MY UPPER 2 TOOTH WERE REMOVED 2 YEARS BACK & PLACE IS EMPTY. WHAT IS THE BEST CURE & EXPENDITURE EXPECTED SIR?

BDS
Dentist, Bangalore
Don't keep that place empty because nearby teeth will start moving and will close the gap and you will face biting and jaw problem. U can go for dental bridge means artificial teeth unit. Its like cap only but requires support of two adjacent teeth. If u can afford implant is the best option for you that will cost you around 30k

I have pale yellow teeth. Suggest me some tip to have white teeth. I don't drink nor do I smoke.

BDS
Dentist, Bangalore
There are several causes of tooth discoloration, including: Foods/drinks. Coffee, tea, colas, wines, and certain fruits and vegetables (for example, apples and potatoes) can stain your teeth. Poor dental hygiene. Inadequate brushing and flossing.... Here is home remedy for brighter teeth--- Mix several teaspoons of baking soda with enough fresh lemon juice (or water) to make a paste. Wipe your teeth and any extra saliva off of them with a paper towel. Put a good amount of paste onto your toothbrush and apply. Leave the paste on for 1 minute, then rinse, so as to avoid the acid effecting enamel. If you are using just water you can leave it on for up to 3 minutes. for faster result you can go for TEETH BLEACHING from dentist...

My mother who is now 75 yrs, suffering from dryness of mouth, burning of tongue and also there is lot of swelling of tongue which leads to difficult to speak. Please help us.

MDS, BDS
Dentist, Vadodara
There are a few conditions that can lead to dry mouth that can further lead to burning and redness. Frequent intake of water is one way and there are salivary substitutes available that can help her keep her mouth moist. Some medications can also lead to dryness.

I am having tooth decay, even after filling the decay problem is still there what is the best solution to this.

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
We need more investigations with clinical examination to decide upon treatment. You may need cleaning, root canal treatment & capping. Until then apply clove oil on the decayed tooth. Rinse frequently with mouth wash.

I have pain in my teeth. It stop when I take medicine but again start after 15 or 16 days. It is happening about 4 month ago. Doctors said it is wisdom case ans I have to out this teeth from my mouth. There is no moreoptiontion. What should I do. It hearts a lot.

Diploma in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, MBBS
General Physician, Delhi
Wisdom tooth does take time to erupt. You try Gumtone Powder rubbing on it , it is harmless even if you swallow a bit. You can apply clove oil or eat cloves as it is , take a pain killer. Wait and watch for few more days before you take a decision.

Have a central cavity in tooth, what should be done to overcome the sensitivity and ache?

A.C.C.I - Accredited and Certified Course in Implantology, MDS - Pediatric & Preventive Dentistry, BDS
Dentist, Jammu
Dear, If the ache in the tooth is lasting more than 5 minutes, it is indicative of deep decay and one should get the tooth xrayed at the nearest Dental surgeon. If not effecting the heart of the tooth ( we call as pulp) a filling would be feasible and if the pulp is involved then a RCT may be required. The Dental Surgeon will guide you appropriately.

I have a cronic problem which i am facing since last 5years. My mouth diameter is reduced so much in that i can not even pass my single finger. In short, the space between my upper and lower teeth is reduced to the 10 mm(1cm). I have been chewing gutkha since i was 18 years old and right now i am almost 42years old. In past two years i got two big ulcers behind my molar tooth and i had done biopsy of all two ulcers. Both reports were normal. One dentist suggested me to remove ulcer by laser and i was gone through that treatment. But at present,my problem become so worse that i can not eat a thing bigger than 1 cm in diameter. One oral surgeon suggest me to do an oral flap surgery. So my question is that will it be benificial to me? Is there any other option rathere than gone through the surgery. I am afaid of such big surgery. Once i was taken to the operation theatet, but my blood pressure became lower so much and surgery could not be performed. And tell me something about flap surgery. How long will it take to complete surgery? Since how long i will have to maintain certain care taking steps of my buccal mucosa? And what is the success rate of such surgery?

I am really sorry to hear about your condition. Your condition is known "oral sub mucous fibrosis" in which fibres form in the oral submucosa & reduce the mouth opening. When it's gets severe the mouth opening keeps reducing & there is burning sensation in mouth & food pipe even when u eat mild non spicy food. This condition is pre cancerous & not cancer, so you should really get yourself treated before its too late. There are injections to cure this fibre but it's given in mild to moderate cases. In severe cases surgery is unavoidable. In surgery the fibres formed inside your cheeks & lips will be cut so that your mouth opening will improve. You might also be given those injections to dissolve the fibres & prevent them from forming again. Do not be afraid of the surgery, it's for your benefit. A normal doctor will not perform this surgery. It is done by an oral surgeon who will not give you false advice. So have faith in your surgeon & go ahead. All the best.

