Stop ppi group amaze as it carries lots of side effects like multi organ failure, memory loss & disorientation - if taken like saunf over a period of time. You are only 22 & you can modify your eating habits. Less of oils & spices & more of seasonal fruits and vegetables but no juices as fiber acts like cotton which absorbs the acid. Get cardiac tests done, if normal, your anxiety will get relieved. Ecg, echo followed by stress test, blood for sugar & total lipids. You are overweight also. Reduce weight @ 5 kgs/month only by diet & exercise-take help from some learned person. Get an ultrasound of abdomen done to rule out stones. Get back here with reports for more guidance.

I am 68 years old man and I have problem of some projected like balloon objects formed in the anus. What is the remedy for that?

F.mas,D.mas, MS - General Surgery

Hi. Thanks for sending query in lybrate. I understand your concern. From your description the duration of the problem is not clear to me, neither you have mentioned anything about bleeding per rectum or weight loss, still I will give you most probable differentials: 1) prolapsed rectum 2) prolapsed hemorrhoids 3) a polyp or less likely a lower rectal growth kindly visit a surgeon/surgical gastroenterologist and get yourself evaluated clinically by doing per rectal examination, proctoscopy, colonoscopy and also a cect if the treating consultant feels the need for the above. If the diagnosis is haemorrhoids then open/stapler haemorrhoidectomy as per your treating consultant's advise. If it is a rectal prolapse which looks more probable repair through abdominal approach or perineal approach or laparoscopic repair as per your treating surgeon. The names of few methods are delorme's method, altemeire's method, lahaut's operation, anal encircling by steel wires or laparoscopic repair. If there is a polyp a biopsy has to be sent either colonoscopic or from ot. If biopsy shows malignant potential polypectomy with apr where the rectum, sigmoid and soome extent of descending colon will be resected and a permanent colostomy to be done. If colonoscopy shows multiple polyps then total proctocolectomy with ileoanal anastomosis to be done as polyps are premalignant. If unfortunately it turns out to be a carcinoma rectum apr has to be done. Hope the consultation was beneficial regards.

Not sure who should we consult, a skin specialist, any surgeon etc. What kind of treatment can be started. Fyi. She is breastfeeding. Thank you!

You should consult a surgeon. If it proves to be haemorrhoids, it will be medically managed. Meanwhile avoid constipation and take plenty of liquids and fibre.

Antral gastritis is an autoimmune problem that can cause a lot of discomfort to the sufferer. Often people who have this condition are not aware of the symptoms that accompany it. There are also many kinds of gastritis that are treated with medications as well as acid suppressants to deal with the root cause. Most types of gastritis cause an inflammation of the entire gastric mucosa but antral gastritis affects only one region of the stomach. For a proper antral gastritis treatment to be determined, it is essential that the doctor understands the cause of the problem. For instance, if a bacterial infection is causing the antral gastritis, the infection may be treated by the doctor with antibiotics to prevent the disease from recurring. The doctor may also prescribe antacids to bring down the symptoms till the bacteria no longer causes the inflammation. Most individuals do not realize they have antral gastritis till the severity of the condition increases. Therefore, most people take some antacids over the counter to bring down the symptoms. When they start to have dark or bloody stools, nausea, gas, and severe ingestion, they may seek treatment for the disease with a doctor. The individuals who are affected may also get diagnosed when an endoscopic procedure is done for some other health issue. One of the most important antral gastritis remedies is to develop good eating habits. Consume foods that are light and avoid high fat foods like fried foods, butter, and fatty meats as they can delay the emptying of the stomach. Increase your intake of fresh fruits and vegetables like dates, eggplant, tomatoes, and green leafy vegetables. While there is no such antral gastritis cure, it is essential that you maintain a proper diet along with the treatment suggested by the doctor.

What Is Dyspepsia? 5 Best Ways to Treat It

What Is Dyspepsia? 5 Best Ways to Treat It

Dyspepsia is an uncommon word, but a very common problem. This medical condition is more commonly known as indigestion of the stomach and small intestine. The symptoms of this condition include abdominal pain, bloating, belching, nausea and a loss of appetite. They come and go varying terms of frequency and intensity.

Some of the common causes of dyspepsia are lactose intolerance, anxiety, regurgitated stomach juices, stomach ulcers, irritable bowel syndrome and excessive caffeine or alcohol intake. In most cases dyspepsia can be easily treated with home remedies. You can also take the package for Eating Right.

Here are the 5 best ways to treat it:

  1. Lemon juice: Lemon juice cleanses the digestive system by flushing out waste material and undigested food. It also inhibits the formation of acids in the stomach and boosts appetite. Dilute the juice of 1 lemon in a glass of water to avail its benefits. You could also add half a teaspoon of fresh ginger juice to this. Ginger also aids in digestion and prevents flatulence.
  2. Buttermilk: Buttermilk has cooling properties and helps calm the stomach and intestines. It is also suitable for people who are lactose intolerant. Drink a glass of buttermilk immediately after a meal to improve your digestion. You could also flavor it with roasted cumin powder or mint. Mint also helps in relieving indigestion and prevents buildup of gases in the stomach while cumin stimulates the secretion of pancreatic enzymes.
  3. Yogurt: Yogurt is the best remedy for any stomach bug. It is rich in probiotics that help restore balance healthy gut bacteria and stabilize digestion. Yogurt can be had as an accompaniment to your meals or mixed with steamed rice to make it a meal in itself.
  4. Fenugreek: Fenugreek boosts appetite and helps relieve indigestion. This herb is known for its soothing properties that cleanse the digestive system. Fenugreek leaves can be bitter and unpalatable. Hence, to benefit from this, boil the leaves and then lightly fry them in butter before eating them.
  5. Pomegranate juice: Pomegranate juice is an excellent way to treat indigestion and diarrhea. Its antioxidant properties also make it a good remedy for heartburn. To benefit from pomegranate juice, dilute the juice of a pomegranate in a glass of water along with a tablespoon of honey.

Along with this, also take a look at your eating habits. Avoid eating on the move and chew your food properly. Eat only when you are hungry and control your portion sizes. Lastly, make the time to exercise for half an hour or so every day. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a specilized gastroenterologist and ask a free question.

Blood in stool can be due to number of causes. If you had prior constipation then it could be due to piles. Avoid constipation in that case. Take plenty of fluids, fruits and fibre rich diet. Avoid spices, fried food, junk food and non-veg. Additional fibre like isafbgole 3tsf daily with a glass of water is beneficial. In case it doesn't help please have yourself examined by a surgeon/gastroenterologist. Thanks.
