hi Eat with your eyes and your mind Make sure your dinner table has a spread of colours like yellow, green, red, orange, white. Add a lot of different fresh seasonal vegetables, raw salads and herbs. This will not only be pleasing to your palate by providing a burst of flavour but will also give it an aesthetic appeal, so the meal doesn’t look boring and monotonous. While you sit to eat, do not just shove the food in your mouth and gulp it down. The idea is to go slow, and enjoy the entire experience, relish your food as you chew it properly to enjoy every flavour in every bite. Focus on what you are eating the texture, the visual appeal, the aroma of the dish. Eating mindfully will make it an enjoyable experience while assisting in better digestion, make you feel more fuller by avoiding overeating and prevent a lot of stomach distress like gas, bloating or acidity Take smaller portion Tips for quick weight loss \ blogs \ Just for Hearts Tips for quick weight loss \ blogs \ Just for Hearts Eating a smaller portion of food at a time helps in the breakdown of the food in an effective way so that the entire calories obtained from the food are used up by the body for all the bodily functions. When you eat a large meal, the excess energy which goes unused by the system gets stored as fat and causes weight gain. A good idea would be to use smaller plates so the plate looks fuller and psychologically makes you feel that you have eaten enough while eating from a larger plate makes you pile up your plate with more food which in turn makes you eat more calories. Fill up your stomach only up to 80% We have been raised to eat until we are absolutely full so we don’t feel hungry later. Either that or because traditionally Indian consider it a taboo to leave any food on the plates so we eat off the kids plates because he/she won’t eat anymore, also we have seen our moms finish the leftover paratha or grab an extra spoon rice even if they are not too hungry, just so that they don’t have to throw it away as they are usually the last ones to eat. Not realising how much damage we are doing to our bodies by eating more than what our body needs. However, it is better to stuff ourselves and only eat until we feel adequately full. Yes, you will feel hungry after few hours and that ok. It only means less pressure on your intestines and delaying the ageing process of the cells which can prevent heart attacks, diabetes and cancer. Eat small snacks every few hours. Having said that eating till you are 80% full will make you hungry for more, it is a good practice to eat 5-6 meals a day instead of the traditional 3 meal pattern of breakfast, lunch and dinner. Eat a healthy snack like a fresh whole fruit or nuts like almonds, walnuts, unsalted peanuts, pumpkin seeds, low fat curd or unsalted chaas, hard boiled eggs between main meals every 2-3 hours. This will help to keep you burning more calories throughout the day as the digestion process continuous to keep your metabolism up and running. Also, your body will thank you for feeling light and energetic throughout the day because of the regular supply of an array of nutrients and maintaining your blood sugar levels Have a light supper or dinner As they say, Eat breakfast like a King, Lunch like a commoner and dinner like a popper it is important to start the day with a filling wholesome breakfast to kick start your metabolism and taper down your meals as the sun goes down. Your last meal should happen atleast 3 hours before your bedtime so the body has enough time to digest the meal properly before you go to bed. If you eat a heavy meal too close to bedtime, the body cannot digest it properly leading to indigestion, acid reflux, disturbed sleep making you wake up next morning feeling sluggish and tired. As the day goes the body tends to slow down and to go into a repair and recovery mode to heal the body from the days stress and wear and tear. Also, since we are not physically active in the night time all the excess calories get stored as fat in the body Eat vegetables first Vegetables are full of fibre and when you consume them first, this fibre helps to cover whatever is eaten after and inhibits insulin spikes and the speed at which sugar is transported into the blood. Proteins such as fish, chicken, paneer or sprouts are harder to digest when they are eaten first and everything else eaten after would take time making you feel bloated. Raw vegetables contain a digestive enzyme that helps break down proteins. Eat more fiber Eating more fiber, makes feel fuller, can increase satiety and makes you lose weight. Make sure you eat about 3-4 servings of fruits and vegetables, raw or cooked throughout the day Reduce sugar as much as possible Tips for quick weight loss \ blogs \ Just for Hearts Tips for quick weight loss \ blogs \ Just for Hearts To achieve a flatter belly, make sure you have as low as zero grams of sugar. Opt for healthier natural sweetener such as honey, dates, dates syrup, figs but don’t overdo it. Add chopped strawberries or other fruits like apples, pear to your morning oatmeal to satisfy the sweet tooth. Adding a little cinnamon or ilaichi to your food and coffee or tea also add some flavour and helps to maintain your blood sugar levels Tea is key Green tea has zero calories and is loaded with antioxidants that helps to clear the system of any toxins and help in digestion of the food consumed. The catechin found in green tea have been proven to increase your metabolism even when you are not physically active which makes it an excellent alternative to your regular chai or other creamy beverages. Drink up Gustling down water is indeed the easiest thing you can do for your body to lose the love handles. Your body needs water in order to efficiently metabolize stored fat. When you shortchange your supply, you’re likely to slow down that process, meaning it’s more difficult for you to burn calories. An easy breezy eight glasses a day (at least!) will keep your system running smoothly. One study showed that drinking a half liter (17 oz) of water about a half an hour before meals helped dieters eat fewer calories and lose 44% more weight. Indulge in moderation Once in a while it is fine to go easy and treat yourself to a favourite food like a cheesy pasta or a sinful dessert provided you have been good with your diet all week Count your calories There are studies showing that keeping a food diary and writing down what you eat, or taking pictures of all your meals, can help you lose weight. Anything that increases your awareness of what you are eating is likely to be useful.

