I'm 49 yr. Old. Had hysterectomy 11 months back. I want to know what drink I take to detoxify me. And what diet I should follow to loose weight. I don't eat oily food because I have severe acidity. Pl help.

Dietitian/Nutritionist, Chandigarh
Hi lybrate-user incorporate more fruits, vegetables, and whole grains into your diet while eliminating unhealthy foods. - if you are working or studying away from home, try to pack healthy lunch and snacks for yourself to avoid eating unhealthy food daily. - don't eat straight from the packet - use a plate or bowl to control how much you eat. - don't delay or skip meals. - cut down your consumption of aerated drinks and sodas. - drink at least 8 glasses of water every day. Drink water after waking up and before sleeping. Being dehydrated may make you feel like you're hungry, so it is important to stay hydrated. - have homemade fruit and vegetable juices - eat 5-6 small healthy meals every 2-3 hours, every day, instead of having a few big ones. This regulates your blood sugar level and your metabolism. - don't skip breakfast, instead, make it rich with complex carbohydrates and proteins, so it can provide you with energy to get through the day. Try to include the following as your morning breakfast, oats porridge, eggs on multigrain toast or daliya with sprouts. - avoid artificial sweeteners in processed foods. - eat slowly as it takes about 20 minutes for your brain to register if you're full or not. Eating too fast leads to overeating, so chew slowly to digest your food better and control how much you eat. - use a smaller plate to control your portion sizes and avoid overeating. - know your cravings and do not snack when you're emotional. It is said that you crave crunchy and savory food when you're stressed, frustrated or lonely. Figure out what you crave and replace them with healthier alternatives. - do not eat mindlessly; concentrate on your food instead of watching tv or playing with your phone to avoid overeating.

Respected dr, my allopathic Dr. advised me when I am in allopathic treatment never to take herbals, but ayur drs advice to supplement/complement with herbal medicines, especially in diabetes, kindly enlighten---thanks in advance.

Endocrinologist, Hubli-Dharwad
Mr. lybrate-user, Diabetes can only be treated effectively with modern medicines. The drugs or various therapies advertised by alternate medical practices have very little role to play in treating diabetes. Unfortunately a lot lofty claims are made, but there are no supportive clinical studies. Sometimes, certain medications are used as a supportive or additional therapies. The real benefit is a big question mark. At best those are just supportive drugs. Thanks.

My aunt goes for the test called urine culture and sensitivity the report has been generated and it says sterile after 24 hours of aerobic incubation at 37 degree C. And in culture column it says no growth. What does it means is there something serious?

The report says everything is normal .Growth means growth of organisms if present in the urine that causes urinary tract infection. No growth means no organisms and no infection.

Hi doctor, I am suffering from erectile dysfunction and premature ejaculation. Sometimes, penis gets erected and sometimes, it doesn't properly. Penis got small than earlier. I am married for 2 years. Before marriage, I used To masturbate. It seems that affected penis. I want to get my penis thicker, stronger and harder. I get sexually active when in touch with my wife. However, penis remain sleepy and down. When I wish I to have sex and think about sex then it does not erect. However. It gets erected when I kiss and feel her body. But I feel my penis not so stronger and harder.

PhD Human Genetics
Hi, Masturbation certainly is not the cause of reduction in the penis size. Actually penis takes different sizes at different times when flaccid, but it may also appear smaller under two circumstances: when NOT FULLY erect; when it is partly sunk into the pubic fat. SO, i cant say unless i see you. Regarding the other problem you would benefit from either a direct consultation or a phone consultation.

Congratulation to your new life. Your bed habits can damage your sexual fuction, respiratory functions, brain functions, cardiovascular functions. But it accurs after period of long time (7 to 10 year) so, you are fully heathy and if any damage accurs to your body it will automatically become healthy after stoping it.

Do you have sweating even while feeling cold? sweating by itself is rarely a medical emergency. However, if sweating is accompanied by additional symptoms such as chills, lightheadedness, or chest or stomach pain seek immediate medical attention. A cold sweat can be your body's response to an underlying problem, such as a heart attack. Contact me privately if you experience any of the following: you suddenly begin to sweat more than usual. Sweating disrupts your daily routine. You experience night sweats for no apparent reason. Most types of excessive sweating respond well to treatment. Do reply back for medication prescriptions. Being also a general physician and registered dietitian, I prescribe both evidence based herbal as well as allopathic medicines complementing with dietary guidelines and home remedies carefully personalized for each individual patient.

I am 35 male suffering from snoring problem at night specially in winter. I noticed that I have a polyp on my right nose. I want a homeopathy solution over the matter.

General Physician, Gurgaon
Hello, I am giving you some health tips for snoring problem Lifestyle changes to stop snoring Lose weight. If you’re overweight Exercise exercising your arms, legs, and abs, for example, also leads to toning the muscles in your throat, which in turn can lead to less snoring Quit smoking. smoking irritates the membranes in the nose and throat which can block the airways and cause snoring. Avoid alcohol, sleeping pills, and sedatives because they relax the muscles in the throat Establish regular sleep patterns. Create a healthy bedtime ritual with your partner and stick to it Clear nasal passages. If you have a stuffy nose Keep bedroom air moist. Dry air can irritate membranes in the nose and throat, so if swollen nasal tissues are the problem, a humidifier may help. Change your sleeping position. Elevating your head four inches may ease breathing Sleep on your side instead of your back Consult chest Physician for further management

Aids you get only if you have sexual contact with a person who already have it or because of some other reason like infected blood transfusion or syringes etc so just be careful about all the factors.

Regarding Sleepless. I go to bed exactly at 2200 hrs after watching tv program, but after a while I don't feel sleepy and many questions are there after I go to the bed. I usually off my light, music etc and on with dim lights (as per your free solution). So is it necessary to take medicine before going to bed? Thank you.

It is not advisable to take medicine just for getting sleep. You need to free your mind of thoughts to get natural sleep. Kindly consult me personally for detailed guidance.
