Only if mother is rh negative and father is rh positive, chances low and that too only when number of pregnancy increases. There are tests and injectios available to be used during pregnancy and after delivery.

My wife's period date was 29 Jan. 2015. But its 16-17 days gone but she is still not get ovulation. On 13 I did pregnancy test by Prega News. But result was negative. It happen first time after our marriage (which was on 28/04/2015) What should I do?

DGO, MBBS
Sexologist,
If pregnancy test is negative then chance of pregnancy is remote. You can wait for periods, otherwise to detect the cause she needs to do some blood tests and ultrasound of pelvis. After which she may need medicines if any report is abnormal.

Hi. My Last month period date 16 Jan 2016. I'm on 18th day of cycle and my follicle measures 19x19 in Left ovary. We are trying to conceive, I just came to know about luteul phase defect in this forum. My next cycle usually happens 2 days prior to previous. If I ovulate on 20th day or after then the length of luteul phase will be 10 days or lesser. Heard of vit B6 tablet for this! Please throw some light quite tensed!

First of all you need to get your FSH LH and Progesterone leves done. Since you are trying to get pregnant, the following medicines may be helpful: Clomid (clomiphene citrate),Human chorionic gonadotropin, Progesterone injections, pills, or suppositories. But all these to be taken after consulting with gynecologist and the tests done , as these are hormones, and without proper dose may harm.

I am getting periods for 18 or 21 days. Is it a problem? can I use any tablets to avoid this problem?

M. sc Psychology, BHMS
Homeopath, Hyderabad
Don't take medicines with minimum knowledge, n without consulting doctor. Its not only for the present c/o, I m suggesting u, but also in general. Moreover taking medicines for the periods sake, will harm in other way, in future you will get some more problems further. So dont try to take any medicine, unless you consult n take the specialist's opinion. If your periods are in general same in pattern, then you need not to worry. If you want to exclude any pathology, go n get checkup for tsh, hb, levels, scan for lower abdomen. For any pcod. If everything is normal, then there will be no problem at all. Then you need to take few supplements, like iron, b complex vitamin for few days, along with good, nutritious diet. Try to take til ladoo [made with til+jaggery, dry ginger}daily 1, which is rich in iron.

Does homeopathy really works? Or it is just placebo for satisfaction? Why do home doctors give different dosage forms such as sugar pills on morning and night and tablet on evening, powder on every week. Why so? I am having pcod and I am taking homoeo medicine. Sugar pills on morning and night. Tasteless tablet on evening and powder on every week. Why so? How do they work? Please clarify.

Diploma in Diet and Nutrition
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Hyderabad
1. Homeopathy is a scientific and proven system which originated in Germany. 2. Different medicines are mixed in pills or powder or tabs. Different doctors follow different approaches. The aim is the same. 3. It aims to cures problems from the root instead of temp solutions. 4. Homeopathy does not have the financial power to advertise as much as other forms of cure hence sometimes people may be skeptical about it. 5. It works .. its effective.. its economical.

I fingered my girlfriend on her 9th day of her period. Now she's getting cramps and white secretion from her vagina. I may hav touched my penis that is I may have per cum on my fingers. Is there a chance she is pregnant?

MD-Ayurveda, Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)

Hello-' No, she can't be pregnant as you did not impregnated/ ejaculated your semen inside her vagina. Fingering vagina leads to sexual stimulation of uterus which causes cramps and discharge sometimes.

You are getting weak day by day and you are not able to eat more. I advise you to take proper balanced vegetarian diet. Take fruits and vegetables in daily diet. Take 8 to 10 glasses of water daily. Avoid garlic and red chilly at home and avoid non veg and eggs always. Do meditation for mental strength. This will help in your problem. For better guidance and treatment, consult privately.

Hi She's got much pain during sex, intercourse that's pain out of control And more thing is that she's suffering from white discharge from vagina. So can you tell me please what is the cause of these. Is it possible in sex or other things. And what is treatment of these.

