Hi Insomnia can be due to several causes .A detiled history which includes dietary as well as medical history, stress levels at home and work, daily exercise pattern, sunlight exposure, Vitamin D levels. Coffee /Tea intake per day are all needed to be known. Thyroid hormone levels are all needed to pin point the cause. Have sleep hygiene. Sleep at the same time .Use your bed for sleep and not as a workstation Yoga and meditation are complementary only after you treat the root cause .No need for medicines .I could fix your issue without medicines .If interested take a consult.

I am a housewife and I am having migraine problem, what should I do to prevent operation?

General Physician, Chandigarh
Migraine if diagnosed does not require any operation. To prevent an episode you should avoid chocolates and coffee specially at night. Do get your bp checked to rule out hypertension.

I am 39 years old female and frequently attacked by migraine headche. Is there any permanent solution for this?

MD - Pathology
General Physician, Amritsar
Try to find out the trigger in your case. Maintain a diary . whenever you have migraine just take a note of what all you are that day and what you did? After sometime try to find out a common factor and try avoiding that. Usually it is cheese, chocolate, fasting, poor sleep, loud music, dim light. If you have more than 2 attacks in a month or attacks are debilitating, then start preventive treatment, see a psychiatrist

What is upper and lower motor nureon and what is it's importance in body and disease related to it.

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
What is upper and lower motor nureon and what is it's importance in body and disease related to it.
Upper Motor Neurons (UMN) motoneurons that originate in the cerebral cortex (motor strip), terminating in the brainstem or spinal cord UMNs in the pyramidal tract directly synapse with LMNs UMNs in the extrapyramidal tract synapse with neurons in the red nucleus or the reticular formation UMNs that provide contralateral innervation to LMNs are on the opposite side of the brain as the muscle, UMNs that provide bilateral innervation to LMNs "talk" to muscles on both sides of the body UMNs course through the corona radiata, internal capsule, cerebral peduncle, and finally synapse in the midbrain/pons/medulla/spinal cord Lower Motor Neurons (LMN) motoneurons that originate in the brainstem (cranial nerves) or spinal cord (spinal nerves), terminating at the neuromuscular junction (muscles) all LMNs innervate ipsilateral muscles (the muscle and the LMN that innervates it are always on the same side) LMNs receive input from upper motor neurons from the opposite side of the brain (contralateral UMN innervation) or from both sides of the brain (bilateral UMN innervation) Cranial Nerves with bilateral UMN innervation: V, VII (upper face), IX, X, XI Cranial Nerves with primarily contralateral UMN innervation: VII (lower face), XII LMN Symptoms include pharyngeal muscle weakness (involved with swallowing), weak jaw and facial muscles, progressive loss of speech, and tongue muscle atrophy. Limb weakness with both lower and upper motor neuron signs is almost always evident but less prominent. UMN- Primary lateral sclerosis is a disease of the upper motor neurons, while progressive muscular atrophy affects only lower motor neurons in the spinal cord. In progressive bulbar palsy, the lowest motor neurons of the brain stem are most affected, causing slurred speech and difficulty chewing and swallowing.

Hi. Let me you about hairfall. In layman's language, hairfall can be divided into 2 types - temporary hairfall and permanent which is called 'Hairloss' rather and leads to bald areas of smooth and shiny surface. In temporary hairfall, hair grows back again from the same hair root, but in case of permanent hairloss, because of formation of DHT (Di- Hydro -Testosterone) around hair root it gets choked up which subsequently affects the blood supply to the hair and thus hair root is lost forever. Many factors are responsible formation of this DHT or hairloss- hereditary, post-illness/ ailment, post-delivery, post- chemotherapy, nutritional deficiencies, hormaonal imbalance, insufficient sleep, sudden loss of weight, stress/ tensions/ excessive anger any other underlying diseases, etc. Take diet rich in protein like non-veg., eggs, pulses, legumes, sprouts, nuts (sp. walnut and almonds), iron-rich food like green vegetables, also take flaxseeds, green tea, soyabean, fruits, salads, etc. Take proper 6-9hrs of sound sleep. Give up the habit of smooking and excessive alcohol intake. Avoid junk food and any kind of beverages (tea, coffee, aerated drinks, cold drinks, etc.) Avoid canned/ tinned food or food that contains preservatives (eat fresh ones). Avoid vigorous exercises or any supplements provided by the gym! Regular exercising is also one of the important point, but should be done under some good, qualified yoga teacher or instructor for proper guidance; it also releases the stress/ tension in the mind and the body and keeps you FIT and YOUNG!! Can't comment on Allopathic medicine you had, can be it's side-effect or can be due to deficiency! Take homoeopathic Rx - Schwabe's Wiesbaden 200/ twice a day for 1 month and revert me back. Along with that, take any one of the multivitamin - Centrum or Supradyn/ 1 tab. daily for 3mths.

