I am suffering with migraine frequently. What are the measures to control it. Tell me sir why migraine is starting.

MBBS, MD Psychiatry, DNB Psychiatry
Psychiatrist, Nagpur
Migraine is a relapsing disorder. It aggravates with precipitating factors. Here are few suggestions to avoid relapses - 1) Avoid direct sun exposure for long time, watching TV/ movies in dark rooms 2) Avoid fasting 3) Have adequate sleep at night. Do not change your sleep patterns often 4) Avoid stress, anxiety, excess work load Anyways, if only the recommendations are not working and you still have frequent relapses- 1) Get a treatment for acute migraine attacks 2) Start Prophylaxis treatment for preventing future migraine attacks

I am 38 Years old male and suffering from High BP (Diastolic). I have a healthy history and don't have any disease (neither heredity). Now I don't do any physical exercise but still I am physically fit and can walk 3-4 kms any time. My height is 5.10 feet and weight is 76 kg. 1 month back at the time of sleeping, I felt higher heart beat rate, numbness in my left hand and some uneasiness and I couldn't sleep. Next day I visited doctor, he found my diastolic BP (104). He also suggested some more tests (ECG and ECHO). ECG was normal and in echo test it was mentioned" Hypertensive heart disease"(Grade 1 diastolic dysfunction) and LVEF was 62% at rest. As of now I am consuming Aten (Atenolol) 25 once a day and doctor also suggested me to take Trika. 25 (Alprazolam) at the time of sleeping but I didn't consume Trika and only consuming Aten 25. I was fine after that and I stopped consuming medicine (Aten) 3-4 days back as I was feeling fine and now today I am again feeling high BP. Which medicine should I continue. Aten 25 is fine or I should continue Trika. 25 too? How can I control my BP naturally.

My father had gone through brain tumor operation in November and he still has issues of balancing while walking. So how much it takes to live his normal life again.

MCH - Neuro Surgery, MBBS
Neurosurgeon, Secunderabad
The recovery of the brain from surgery and removal of tumors depends on how your father was before the procedure. The time taken for recovery varies hugely from patient to patient. Patients need to undergo physiotherapy and gait training to improve their weakness and balance after surgery. They also need to be regularly followed up with brain scans to catch any new problems or recurrence of the tumor.

Hi diabetics often have nerve pain. First and foremost, her diabetes needs to be brought under control. Make sure that she meets her diabetologist, in person, regularly as scheduled so that her sugar levels are monitored effectively. She may require to be on vitamin b & e supplements, as deems appropriate by her diabetologist. Fomentation with warm water is likely to help. Simultaneously, being a diabetic, she needs to streamline her diet & lifestyle and relax/ de-stress herself. She must ensure consumption of whole grain cereals, fresh milk, fruits and leafy greens. Especially, cucumber, jamun, bitter gourd, onions, garlic, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, lemon etc are beneficial in diabetes. Sweets, oily, fried food stuff are to be avoided. She should take water plentily and exercise (light) for at least 30 mins daily. Remember walking is the best and safest exercise unless she has other constraints with respect to her health. Daily yogasanas, pranayams & meditation also help keep fit from all angles. Hope this helps. All the very best.

In older children or adults with dyslexia, these other signs may appear: trouble with reading, writing, and spelling. Ongoing trouble with schoolwork. Difficulty learning a foreign language. Poor handwriting. Difficulty remembering numbers. Trouble following a sequence of directions and telling left from right. The symptoms to dysgraphia are often overlooked or attributed to the student being lazy, unmotivated, not caring, or having delayed visual-motor processing. To diagnose dysgraphia, one must have more than one of the following symptoms: cramping of fingers while writing short entries odd wrist, arm, body, or paper orientations such as creating an l-shape with your arm excessive erasures mixed upper case and lower case letters inconsistent form and size of letters, or unfinished letters misuse of lines and margins inefficient speed of copying inattentiveness over details when writing frequent need of verbal cues referring heavily on vision to write poor legibility handwriting abilities that may interfere with spelling and written composition having a hard time translating ideas to writing, sometimes using the wrong words altogether may feel pain while writing.