MBBS, MS - Obstetrics and Gynaecology, DNB (Obstetrics and Gynecology)
Gynaecologist, Bangalore
Having minimal white discharge is normal during the cycle. But if it causes pain during sex, if it associated with itching and is foul smelling these are signs of infection. It's better to get tested if she is having any infection and manage accordingly.

Today morning, during the sex my condom burst, we came to know after completion. As she don't wanna pregnancy, we are going to buy unwanted 72. Kindly suggest is there any other best and trusted solution. Also what precaution we should take before and after taking the pill.

MBBS, MD
Gynaecologist,
Unwanted-72 or i-pill are emergency contraceptive pills. The chances of failure to avoid pregnancy in a unwanted-72 pill / i-pill are about 13%. To be effective, the pill has to be taken preferably within 12 hours of the unprotected intercourse. But it must be taken within 72 hours, although if the pill is consumed later than 12 hours the failure rate in avoiding pregnancy is more. It should not be used regularly. Some minor side effects of this medicine are headache, dizziness, nausea and vomiting; sometimes changes in menstrual pattern are observed; these are temporary, unless one uses unwanted-72 quite often. If one has other existing disease of gut or liver or breast or heart, doctor? s consultation is necessary before taking this medicine. Lastly, if regular contraception is the aim, then other pills may be considered; the chances of failure of a regular contraceptive pill to avoid pregnancy are merely 0.001%. That of a copper-t is 1 to 2%. With condoms it is 3 to 6%. For these, consultation is advisable.

Had unprotected Sex, but consume iPill within 12 hrs. Periods were due on 25th of October and we had sex around 8 and took iPill and had unprotected on 21st and took iPill. She has not received her periods yet, is there any way to confirm? Pregnancy test would work or not at this time?

MBBS, MS - Obstetrics and Gynaecology, DNB (Obstetrics and Gynecology)

Please do get a urine pregnancy test done to rule out pregnancy. But this mostly looks like a delay due to I pill. Best to consult a gynecologist and take pills to get periods.

Balance Disorder: Causes And Symptoms

MBBS, MS - ENT, DNB (ENT)
ENT Specialist, Delhi
Balance Disorder: Causes And Symptoms

Balance disorders are a combination of physiological factors that can make you feel unsteady or dizzy. While sitting, standing or lying down, you may feel as if you are floating, moving, or spinning and you may feel dizzy and dazed for the time being. This disorder can intervene in your daily activities of life, and can even lead to falls and accidents, which may cause you to end up with fractures and other types of injuries.

What causes balance disorder?

A combination and coordination of many body systems such as muscles, bones, vision, the balancing organ within the ear, heart and nerves help maintain normal balance. Dysfunction of these systems can lead you to encounter balance problems. Balance disorders can be caused by many types of conditions.

Some of the causes of the disorder are:

Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV): This occurs due to dislodged or displaced calcium crystals in the inner ear, which help you maintain balance. It is the most commonly found cause of vertigo. A spinning sensation while turning in bed is a common sign.

  1. Migraines: Migraines are a general cause of dizziness. Sensitivity to motion can also be caused by migraines. It can also lead to motion sickness, which is dizziness experienced when traveling in boats, cars or airplanes.
  2. Head injury: A severe concussion can also cause vertigo.
  3. Ramsay Hunt syndrome: Commonly known as zoster otitis, this condition affects the nerves close to the ears. It can be attributed to hearing loss, vertigo and pain in the ear.
  4. Vestibular problems and nerve damage: Damaged nerves in the legs can cause difficulty in movement and locomotion. Abnormalities and dysfunctions in the inner ear can lead to a sensation of dizziness and a heavy head.

How do you know if you have balance disorder?

Some of the characteristic symptoms of this condition include:

- Blurred vision
- Nausea and vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Blood pressure
- Fatigue
- Depression and anxiety
- Psychological disorientation
- Fluctuations in blood pressure and heart rate

If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a psychologist.