Is Your Kid Troubled With Numb Limbs? Then You Must Visit A Pediatrician!

Is Your Kid Troubled With Numb Limbs? Then You Must Visit A Pediatrician!

Your child needs complete care whether it is emotional, psychological or physical. A thorough evaluation of your child’s body and mind is vital at nascent stages. Especially if you observed any complaints by your little one that may require medical help, such as:

1. Frequent headaches
Much like adults, children too can experience headaches that last from 30 minutes to 3 hours. A range of primary or secondary headaches like, migraine, meningitis, sinusitis or tension may affect children due to neurological issues.

2. Blurry vision
If you observe either a vision developmental delay or near-sightedness and farsightedness in your child, it might be related to neurological issues.

3. Slurred Speech
If your child is 7-8 months and is not responding to sounds or cannot babble non-sense words, it calls for a neurological check-up.

4. Motor and Co-ordination Delay
Sometimes babies are unable to perform motor skill activities like crawling, walking or using fingers to grip or hold, such delay requires attention of the parent.

5. Fatigue
Check if your kid has become lazy and decreased his physical activities due to fatigue and tiredness suddenly of late.

6. Abnormal Movements
Common involuntary movements or tics like eye blinking, twitching of nose, grimacing or making sounds is in some cases overlooked. Tourette syndrome is an example of such a tic, which has been evaluated as a neurological issue.

7. Tremors or Seizures
Children are prone to febrile seizures (fits) or tremors along with fever that occur between 6 months and 5 years. These are signs of neurological issues that require an immediate check-up.

8. Numbness in Limbs
Neurological complications in your child’s infancy may also cause joint pain and numbness of arms and legs.

9. Behavioural disorders
A change in behaviour or attitude in your child is noticed if he/she is suffering from attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, school problems, sleep issues, intellectual disability or other neural conditions.

10. Weakness
This symptom is tricky in children, as it may be confused with general tiredness by your human eye. It may be unheard of but many children face trouble in performing easy tasks. A neurological exam may identify the source for treatments.

An underlying problem to the nervous system can cause harm or impairment in the normal growth and development of your kid. Early diagnosis helps in correct care, recovery and prevention of long-term problems. You can opt for a routine neurological examination if you find such symptoms in your child. These exams check the functioning of your child’s brain, spinal cord, nerves that come from the brain and spinal cord and offers accurate diagnosis. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a pediatrician.

My mother is having chronic insomnia. Prescribe any essential oil which will help this sleeping problem.

My mother is having chronic insomnia. Prescribe any essential oil which will help this sleeping problem.
Hi One of the simplest and most effective ways to induce sleep is to rub some oil on the scalp and the soles of the feet before going to bed. Use sesame oil, brahmi oil, jasmine oil, or coconut oil and massage gently for a few minutes. Slightly warming the oil before applying is helpful. 1-1 drop of cow ghee in both nostrils at night time before sleep. Take sarpgandha vati 1-1 tab twice a day. Take pranacharya no tens capsule 1-1 twice a day. Avoid spicy food. Junk food. Fermented food. Tea.coffee. Do pranayama early in the morning.

Dear lybrate user, you are stressed out and you know that you are stressed out. The problem is that stress becomes more and more difficult to manage when we start accepting that particular situations and activities will bring back the stress in us. In your case it is talking with another person. So you know that when you talk to somebody you will have shivering and high heart rate and since you have already observed this thing about yourself-this has become a recurring phenomenon in your life. First of all dissociate yourself with this fact by again in again repeating this activity and situation. Don't avoid talking with people. In fact make it a habit to talk to as many people as possible. You will have initial difficulty but as and when you continue giving yourself the same situation the difficulty in managing that situation will keep on fading and one day it will completely vanish. This is the best way that you can manage and conquer your fears. Regards
