Dear Doctor, My rabbit's hair removes from his mouth side,is their any medicine ? please advise .

MVSC
Veterinarian, Hyderabad
Check what he is eating. Check for any allergic compounds in the grass while nibling. Check for the external parasites like nits or lice on the hair. Change the place for feeding and see the difference.

Please apply maggout spray on the wound. And take it to a vet. As it may require wound dressing and antibiotic injection also. After wards you can dress it at home itself and also oral medicines.

You should check for ticks infestation. Redness indicate mixed microbial infection. Wokazole is good enough for minor infection, but larger area of redness, require systemic antibiotic treatment.

5 Tips To Maintain Your Dog’s Dental Health
5 Tips to maintain your Dog’s Dental Health

It is fairly easy to keep your dog’s teeth and gums healthy provided that you regularly take care of your pet and go for frequent health check-ups. Moreover, conducting regular checks at your home will also go a long way in identifying a problem in its nascent stage.

Here are five tips to ensure that your dog’s dental health remains perfect.

1) Prevent tooth decay - If your dog frequently consumes plaque-forming food products, it can lead to subsequent build up on its teeth and ultimately lead to certain problems such as tooth loss, gingivitis and receding gums. Ensure that you clean your dog’s teeth on a daily basis in order to avoid any form of tooth decay.

2) Check your dog’s breath - Although dog breath is usually not pleasant; if your dog smells unusually foul, you should get a check-up done. Moreover, observe if this foul breath is coupled with other issues such as vomiting, excessive urinating or sudden loss of appetite.

3) Encourage your dog to play with chew toys - Chew toys assist in providing stronger teeth to your pet, while giving a perfect massage for its gums. In addition, continuous chomping helps remove soft tartar and thus keeps teeth clean. Nylon, rubber and rawhide chew toys are the safest for your dog.

4) Identify signs of oral disease - A number of oral diseases can be prevented or controlled if they are diagnosed at an early stage. Major symptoms of almost all oral diseases are loose teeth, swollen gums, foul breath, excessive drooling, tumours in the gums and cysts under the tongue.

5) Carefully examine your dog’s teeth and gums - Healthy gums of a dog are indicated by the fact that they are pink in colour and have no signs of swelling. As for the teeth, they should not have any traces of tartar. Carry out this teeth and gum examination each week by lifting your dog’s lips and observing carefully.

Veterinarian,
Do not let him sleep in wet places. Wetness/dampness attracts fungus and can cause chronic skin problems.

My one year old German shepherd is not eating food and has become very lazy. He has pain in his hind legs from quite sometime and he never lets us touch his hind legs. Today we have given him 250mg Crocin. What else can be done please . Suggest.

MVSc (Ph.D pursuing)
Veterinarian, Hyderabad
Plz check the paws of the back legs. Thr can b a boil or a wound causing pain or hip joint complications. If you do not find any wound or swelling between the paws then ill suggest you get a hip joint xray done soon instead of blindly giving crocin which may mask the intensity of the pain n diagnosis.

Teething is normal process. But you should give training to your puppy that he should not bite. You can also give him some toys or chews to play.

I have adopted a street dog and he is around 2.5 months old. He has a tendency to eat potty. I am giving 2.5ml of osteopet twice a day. Already 1 bottle is already finished. Please suggest.

Veterinarian, Bhiwadi
There could be flowing causes of eating potty, which includes 1. Poor diet 2. Worms 3 behavioral kindly get hi dewormed and improve diet. Do not leave alone try to noice the potty timing and take on walk after food and motivate to pass stool while on walk. Few options are there to alter the potty taste so that your pet start disliking the taste.

Keep dogs sleeping and sitting place clean on daily basis by washing orvwopping with phenyl or currently svsilble antiseptics thatvwe use in homes (provided space is cemented or hv tiles etc) secondly wash the beddings also thirdly just observe if the dog is allergic to some specific allergent/ smell like some food item or fragerance etc etc.

Also we had noticed that he want to have sex but after talking to so many people we are unable to get any friend for him. Would like to kindly suggest in this regards.

sexual instinct will be there in dog to the core for few months in a year as they are seasonal breeders . they can only have this period only so its better to have a playmate for him at least twice a years or else his aggression would be different as age advances

I have a German spitz puppy of 2.25 moths. What is the right age of its first bath.

MVSc (Ph.D)
Veterinarian,
There is no hard & fast rule for giving a bath, when it is dirty shabby & unclean, unpleasant and smelling give a good bath with soap & shampoo, in summer, you can give weekly also depending upon the skin condition, your puppy is 2months 25 days, no problem, at all. See that, you wrap after bath & keep worm in these days of cold, and make the skin dry,
