You should target for a good control of asthma. I. E. Your asthma should not be producing any symptoms. To obtain this target you should be properly using your asthma medicines, specially the inhalers, according to step up or step down requirement of treatment as per your symptoms, judged by your pulmonolgist.

My 5-year-old daughter has asthma. What is the effect of using an asthma preventer long-term?

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
Hi. Bronchitis or Asthma can be treated well with homoeopathic medicines completely, only need to be regular with the medication and avoid those foods/ things to which you are allergic to for sometime. As well as there are no side-effects of these medicines if taken under the guidance of a qualified homoeopath, so can be given even to a newborn baby!! Keep taking your already on going medication, reduce it gradually and slowly once homoeopathic starts acting. Take Bakson's Astha-Aid drops/ 10-15 drops in 1/2 cup water/ thrice d day for 1 month. Report me back after a month.

My 2.10 yr old son, is getting fever every 15 days (high fever) since last 3-4 months. Generally accompanied with Cough and throat infection. What to do? I am really worried about the frequency of this and his intake of antibiotics.

MD - Paediatrics, MBBS
Pediatrician, Tumkur
I think your child is going to pre nursery which is a place to contract frequent infections. They are viral infections and I think you are using frequent antibiotics which suppress the immunity further.

M suffering from breathing problem during running please give me useful suggestion.

MBBS
General Physician, Fatehabad
Hi lybrate-user, Proper breathing during your run can help increase your endurance and provide your muscles with the oxygenated blood they need to sustain your run. This will also help you to prevent breathlessness. 1. Practice breathing before you run. While it may seem silly to practice something your body does instinctively, proper breathing technique while running could mean the difference between feeling out of breath and going the distance. Lie on the floor with your hand on your belly and breathe in deeply. Breathe deeply enough that your hand rises over your belly. This allows the oxygen to flow through your lungs for optimal intake. 2. Begin your workout with static stretching. While traditional stretching, where you lengthen each major muscle group, is necessary, static stretching helps to warm your muscles and regulate your breath before you begin running. It also allows you to practice your breathing rhythm before you begin. Walk or jog slowly for five to 10 minutes before you begin, taking the time to focus on breathing in deeply and exhaling in a controlled manner. 3. Breathe in and out using a cadence. A running cadence is a rhythm of breathing controlled by counts. While some runners prefer an uneven cadence of two breaths in and two breaths out, others prefer inhaling for three counts and exhaling for two. Try both cadences and adjust the counts until you reach a cadence that helps you feel in control and comfortable during your run. 4. Listen to music as you run or count your footsteps to control your cadence. By choosing music that has the appropriate amount of beats per minute for the pace you run, you'll automatically have a way to remember when to breathe in and out. 5. Breathe through both your nose and your mouth, if possible. This allows the most oxygen intake possible by taking in oxygen through both airways. If you feel out of breath when running with your mouth closed, it's likely because you aren't taking in enough oxygen through your nose alone. Hope this helps. Good luck.
