Hi, There are two types of insomnia: primary insomnia and secondary insomnia. Primary insomnia: Primary insomnia means that a person is having sleep problems that are not directly associated with any other health condition or problem. Secondary insomnia: Secondary insomnia means that a person is having sleep problems because of something else, such as a health condition (like asthma, depression, arthritis, cancer, or heartburn); pain; medication they are taking; or a substance they are using (like alcohol). Sleep plays a vital role in good health and well-being throughout your life. Getting enough quality sleep at the right times can help protect your mental health, physical health, quality of life, and safety. In children and teens, sleep also helps support growth and development. The damage from sleep deficiency can occur in an instant (such as a car crash), or it can harm you over time. For example, ongoing sleep deficiency can raise your risk for some chronic health problems. It also can affect how well you think, react, work, learn, and get along with others. Management: Here are five tips everyone can use to help improve the quality of their sleep: Keep your bedroom cool and dark Put away/turn off all electronic devices while preparing for bedtime Stick to a regular bedtime and wake time every day, even on weekends Stop drinking caffeine by the early afternoon and avoid large late-night meals Skip the late-afternoon nap, as it can make it harder to sleep at bedtime Avoid taking unnecessary stress/ tension. Do regular exercise. Go for a brisk walk in the morning. Medication: Take Schwabe's Bacopa Monierri 1x/ thrice daily and Kali Phos./ once daily at night for 1 month. For concentration: Take homoeopathic medicine - Anacardium 200/ once daily. Management: -Take 6-9 hrs. Of sound sleep at same time daily. -Make a clear plan that meets your needs beforehand. Take 5 or 10 minutes break in between, and use this time to check email, and then close your inbox and move on to your most important task. When making a plan be sure to allocate enough time for entertainment, studies and sleep. -Choose a place of your choice for concentration. School libraries, study lounges and private rooms are the best. Above all, the place that you choose should not be distracting. Try to stay away from other people if you want to concentrate on your work. -Develop a controlled and balanced diet. Overeating creates a huge load of digestion and can make you feel uncomfortable and sleepy. Eating light and healthy meals can help you maximize your ability to concentrate. -The ability to concentrate depends a lot upon our physical well-being. If we are tired, unhealthy and afflicted by numerous minor ailments, concentration will be more difficult. Of course, concentration is still possible, but it is just more difficult. -Continuous work in the same place can drive anyone crazy. Taking constant breaks can solve the problem. This will make you active and more interested in your topic. -Know that practice makes perfect. Concentration is an activity like any other. Clearly the more we practice, the better our concentration will become. -Do work at a desk, not your bed. -Blood is the main vehicle of oxygen in our bodies. But blood gets pooled in the lower half of our bodies as a result of gravity, and doesn't push as much oxygen to the brain, where it helps improve concentration. In order to help oxygenate the brain, get up and take a walk every so often to get the blood pumping. Hypercholesterolemia: High blood cholesterol is treated with lifestyle changes and medicines. There are few risk factors: Cigarette smoking High blood pressure (140/90 mmHg or higher), or you’re on medicine to treat high blood pressure Low high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol (less than 40 mg/dL) Family history of early heart disease (heart disease in father or brother before age 55; heart disease in mother or sister before age 65) Age (men 45 years or older; women 55 years or older) Food to be avoided: -Saturated fat which is found in some meats, dairy products, chocolate, baked goods, and deep-fried and processed foods. -You also should try to limit the amount of sodium (salt) that you eat. -Try to limit drinks with alcohol. Too much alcohol will raise your blood pressure and triglyceride level. Food to be taken: -Whole-grain cereals such as oatmeal and oat bran -Fruits such as apples, bananas, oranges, pears, and prunes -Legumes such as kidney beans, lentils, chick peas, black-eyed peas, and lima beans -A diet rich in fruits and vegetables can increase important cholesterol-lowering compounds in your diet. -A healthy diet also includes some types of fish, such as salmon, tuna (canned or fresh), and mackerel. These fish are a good source of omega-3 fatty acids. These acids may help protect the heart from blood clots and inflammation and reduce the risk of heart attack. Try to have about two fish meals every week. If you’re overweight or obese, losing weight can help lower LDL cholesterol. Routine physical activity can lower LDL cholesterol and triglycerides and raise your HDL cholesterol level. Medication: Homoeopathic medicine - Cholesterinum 30/ thrice daily for 4 weeks.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. There are ways to keep your uric acid value in body to low levels. General recommendations are: - decreasing intake of red meat, alcohol, rice in your diet and other purine rich sources - also increase your water intake so that uric acid is excreted from body well. - keeping your weight to normal levels will also help you. - intake of fresh fruits, citrus fruits and cherries has been implicated in reducing uric acid values in the body as well. Nowadays there is a medication by the name of febuxostat which helps in lowering uric acid levels in body but kindly check out that it suits your body. Asthma preventer medicines have good effect on disease and it result in very few asthma attacks, hence a good control. Where as, side effects rarely occur, but can be there such as osteoporosis, high bp, cataract, skin lesions, oral ulcers etc.