5 Habits That Destroy Your Smile:

Advanced Aesthetics, MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, BDS
Dentist,
5 Habits That Destroy Your Smile:
1. Not flossing
Brushing your teeth twice a day is important, but many patients don't realize that flossing at least once a day is just as critical to achieving—and maintaining—a healthy smile. Flossing removes the cavity-causing bacteria left behind from food particles that get stuck between teeth. "Although bleeding and irritation sometimes can occur when you first start flossing, it's important to keep at it," says Dr. Ghareeb. "Your gums will toughen up and your oral health will be better for it."

2. Brushing too soon after eating
Consuming acidic foods and beverages, such as sports and energy drinks, citrus fruits, wine, and tomatoes, can erode tooth enamel—the glossy outer layer of the tooth. Brushing your teeth too soon after eating and drinking these items can cause more damage because you are essentially brushing the acid into the teeth, not getting rid of it. Instead, you should rinse your mouth with water after consuming acidic foods and beverages and wait at least 30 minutes before brushing your pearly whites!

3. Not replacing your toothbrush often enough
Not only are old toothbrushes ineffective, but they also harbor harmful bacteria that can cause infections. Toothbrushes should be changed every three to four months. "It's also important to change your toothbrush after you've had a cold," says Dr. Ghareeb.

4. Excessively bleaching your teeth
Overzealous bleaching can cause your teeth to look unnaturally white and increase tooth sensitivity. Before using an at-home bleaching product, talk to your dentist. "He or she can advise you on proper use of these products as well as which type of bleaching system will provide you with the best results," says Dr. Ghareeb.

5. Using a hard-bristled toothbrush
A hard-bristled toothbrush coupled with an aggressive brushing technique can cause irreversible damage to your gums. Use a soft toothbrush and gently brush your teeth at a 45-degree angle, in a circular motion. Using a back-and-forth, sawing motion causes the gums to recede, and can expose the root of the tooth, making teeth extremely sensitive.

I am a behaving a age 21 years I am having a problem in my teeth from 2 weeks it is paining how will get relif from it? Suggest.

BDS
Dentist, Delhi
The toothache you are suffering from may be due to a variety of causes, the most common being: 1. Tooth decay 2. Tooth fracture 3. A damaged filling 4. Infected gums the most common cause is a long-standing cavity or tooth decay, which usually requires a root canal treatment (rct). The same treatment applies to a tooth fracture as well. In case of a damaged filling, there may be two possibilities: either the filling can be removed and replaced with a new one after applying a soothing base material; or if the damaged filling is placed deep near the nerves of the tooth, it may require an rct. Infected gums usually are treated with deep cleaning/scaling after which there is permanent relief from pain. I suggest that that you consult me privately on lybrate, so that I can provide more specific answers. You will be able to send across images of your aching tooth/teeth, and looking at them will help me be in a better position to solve your problem.

My teeth are not white. What are the precautions taken such that becomes in to white. Give me some suggestions.

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
Cause of discoloration – Smoking, coffee, tea, drugs, aging, staining food (wine, blueberry, etc) genetics. Kindly consult a dentist in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations with clinical examination to decide upon treatment. You may need deep cleaning along with whitening (bleaching) procedures and / or artificial enamel filling and / or capping. Advance procedures can be done with laser. Use Snowdent tooth paste for whitening until then. Apply SNOWDENT paste on the teeth. Wait for 10 to 15 min .Then brush your teeth with the same paste. Applying it overnight for better results. . DENTAL TIPS: - Visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months. HOME BLEACH FOR THE TEETH Here is home remedy for brighter teeth--- mix several teaspoons of baking soda with enough fresh lemon juice (or water) to make a paste. For faster result you can go for teeth bleaching from dentist.

Start with multivitamin capsules daily. Apply local anesthetic gel like mucopain over that area. Drink plenty of water. Avoid spicy food.

I can't eat spicy food. My mouth always burns if I do that. Is it happening because of my smoking habit?

BDS
Dentist, Ahmedabad
Yes smoking is one of the prime factor causing sub mucous fibrosis which ultimately leads to damage of soft tissues in oral cavity which results in burning sensation while having food. First and primary treatment is quitting the habit of smoking.
