Dos And Don'ts For Diabetics

MBBS
General Physician, Mumbai
Dos And Don'ts For Diabetics

Diabetes is a disease which makes a person pay a greater amount of attention to himself or herself and his/her lifestyle habits. In order to fight diabetes successfully, some dos and don’ts really need to be followed. Let’s look at a few of them.

It is very important to make sure that a diabetic patient eats food at regular intervals. The risk of not following this is that the sugar level in the blood will drop, which in turn, will lead to a case of low blood sugar. This condition is known as hypoglycemia. This is especially true when it comes to people who have diabetes and are on heavy medication to keep it under control.

Carbohydrates are part and parcel of a balanced diet. Having said that, it is important to keep an eye on the type of carbohydrates which are being consumed. What this means is that simple carbohydrates should make way in the diet of a diabetic person rather than complex carbohydrates. As such, rice, white pasta and similar items should be replaced in the diet with oats and wheat. This can go a long way in helping you fight diabetes.

Exercise is pretty much the closest thing that has been found to the fabled elixir of life! There are plenty of benefits of doing a little bit of exercise on a consistent and daily basis. From cutting the risk of cancer to preserving the youth of the brain for as long as possible, exercise helps the cause.

Fat loss is yet another recommended way to keep a check on diabetes and exercise is the best way to go about it! When it comes to diabetes, patients are often advised to go for regular walks as it helps our body in using insulin, reduces glucose levels and cuts down on a person’s stress.

So, about an hour of walking, at least five days a week can really go a long way in helping a person who has diabetes.

Smoking is a strict no-no if a person is diagnosed with diabetes, as diabetic patients have higher chances of strokes and heart ailments. Also if you are addicted or habituated in drinking soft drinks, sports drinks or any other beverages which are high in sugar, it’s time to say goodbye to them, once you are diagnosed with diabetes.

The adherence to a strict regimen is great, but the usefulness is lowered if a person has binge days where the plan is not stuck to. While breaks from a diet are required; they should be reasonable and as infrequent as possible.

First of all, your penis size when erect is normal. Secondly, there is no proven method or medicine, natural or otherwise, to increase penis size except by surgery, which is risky. I think that this anxiety itself may cause a lot of problems and for this I recommend that you visit a sexologist who will counsel you out of this misery. What you need to explore, in fact, is indulgence in more active foreplay, especially for your wife’s benefit. If she is primed up to experience orgasm along with your penetration, I see a lot of hope in her surely enjoying sex with you, satisfactorily. In fact, there is a time during penetration when her attempt to make her cervix reach out to touch the tip of your penis while in the act of intercourse, is much more gratifying and out-of-this-world experience. Then penis size (if it is larger) actually hampers this possibility. So it is a matter of good timing and right experience that can ultimately lead to her satiation.

Your head ache can be due to so many reasons such as indigestion, sleeplessness, cold or sinus, hot sun, excessive work, mental tension etc. Please try to identify and tell me reasons as you experience. Homoeopathy has a good treatment for this, which acts internally without adverse effects. Take belladonna 200 once in the morning and once in the evening for 4 days and give feedback.

Dear lybrate user, try the following tips to help soothe pain and ease into your day: 1> take a warm shower or bath - warm showers or baths at bedtime and in the morning will help to relax muscles. 2> avoid caffeine, alcohol, and nicotine 3> exercise - exercising during the day will increase restful sleep at night. Physical stretching exercises such as yoga helps in relaxation too. 4> practice healthy sleep habits. * sometimes, deficiency of essential minerals causes generalised body pain and laziness, hence go for a body check-up, if the above tips do not help.

It can happen at this age but before going for any drugs, it is important to diagnose the cause and treat that cause, otherwise no drug can help you.

I am a diabetic patient for last 13 years I am taking regular medicine for that not insulin my fasting report is 229 one week before suggest what remedies I have to take?

PGDD, RD, Bachelor of Home Science
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Mumbai
For a diabetic it is best advised to have a diet planned as per the sugar levels, lifestyle and history. Though you can follow some guidelines - have small frequent meals. Do not fast for more than 2-3 hours. Avoid a very heavy meal at one time. Avoid fruit juices, aerated drinks or sugarcane juice, honey, jaggery or sugar. Fruits should be had as a mid meal. Avoid junk foods. Exercise and stay active. Do not attempt to try out too many remedies as you could go into hypoglycaemia. Sleep well. It's all a matter of discipline.

Hi onion is very good vegetable to treat sexual impotence. It increases libido and strengthens reproducing organs. White onions are best for this purpose. Take about 5-10 gm root powder of Ladyfinger in a glass of milk. Add 2 tsp of mishri in this milk and drink it. This will prove helpful in improving sexual vigour. Apply pranacharya gopal oil on your penis and give a massage. It will strengthen your nerves and erection power will get better. You can take ayurvedic medicines too along with this.