Men's Issue - Erectile Dysfunction

MD - General Medicine
Sexologist, Delhi
Men's Issue - Erectile Dysfunction

Erectile dysfunction is statistically a problem for 50% of men over 40. Commonly called impotence it happens for many different reasons. Erectile dysfunction can be due to physiological or physical issues such as anxiety, depression and stress. Past events can trigger fear, guilt or pre-conceived incorrect ideas of what it means to be a man. Emotional and relationship problems can also take their toll. Emotional repercussions of erectile dysfunction are loss of self-esteem which is part of the reason this issue is not as freely discussed as it could be in media and amongst men.

  • Physically the cause can be medication, drugs, alcohol, overweight or hormonal issues. In modern times such drugs as Viagra may appear helpful but, as all drugs, have their side effects. Viagra can be quite dangerous depending on your blood pressure and condition of your heart and can become addictive. This means that performance becomes even less as the person becomes dependent on taking the drug.
  • Amongst medications drugs regulating blood pressure, antidepressants and immune suppressants may alter the acidity of the system and indirectly affect feedback between the reproductive organs and the brain. This also applies to alcohol and drugs such as cannabis. Nevertheless, recent studies have found that the most common cause of dysfunction is due to overweight which affects the genital area also with weight gain in the tissues. This narrows the arteries lumen and decreases blood flow. In this case the easiest solution is to lose weight. Yoga can also be helpful by increasing blood flow to the reproductive area. Hindu squats and working on the base chakra can also assist. Remember that your body, thoughts and emotions are all inter-related so working on one area will enhance other areas also.
  • If the issue is due to hormone problems these are often related with thyroid issues and again, this causes a problem with feedback between genital regions and the thyroid creating a vicious cycle of deficiency in hormones secretions.
  • There are a variety of different ways to handle erectile dysfunction depending of the causes. If there are anxiety issues they tend to cause the hormones to dry up. Herbs such as Ashwagandha can be helpful as they balance the intra cell ph. Brahmi and liquorice may also help as they enhance and balance the brain.
  • So if you are having issues with erectile dysfunction don't ignore it as there is much you can do without taking drugs that will perhaps have harmful side effects. Consult a natural therapist who can perhaps use Naturopathy, NLP, herbs, supplements, Hypnotherapy and many other natural means to get your energy and physiology back in sync.

Getting Pregnant Can Be Harder Than It Looks!