My sugar lavel is 135/170 and hba1c 6.8 what can i do. Can i start alopathic medicine or ayurvedic ? please advice me.

Please specify as what is 135 and 170. If it is the fasting and post meals sugars. Then both are high. Even though the blood sugars are suggestive of diabetes, the blood sugars are not very high. So I would suggest you to take a diabetic diet and a do some light excercise like brisk walking for 30 mins and repeat sugars after 1 month. Diabetic diet is mainly a diet which avoids sugar containg foods and drinks. Reduce the rice intake. Take more of vegetables.

Dear Lybrate User, *Avoid(Unwholesome diet and habits) 1. Day sleep 2. Intake of curd, unctuous substancesetc 3. Fried and oily food 4. Dry substances 5. Awakening 6. Heavy exercise and exertions 7. Two wheeler driving 8. Improper positions 9. Potato, sweet potato, jack fruit, yellow and red gram, peanuts etc. *Increase intake of oily foods that are easily digested, sweet things, purified butter, vegetable soups, milk and almonds. *Avoid rice, refined flour, kidney beans, and other foods that cause flatulence. *Avoid physical and mental exertion. *Get a good night’s sleep. *Have regular, gentle body massage with lukewarm sesame oil. Dhanurasan and Ujjai Pranayam are highly recommended for cervical pains. *Peel two cloves of garlic and crush it. Add this to a glass of milk. Boil it on a mild flame till one-fourth glass remains. Filter and make two equal parts. Drink one part in the morning and the other in the evening.

If you have recurrent attack of headache 1.It could be a tension headache due to stress, strain,depression,agitation, Hypertension or migraine. 2.Avoid stress, physical and mental exertion, take adequate sleep for 7-8 hours daily 3.Go for regular exercise 4.Practice yoga, meditation and deep breathing exercise to calm your mind, control your emotion and relieve stress 5.Check for refractive error, sinusitis Hemoglobin, BP 6. Hello, I am giving you some health tips to avoid acidity 1.Take small frequent meal kindly take 5-6 small meal in whole day 2.Take 6-8 glass of water in a day 4. Moderate physical activity regularly 5.avoid excessive tea, coffee 6. Do Not postpone Breakfast 7. Avoid spicy food Consult physician for further management Also I am giving you some tips to prevent constipation: 1. take 6-8 glass of water in a day 2.Regular Physical activity Keeping mobile and active will greatly reduce your risk of getting constipation. Ideally do at least 150 minutes of physical activity every week. 3.You should have about 30 g of fibre a day. You can increase your fibre intake by eating more: I am giving you list of some fibre containing food fruit vegetables wholegrain rice whole wheat pasta wholemeal bread seeds oats 4.Toilet habits Never ignore the urge to go to the toilet

It is an infection on the belly button. Avoid using soap there. Do the following: Dissolve 1 teaspoon of salt in warm water and flush the belly button with it gently. Pat dry with a soft towel, or use a hair dryer on a low setting to gently dry the belly button. Soak a washcloth in warm water, wring it out completely and then hold the warm damp cloth over your belly button. This is a simple way to relieve pain. If you do have a belly button infection there are some things you should and should not do to clear up the issue. Don’t use any over the counter creams or powders that are advertised as “antiseptic.” They will only add to the general irritation of the areas. Do follow through with taking any medications your doctor prescribes to you and using any prescription ointments or creams. Don’t pick or scratch at the belly button, after you have cleaned and dried the area, cover it with cause if you need a reminder not to touch it. Don’t try to “turn it inside out.” Don’t stress the skin but flush the cavity to clean it.

You need detailed examination of nose and throat. Throat irritation can be because of post nasal drip. For nasal bolck you can use OXYSPRAY one puff in both nostrils at 5 PM followed by steam inhalation for 15 minutes for a week. Strictly stop spray usage after a week. Take Tablet ZYRCOLD half tablet in the evening at 5 PM after food for 7 days. Avoid cold foods and cold drinks. Do warm salt water gargling. Consult a nearby ENT consultant if symptoms persist.

Hello, If symptoms are sneezing, Running nose, blocked nose 1.Take proper rest/ lot of fluids 2. and Take proper home made diet. 3. Do Steam inhalation carefully by steam inhaler twice a day for 2-3 days 4. Tablet Crocin (Paracetamol 500 mg) one tablet after food when required for headache after food for 2-3 days (maximum 2 tablets with gap of 12 hour can be taken in a day) Consult Physician for further Management

Signs and symptoms of scabies include: itching, mainly at night: itching is the most common symptom. Rash: many people get the scabies rash. Sores: scratching the itchy rash can cause sores. Thick crusts on the skin: crusts form when a person develops a severe type of scabies called crusted scabies. Personal cleanliness it the way to avoid it.
