I have been wearing my temporary retainers since 2 months. Because of frequent removal of it, I have got angular cheilitis problem which is in the initial stage. Kindly suggest some ointment for the same.

BDS, MDS
Dentist, Gorakhpur
There are many over the counter medicines for angular cheilitis. You can get triamcinolone acetonide or Kenacort topical gel 0.1%, apply 2-3 times over the affected area, it will take 4- 5 days to heal as the area affected is a movable part so repairing is slow compared to other body parts. Try to clean the area with medicated soap 2-3 times daily till problem is resolved.

Wen I shake my teeth they feel shake. Could you suggest me some ways on how I can keep my teeth strong.

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)

There are many causes of yellow or discolored teeth. A few of the most common: 1.Drinks: Coffee and red wine cause major damage to teeth.. But other drinks with high acidity, such as soda, juices and even sports drinks can cause staining on the teeth. Even white wine is not far behind in staining our teeth yellow, because its tannins and acidic nature wear away at the tooth enamel. These Acidic drinks lowers the Ph of teeth below 6 thus causing corrosive wear and tear of teeths. 2.Certain Foods: Colored candies, popsicles and other bright foods can cause staining over time. Think of it this way – if your tongue turns a bright shade of blue, chances are your teeth are getting some of that discoloration, too. Even healthy foods such as berries (blueberries, cranberries, raspberries) can stain teeth. Ketchup, curry and other sauces can cause staining problems over time, too. 3,Natural Aging Process: Quite simply, teeth yellow over time. It’s a natural part of the aging process that the white protective coatings wear down over time. So the longer you have your teeth, the more likely they are to become yellow or discolored. 4.Most of us are guilty of at least some of the above (and none of us can stop time). But the good news is that even if red wine is one of your vices and your teeth look yellower lately, there are things you can do to bring back the white. 5.How to make Teeth white (a)Avoid Certain Foods/Drinks When Possible: We’re not asking you to give up your morning coffee, just to reduce the intake of the above foods as much as possible. Sometimes simply being aware can help us make better choices. (b)Drink Water: After you’ve consumed a tooth-staining food or drink try to immediately follow it with a glass of water. Swirling water around your mouth can drastically help clear away the acids or staining. This simple step is free and easy, and can drastically help reduce tooth discoloration. (c)Proper Dental Hygiene: Proper brushing, flossing and regular dental checkups help keep teeth healthy for a lifetime. Develop these habits early and you’re less likely to have dental problems down the line. (d)Teeth Whitening: The good news is that there are many options available to whiten teeth. Some can be done at home while others can take help of Homoeopathic medicines. Homoeopathic medicine HEKLA LAVA TOOTH POWDER ( WHEEZAL) Scrub teeth daily night RINSEOUT ( SBL) Gargles 20 drops in 20 ml luke warm water.Gargles 3 times daily while holding water for 20 seconds in mouth esp.after meals.

how do you get rid of bad breath?

BDS
Dentist, Bangalore
how do you get rid of bad breath?
Here are 3 effective tips that you can help you fight bad breath and keep your mouth healthy on a daily basis.

Practice Good Oral Hygiene

If you’re suffering from bad breath problems, it is important that you brush and floss twice a day. Use fluoride-based toothpaste that will help you to keep your mouth clean and remove food debris and plaque. It is also important to brush your teeth before you go to bed because bacteria can grow in your mouth while you’re asleep. It is also important that you scrape your tongue to remove any residue that may be building up after you eat your meals.

Keep Your Mouth Moist

Keeping your mouth moist is another way to eliminate bad breath issues which is why you need to ensure that you drink good amount of water throughout the day. Drinking adequate amount of water will help you stay hydrated as well. You can also chew sugarless chewing gums or candies that can stimulate production of saliva in your mouth to wash away food particles and bacteria. Choose chewing gums that have xylitol are always recommended.

Watch What You Eat

Certain foods can trigger bad breath in your mouth and therefore you need to keep log of what food you eat. This will help you to narrow down certain food items that worsen your bad breath problems. Similarly, there are certain medications that also trigger mouth odour, hence it is recommended that you talk about it with your dentist. Stay away from tobacco products and avoid smoking which also leads to bad breath issues.

We recommend that you visit your dentist regularly, at least twice a year to conduct an oral exam and professional teeth cleaning and to ensure that your mouth is clean and healthy. Your dentist will also be able to help you know whether the bad breath problem is due to general health conditions or triggered due to any food item or medications.

Soft drinks, cordials and fruit juices should be consumed in a limited quantity because they are acidic in nature. Acidic food or drinks often soften the tooth material which leads to the dissolution of minerals into the tooth enamel, resulting in cavities (holes)

kindly get scaling done and use gum paint and mouth wash twice daily for 15 days. brush your teeth twice daily using correct brushing technique to maintain your oral hygiene. also notice that you are not constipated most of the times as this is also one of the reasons for bad breath.

Hi Dr. my name is sahil. I m facing pain in my upper last tooth from the past 2-3days. please provide a solution.

Wisdom teeth usually make their appearance between the ages of 17 and 21, though it's possible for them to push through earlier or later. Referred to as your "third molars," these four teeth begin to push through the skin like any other tooth, which can cause pain. However, wisdom teeth are much more likely to grow in at an incorrect angle – even sideways – causing impaction that can radiate this pain to the teeth in front of it

How can I clean my teeth and clean our yellowness which is on teeth. And how can I clean teeth ?

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
Cause of discoloration ? Smoking, coffee, tea, drugs, aging, staining food (wine, blueberry, etc) genetics. We need more investigations with clinical examination to decide upon treatment. You may need deep cleaning along with whitening (bleaching) procedures and / or artificial enamel filling and / or capping. Advance procedures can be done with laser. Use Snowdent tooth paste for whitening until then. Apply SNOWDENT paste on the teeth. Wait for 10 to 15 min .Then brush your teeth with the same paste. Applying it overnight for better results. DENTAL TIPS: - Visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months.

Wait an hour after eating or drinking anything before brushing as then enamel will be softened and you could be brushing away tiny particles.

My second last teeth is entirely dead, and I can't chew from that side, ut was bleeding 1 or 2 week ago, what should I do?

MDS - Orthodontics, BDS
Dentist, Yamunanagar
First of all. How did you identify that it's dead and if it is, nonvital (the term which is used instead of dead), it needs to be treated by rct. As far as bleeding is concerned, it would most likely be from gum in that area which is a separate issue.

Gastritis, lung & sinus infection may also be the cause of bad smell in the mouth. 90% of bad breath is due to a dirty tongue. We need more investigations with clinical examination to decide upon treatment. You may need deep cleaning. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with a mouth wash until then. Advance procedures can be done with laser too. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay.