MBBS, DNB (Obstetrics and Gynecology), FNB
Gynaecologist, Delhi
Play video

Hi dear friends. I am Dr Bhavna Mittal I am a gynaecologist and I am practising at my own hospital that is Shivam surgical and maternity centre in East of Delhi. Now getting pregnant which seemed very simple earlier has become a major task these days for ladies, why is it so earlier we hear from our mothers old aunts that they used to get pregnant every year and they would do all household work and have a very healthy normal delivery and each of them had at least 4-5- 6 babies. These days for a lady to have a normal single pregnancy have become a huge task why it is so because of our life styles our values our food habits are changing . So if u are pregnant or you are planning to be, the first thing to do is:

  • To improve your lifestyle.
  • You should concentrate on a good regime
  • Good daily schedule, that is you should be getting adequate sleep of 6-7 hours.
  • Having a normal bowel habit in the morning doing at least 20-30 mins light exercise per day.
  • Daily regime of diet which includes fruits, salads, antioxidants, vegetables, daals and less of junk foods and outside food.
  • There are some indirect toxins like smoking, alcohol, which also harm our body. Now a days it is not uncommon, even for females to consume alcohol or caffeine or smoking routinely. So if you are on the family way you should avoid these things.
  • Also if you are taking some kinds of medicines for something, then you should be sure of the content and that it does not interfere with getting pregnant or during pregnancy.

Once you are pregnant, the first thing to do is to conduct a urine pregnancy test. So if you have missed your period you can yourself check it with a urine pregnancy kit and if it is coming positive you can visit your doctor. Also these days it is important to take pre-conception. Visit that before you ever think of getting pregnant. Its nice that you can visit the doctor, they can conduct some basic test on you and your husband and be sure that you both of you are healthy enough to carry pregnancy. After the doctor will put you on some medicines, like folic acid. Studies have shown that women who were on folic acid 3 months prior to getting pregnant did much better during pregnancy in terms of the health of the baby and the mother than once who did not take any medication so you can be on some basic vitamins supplements like folic acid before getting pregnant. Once you conceive and your test is showing positive, it's time to visit the doctor this time the doctor will explain you the precautions which are to be taken during pregnancy. Also the doctor will check from time to time in terms of your blood test, urine test and the ultrasounds which are to be done during pregnancy. You may also be put on some supplements of iron calcium folic acid or if required some hormones from time to time

Now I would like to remove some common myths which are there about pregnancy people do fear that what should be the exact weight gain during pregnancy. Normally by American standards, the weight gain during pregnancy should be 10- 13 kg during whole 9 months. So that gives us a target of around 1.5 kg per month now this may not even for everyone so a lady may not gain for the first 3 months because of vomiting and then she may gain 2-3 kgs per month later on so the average comes out to be 1.5kg. So the average should be the same it may not be even through out the 9 months for people who gain less weight sometimes there’s a issue with the growth of the bab. Similarly people who gain more weight also have more tendency to develop blood pressure diabetes and other problems during pregnancy so ideal kind of weight gain is important second thing which is important is what you are gaining on so you may be gaining this one and a half kg a month on junk food or namkeens or unhealthy food or you could be gaining on healthy food like proteins eggs fish milk daal milk products foods salads soups so one should be very careful on choice of diet also avoid any kind of harmful preservatives or chemicals like Chinese food and all the chemicals which are there you could have home prepared normal food which does not contain any of these artificial additives for a normal healthy pregnancy you are allowed to do your routine activities but still you should avoid very heavy type of exhaustion and travelling the 2nd trimester of pregnancy that is third to 6th month is actually the safest part of pregnancy so if you need to travel or do any other activity it should be done in the middle part the initial 3 moths and the last 3 months are not the safe time to do the same even flights do not allow travelling after 7 months completed of pregnancy or they will ask you for a special certificate for that  Then keep on visiting your doctor regularly and follow the advice if any problem is coming up then please follow your doctor accordingly friends I am available on lybrate in case you have any questions related to getting pregnant or about pregnancy please feel free to ask me on lybrate.

I will happy to help thank you

If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult an IVF Specialist.

Please take fluoric acid 30 - twice daily for next 2 weeks. Apply jaborandi hair oil. Also use arnica shampoo. Drink 8-10 glasses of water daily. Eat healthy and balanced food like pulses, green leafy vegetables, fresh fruits and nuts etc. Add more vitamin rich food to your diet. Avoid stress and anger by meditation. Cut down the use of hair spray, hair gel. Take sound/good sleep. Avoid too much exposure of your hair to sunlight/ hair styling tools, as they damage hair and cause split ends. Continue treatment.
