General diet tips right nutritional behavior and dietary choices are needed to achieve dietary goals. The following 15 dietary guidelines provide a broad framework for appropriate action: 1. Eat variety of foods to ensure a balanced diet. 2. Ensure provision of extra food and healthcare to pregnant and lactating women. 3. Promote exclusive breastfeeding for six months and encourage breastfeeding till two years or as long as one can. 4. Feed home based semi solid foods to the infant after six months. 5. Ensure adequate and appropriate diets for children and adolescents, both in health and sickness. 6. Eat plenty of vegetables and fruits. 7. Ensure moderate use of edible oils and animal foods and very less use of ghee/ butter/ vanaspati. 8. Avoid overeating to prevent overweight and obesity. 9. Exercise regularly and be physically active to maintain ideal body weight. 10. Restrict salt intake to minimum. 11. Ensure the use of safe and clean foods. 12. Adopt right pre-cooking processes and appropriate cooking methods. 13. Drink plenty of water and take beverages in moderation. 14. Minimize the use of processed foods rich in salt, sugar and fats. 15. Include micronutrient-rich foods in the diets of elderly people to enable them to be fit and active.

Hi. I have problem of heads since three four days, and also I am not sleeping for these days. So what can I do.
Follow these simple steps to ensure a good sleep every night and stay away from sleep disorders and other health problems associated with unhealthy sleep habits: 1) maintain a regular sleep routine go to bed at the same time. Wake up at the same time. Ideally, your schedule will remain the same (+/- 20 minutes) every night of the week. A good sleep hygiene routine promotes healthy sleep and daytime alertness. 2) avoid sleeping during the daytime. It can disturb the normal pattern. 3) avoid caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol near bedtime. While alcohol may speed the onset of sleep, it creates problems in he second half of sleep. 4) exercise can promote good sleep. Exercise should be taken in the morning or late afternoon. Yoga, can be done before bed to help. 5) have a quiet, comfortable bedroom. Set your bedroom thermostat at a comfortable temperature. Generally, a little cooler is better than a little warmer. Turn off the tv and other extraneous noise that may disrupt sleep. Background'white noise' like a fan is ok. If your pets awaken you, keep them outside the bedroom. Your bedroom should be dark. Turn off bright lights. Have a comfortable mattress. 6) avoid heavy meals close to bedtime. 7) ensure adequate exposure to natural light. 8) avoid emotionally upsetting conversations and activities before trying to go to sleep. Do not think of, or bring your problems to bed. 9) stop using all your digital devices and stop looking at digital screens be it mobile phones or televisions at least 1 hour before the time you plan to sleep. Instead try reading a fiction book near bedtime so it makes you help relaxed and de-stressed. Sleep well live healthy and live longer.

Acne / pimples occur mainly due to hormonal imbalances which causes an overproduction of oil and cells inside a skin follicle. They block the opening of the skin pore and cause the follicle under the skin to swell and become red.  There are many over the counter medications available in pharmacy but you need to use skin products which are most suitable to your skin. Avoid taking anti-acne medications without knowing your skin type.. Treatment of acne includes medicines to reduce the breakouts, use of skin products such as face wash, cleansers, moisturisers according to your skin type and a whole range of  procedures like peels, laser therapy to reduce the current outbreaks and clean the skin, extract blackheads and whiteheads and clean clogged pores. They are safe and do not harm your skin in a long run.

Hi lybrate user, don't worry PCOD is metabolic syndrome. She should be on proper diet and healthy lifestyle. She may have irregular and delayed period, excessive body hairs, acne problem but these problems can be treated. She may not conceive naturally will need assistance in the form of ovulation induction to get pregnant.

Cause of Over sleeping A) Alcohol, smoking, drugs caffeine, sleeping pills B) stress, depression, fatigue inadequate/disturbed sleep, C) obesity, lack of physical activity D) Environmental factor like room is too hot/cold, excess light, noise, uncomfortable bed E) Hypo thyroid ism, diabetes, Heart disease F) sleeping dis order like sleep Apnoea (Breathing disorder where you stop breathing periodically in the night, due to blockage of Airway), narcolepsy (day time sleep), Restless leg syndrome Treatment A) Have a proper sleep schedule-Get up and go to bed at same time everyda y (body’s natural clock –cicardian rhythm will be accordingly activated) B) Good sleeping environment (Quiet, cool, dark, comfortable bed room without noise, light), C) Avoid caffeine/alcohol/nicotine 4-6 hours before bed time, D) Avoid day time sleep, daily exercise, light reading for 15 minutes daily before going to bed E. Avoid anxiety/stress/depression/fear/boredom/lack of motivation.

Hi, Every day after having more than 8 hours of sleep I feel very weak in day time at the same time I always feel sleepy. I am having daily joint pain problems with knee and back. Kindly guide.

Please note that you need to change you bed-mattress and or you are sleeping under direct fan/ac. Hence better avoid them. Take Rhus tox 200 - twice daily for next 3 days.
