Dear lybrate user, my advise would be to consult a specialist either ortho/pain specialist for diagnosis, as low back pain can arise from disc, facet joints, sacroiliac joints, piriformis muscles, ql muscles etc. It is important to find out the source of problem and treat it rather than taking pain killer or doing physiotherapy without knowing the problem. Hope it will guide and help you understand your problem and you take steps accordingly. Thanks.

If you have leg pain pls check your body weight and your haemoglobin levels, as Anaemia always leads to the symptoms of being tired and also having leg pain though there may not be any pathological reasons for back pain. My suggestion would be to wear MCR Chappals which will help you to prevent the weight falling on the If you have back pain while walking and standing first of all check your weight and your haemoglobin levels, as Anaemia always leads to the symptoms of being tired and also having back pain though there may not be any pathological reasons for back pain. My suggestion would be to wear MCR Chappals which will help you to prevent the weight falling on the back. Neck pain is due to the improper posture as while sitting in front of the computer and it leads to neck pain and thereby it leads to shoulder pain. We suggest neck mobilization exercises that would reduce the stress falling on the shoulder. We also suggest patients to do shoulder mobilization exercises ie. general shoulder movements/neck movements which will help you to improve the blood circulation. Anaemia always leads to the symptoms of being tired and also having back / leg pain though there may not be any pathological reasons for back pain. Anaemia always leads to the symptoms of being tired that can also be reason to have frequent pain in the leg once the oxygen levels in the blood comes down it automatically leads to improper functioning of the joints and muscles and that also might make the hip muscles to become tired thereby straining mildly might lead to waist / hip pain

Slipped Disc Problem - Why You Can Get It?

MD, FIPP
Pain Management Specialist, Kolkata
Slipped Disc Problem - Why You Can Get It?

A slipped disc, also known as a prolapsed disc or herniated disc, is the term given to the phenomenon that occurs when a cartilaginous disc found between the vertebrae in the spine becomes slightly displaced or protrudes, thereby pressing on the nerves in the adjacent areas and causing back pain.
This happens when the soft inner part of the disc, known as nucleus pulposus, bulges out through a weakness in the exterior part of the disc. A prolapsed disc usually occurs in the lower region of the spine and can be of varying sizes. There might even be the development of inflammation around the disc in some cases.

Who is likely to get affected?
Most cases of herniated disc occur in patients between the ages of 30 and 50. The number of men affected is twice as many as the number of women.
Although the root cause of this problem is not yet known, there are a number of factors that may trigger it. These factors include working at a job that requires a lot of lifting, an occupation that involves remaining in a seated position for a long time, weight-bearing sports, obesity, smoking habits and increasing age.

Effective ways of treating the problem
The different methods that are commonly used to treat the problem are:

  • Medications - There are many different kinds of medicines that are effective in providing relief. These include painkillers, muscles relaxants, anti-inflammatory pills, etc.
  • Spinal injections - A number of spinal injections are used to treat slipped discs. The injection is done at the opening where the inflamed nerve roots are found and reduces pain, swelling and irritation in the area.
  • Radiofrequency ablation - This procedure makes use of an electrical current produced by radio waves to reduced pain and sensitivity in the affected area.
  • Ozone discectomy - As opposed to the surgical removal of the prolapsed disc, this new process makes use of an ozone-oxygen mixture that is injected into the spine to treat the problem. Many international studies have proved its superiority to traditional methods and surgeries.

Those affected by this problem are advised to keep exercising and continuing with their everyday activities as best as possible.

Hello lybrate-user as I can see from the information provided the pain is being caused due to overweight. Please work on weight loss and the knee pain would settle. Also attend a physiotherapy clinic that should be helpful for you.

I am 26 male having back pain during sleeping I have consult with few doctor but not relief yet can you suggest?

MSc in Orhopedic Physiotherapy (UK), BPTh/BPT
Physiotherapist, Bangalore
Here are some tips for how to handle your back pain: -while sleeping, try lying in a curled-up, fetal position with a pillow between your legs. If you usually sleep on your back, place a pillow or rolled towel under your knees to relieve pressure. -find a mattress with back support. A good mattress should provide support for the natural curves and alignment of the spine. Medium-firm mattresses usually provide more back pain relief than firm mattresses. -do not perform activities that involve heavy lifting or twisting of your back -avoid bending forward and sitting in a place for long time -stretching and strengthening exercises are important. -a physiotherapist can tell you when to begin stretching and strengthening exercises and how to do them.

How can I regain my fitness back within 4 weeks. Im suffering lot of problems with the lack of fitness. Could you please help me sir. Can u.

MSc in Orhopedic Physiotherapy (UK), BPTh/BPT
Physiotherapist, Bangalore
If you have not exercised for a while it is worth visiting you Doctor to get a check-up before you get into any fitness program. Start your fitness programme slowly, many people rush back into their exercise programs at exactly the same level of intensity that they where at when they last exercised –remember that muscles tighten as we get older and we need to build up our level of intensity gradually – I suggest no more than a 10% increase in time, speed or intensity each week. Stretching is very important before starting your exercises. Make sure you get good instruction on the correct technique for all of your exercises before you get serious and increase the weights. Speak to one of the Physio & Fitness gym trainers if you are at all concerned about how to do any of the exercises in your program. Best wishes.
