Diabetes Diet Do's And Don'ts!

Diabetes Diet Do's & Don'ts!

Most people can rely on their bodies to control blood sugar with insulin. But people with Type 2 Diabetes have to eat smart to keep blood sugar in a safe range. A healthy diet, especially one that keeps the weight off, can also help reduce the need for medications in people with type 2 diabetes.

1. Vegetables

- Do eatSpinach, tomatoes, cucumbers, broccoli, Brussels sproutscauliflower, and asparagus. They’re packed with nutrients and low in carbohydrates, which your body quickly breaks down into glucose.

- Avoid: Fried and breaded vegetables – they add extra calories, carbs, and fat.

- Cooking tip: Try roasting vegetables with a sprinkle of olive oilpepper, a pinch of salt, and a little lemon juice. It adds flavor with minimal calories.

2. Starches

- Do eat: Whole-wheat bread and pasta, brown rice, and oats. Whole-grain starches give you more vitamins, minerals, and fiber than white or refined versions. They’re also less likely to lead to rapid spikes in blood sugar.

- Avoid: White bread, chips, and pastries, which quickly increase blood sugar.

- Cooking tip: Homemade oatmeal for breakfast is a simple source of whole grain.

3. Fruits

- Do eat: Small servings of peaches, apples, oranges, berries, kiwi, and other fruits. Fruit is a low-calorie, high-fiber, nutrient-rich source of carbohydrates.

- Avoid: Jellies and fruit juices with added sugar.

- Cooking tip: Layer berries with low-fat, unsweetened yogurt to make a tasty dessert.

4. Dairy

- Do eat: Unflavored and low-fat yogurt, milk, and cheese. Low-fat dairy gives you proteincalcium, vitamins, and minerals in every serving.

- Avoid: Full-fat dairy products. They come with extra calories and saturated fat, which raises LDL or “bad” cholesterol. Remember diabetes increases your risk of heart disease.

- Cooking tip: Low-fat, plain yogurt is a healthy substitute for sour cream in many recipes.

5. Protein

- Do eat: Skinless poultry, fish, tofu, beans, and lean cuts of red meat.

- Avoid: Fatty cuts of meat and processed meat, like sausages and hot dogs.

- Cooking tip: Trim visible fat from meat and poultry and use a low-fat cooking method, such as roasting or broiling.

Premature ejaculation occurs when there is an uncontrollable ejaculation of semen with very less sexual stimulation. This can happen before sexual penetration or shortly after sexual penetration. The man experiences the orgasm very quickly before he wishes or before his partner has also been sexually satisfied. There are a variety of reasons that can be the possible cause of premature ejaculation. The most important reason here is the psychological state of mind of the man. Many issues related to sexual functioning have to do with one’s emotions. If the man is experiencing anxiety, stress, depression, grief, guilt or shame, these intense negative emotions can actually interfere with his sexual functioning. This can also be anxiety stemming from sexual repression where there is no opportunity for sexual release. There could be certain biological issues also. Research does indicate a link between premature ejaculation and certain disorders like diabetes, heart problems, STDs and inflammation of the urethra or prostate. The lack of the neurotransmitter serotonin and problems in the reflexes involved in the genital area is also linked to premature ejaculation. Factors like societal and cultural guilt can also play a role here.

May I know the symptoms of migraine. I'm suffering from continues headache since a year.

MBBS, MD Psychiatry, DNB Psychiatry
Psychiatrist, Nagpur
May I know the symptoms of migraine. I'm suffering from continues headache since a year.
Migraine is characterised by severe pulsating headache either usually on one side of the head, associated with nausea, vomiting, emotional lability etc. Relieved momentarily by rest and medications and aggravated by loud noise, exposure to sun, sleep deprivation, depression, stress etc. Migraine is a relapsing type of headache. It is usually seen in females but may occur in males too. Management of migraine includes treatment for acute headaches and then treatment for prevention of future attacks of migraine. This is decided according to the onset, type, duration, severity of headaches and also the associated symptoms like sleep problems, stress, anxiety etc.

Hello dear lybrate-user, hi Warm welcome to Lybrate.com I have evaluated your query thoroughly.* It is your own body, you can decide your organs to be removed or kept, but as an expert I will let you know the salient facts and features about orchidectomy - An expert will never advise orchidectomy without genuine reason.- With one side orchidectomy, man can continue with his hormonal secretions of testosterone and have normal sex activities with male features.- When done bilateral orchidectomy before 60 years (it is the time till there is testosterone secretion) the person looses all male characteristics from head to toe.* So think 10 times before deciding on your own. Can have further assistance of mine if you wish for this topic at private consultation at Lybrate.com Hope this clears your query. Wishing you fine recovery. Welcome for any further assistance. Regards take care.
