I did scaling 2 months before and have been using hex mouthwash since then (I used it for the first 15 days and then using it after a month. I could see that that tartar buildup has started a little as my lower four teeth are crowned. What should I do?

Mouth wash are an adjunctive to our daily cleaning chores - brushing, flossing etc. Be sure to Always rinse after eating and follow the rule of brushing twice a day. The soft deposit mostly get cleaned by brushing, if the deposit is hard you may then need professional cleaning. If your deposit is only occuring on your bridge then there are chances that you have food lodgement in that area. If your bridge is not faulty then make sure that your cleansing routine is thorough. Always use a floss in Bwn your bridge and adjacent natural tooth. Super floss in the area under your bridge if you have spacing and food lodgement there. U may need guidance of your doc initially to learn how to floss and super floss. Do visit your doc once in 6 months for professional cleaning. If you are sure that your cleaning regimen is fine then consult your doc to check fr faulty bridge.

I am getting bad smell through my mouth while speaking kindly suggest suitable medicine to avoid smells.

I am getting bad smell through my mouth while speaking kindly suggest suitable medicine to avoid smells.
•Eat a healthy, balanced diet and avoid eating strongly flavoured or spicy food. •Cut down on sugary food and drink, as it can increase the amount of bacteria in your mouth. •Reduce your alcohol consumption. •Stop smoking. •Cut down on coffee. •Drink plenty of water to help prevent your mouth becoming dry. •Chew sugar-free gum after eating, to stimulate the flow of saliva. This will help clean away any remaining food particles. •Don't use toothpaste to clean your dentures, as it can scratch the surface and cause stains. •Clean your dentures thoroughly using soap and lukewarm water, denture cream or a denture-cleaning tablet. •Use a separate toothbrush to clean your dentures. •Make sure you visit your dentist for regular check-ups. Having regular dental check-ups will ensure that any plaque is removed from your teeth, particularly in areas that are difficult to reach. •Your dentist can recommend the best way to clean your teeth and gums, and point out areas you might be missing. They can also identify any signs of gum disease and ensure early treatment. •Gastritis, lung & sinus infection may also be the cause of bad smell in the mouth. 90% of bad breath is due to a dirty tongue. •If your bad breath is caused by a gastrointestinal problem, such as an H. Pylori infection or gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD), you may be referred to a gastroenterologist. •Persistent bad breath or a bad taste in the mouth may be a warning sign of gum (periodontal) disease. Gum disease is caused by the buildup of plaque on teeth. •You may need deep cleaning & fill tooth cavities with artificial enamel filling. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with a mouth wash until then. Advance procedures can be done with laser too. You may consult me in person.

Hello Lybrate user, gap in between teeth can easily be closed by wearing braces. It takes approximately 8 to 14 months to finish the treatment. In india it usually costs from 30 to 50k. Few other methods to close the gaps are laminates and veneers. Visit a dentist to find out which is suitable for your case. According to me go for braces, it takes time but you will have beautiful smile for your life.

Its surprising to know tooth erupting at age of 26! still you can take either ibuprofen 400mg three times a day or tramadol 50mg three times a day (assuming that you are not having any other medical conditions - pregnancy etc.) later show it to your dentist. I would like to see the picture of your tooth which is eruption at this age.

Sjogren's Syndrome - Why It Happens?

Sjogren's Syndrome - Why It Happens?

Sjögren’s Syndrome/Sicca syndorme is a condition which is an autoimmune disease. This condition has no treatment with conventional system of medicines. Patients are advised to survive on Steroidal Remedies or immunosuppressive medicines. These medicines have severe side effects on the body and lead to the poor quality of life. A patient doesn’t get the relief from the disease. But starts inviting other complications with all such treatments. Sukhayu Ayurved is a prime institution Sjögren's Syndrome treatment in Ayurveda of Ayurveda where we are providing Sjögren’s Syndrome treatment in Ayurveda.

What happens in Sjögren’s Syndrome?
Dry eyes and dry mouth are two main symptoms which appear in Sjögren’s Syndrome. Other than these there are several other symptoms too

  • Joint pain is another common symptom of Sjögren’s Syndrome. Morning stiffness might be present just similar to the rheumatoid arthritis. Prolonged fatigue and tiredness also appear in these cases.
  • Because of lack of saliva- salivary glands start swelling up. This happens due to heavy working of the glands. Skin rashes along with dry skin is also another symptom of Sjögren’s Syndrome. Due to dryness in throat, patients come with a complaint of regular dry cough.
  • Apart from all these signs and symptoms the most common thing in Sjögren’s Syndrome is – dry eyes and dry mouth. The noun dry eye syndrome and dry mouth syndrome are also in use because of the commonness of these symptoms.

Ayurveda About Sjögren’s Syndrome

The main thing in the treatment is the correct diagnosis. Until unless we don’t have the correct diagnosis in Ayurvedic terms, it is hard to treat or take a case for any of the diseases. When it comes to the Sjögren’s Syndrome, team of Sukhayu Ayurved has worked hard to pinpoint the ayurvedic diagnosis. This is Udaka Vaha Srotas Dushti! If we look at the classical reference of the same we find the same-

In this reference Charaka says that this is the “turbulence” in the Udaka Vaha Srotas. Which leads to the dryness of the tongue, palate, lips and throat along with excessive thirst. This is the thing which has similar reference to the Sjögren’s Syndrome.

Sjögren’s Syndrome Treatment in Ayurveda
Once we have a direct reference to the diagnosis, we need the Chikitsa Sutra and that we find in the same reference very much loud and clear- तृष्णोपशामनि तथैवामप्रदोषीकी! That clearly indicates that we should work on the toxins- Aama, which are the main thing in any of the autoimmune or immune system related conditions- which are the root cause of the problem. Along with that we need to pacify the thirst.

In Ayurved every treatment is given in terms of Sutra- the line of treatment and we follow the text as it is in every case, whether it is a complicated cancer and Sjögren’s Syndrome or simple fever. The actual treatment is given in accordance to the condition of the patient.  Bio-constitution (Prakriti) and complete examination of the patient, is important in Ayurved.

For Sjögren’s Syndrome treatment in Ayurveda, a patient needs to stay with us for 16 days, we give Basti treatment along with medicines- in start it is an IPD treatment later on you need to continue the medicines for 5 to 6 months for complete control on the condition. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult an ayurveda.

I am suffering from wisdom teeth problem. It is pain a little bit with little swelling.

I am suffering from wisdom teeth problem. It is pain a little bit with little swelling.
17 to 21 years is the age where you wisdom teeth erupts. So its common to have slight pain or discomfort associated with teething (eruption of teeth) if it is wisdom teeth pain, you can wait and see for few days so that pain subsides by itself, mean while you can take a course of pain killers for few days. If the pain does not subside or the pain is from the other teeth you can get a OPG (full mouth x-ray) done and consult a dentist at the earliest.
