Hi lybrate-user oats: is extremely high in fiber, hence one portion of oats in the morning for breakfast can keep you full and energetic throughout the day, reducing your caloric intake. Greens: like spinach, methi, broccoli etc are very low in calories and high in fiber, vitamins and minerals thereby reducing water retention and bloating from your body. Beans: like kidney beans, soya beans etc are filled with resistant fiber and proteins which help release energy slowly and keeping you full for a longer time. They also feed your muscles and help them tone up. Lean chicken and fish: are good sources of protein which increase muscle and thereby metabolic rate which helps fat burning and also adds bulk to the meals. Cucumber: is very high in water content and acts as a natural diuretic which helps to reduce water retention and bloating leading to weight loss. Brown rice: are not only high in fiber but also in energy giving b complex vitamins which leads to faster burning of calories. Almonds and walnuts: are excellent sources of vitamin and fiber. A handful of nuts as mid meal snacks can really do wonders. Papaya: an extremely low calorie fruit which contains papain- aiding in faster digestion of proteins and helping in weight loss. Oranges and lemons: are low in calories, high in fiber and vitamin c which is important in fat burning. Berries: like strawberries, raspberries etc are low calorie, high antioxidants foods. A few of them as mid meals can keep you satiated. You can also add them in breakfast cereals or yoghurt.

How can one reduce obesity in old age when one gets tired very soon by physical activity.
You can do it by keeping control over your diet. Avoid fried fatty food, eating out, junk food. Cut down on sugar intake, avoid bakery and preserved food items. Follow healthy breakfast, fresh fruits, healthy lunch and light dinner. You can follow jasmine tea as it helps in fat absorption. Have amla, alovera and wheat grass juice; 1 tsp of each mixed in a cup of water every early morning. Drink plenty of water. Do deep breathing and simple yoga like pranayam in the morning!

I want to transplant hair on my temples I am not bald but I hate my big forehead it looks big with these temples.

Advanced Aesthetics, M.Ch - Plastic Surgery, MS - General Surgery, MBBS

I want to transplant hair on my temples I am not bald but I hate my big forehead it looks big with these temples.
Hair transplant is one of the most frequently performed surgeries and we are the pioneers in central India since last 30 years. There are no side effects since they are your own hair. They are your own hair and the results are permanent with no side effects like rejection. We have to assess the Hair pattern. Some people respond to medical treatment but a fair number need surgery. The surgery is almost painless because there are enough medications to keep the pain under control We need to examine the patient to know what is wanted and what can be done and to work out how much, when, where, etc

Hello. My brother is feeling pain in his throat while eating or drinking something. He has taken cephalexin capsules (250mg. He is 17 years old so he took 2 capsules. Can he continue the same medicine? If not please suggest the suitable one. Thank you.

DORL, MBBS

Hello. My brother is feeling pain in his throat while eating or drinking something. He has taken cephalexin capsules ...
Yes you should continue withh it for at least 3 more days you should be aware thaat this is due to the lack of hydration in your nose and mouth, mucus which is protective layer in nose helps you to keep nose mucosa wet and healthy, if this get dries than bacteria gets space to enter your body, and you start getting repeatedly the cold and throat pain, do keep yourself hydrated with fresh fruits, shakes, lemon juice of honey, melon, water melon, salads, and milk products like curds lassie, cofffee hot and cold, this will help you further, keep avoiding the salt water gargling, and avoid salty and spicy food.

Does sanyasi ayurveda medicine have steroid? I have used it for 3 to 4 moths now after 6 months I am going to gym feels my body is not pumped properly. After workout my body do not feel pain. Is it due to steroids? If it is how can I recover from it?

Does sanyasi ayurveda medicine have steroid? I have used it for 3 to 4 moths now after 6 months I am going to gym fee...
You can not tell if the medicine has steroids without lab tests. But if it does not suits you, you should stop the medicine. To gain strength and muscles, follow this - Start exercising. If you’re a beginner, focus on bodyweight exercises like push up, pull up and squat.  The basic push up and chin up are invaluable exercises you can do with very little equipment. Increase their difficulty by adding reps or affixing weights to your legs. Consume a balanced diet. It's important to eat big meals to fuel muscle growth while you're training. You’ll need to eat healthy, whole foods that will nourish and restore your muscles. Consume all types of fruits, vegetables, grains, oils and dairy products. Take adequate rest. Many people take this step lightly, but it's absolutely essential when it comes to gain strength. That means you won't be able to work out as hard or lift as much as you otherwise would, not to mention you'll be more prone to injury if you're feeling sleepy. Get at least 7-8 hours of sleep per night, possibly more depending on your individual needs, during heavy workout periods. Increase protein intake. Protein proves to be the most essential nutrient when it comes down to gaining strength or building muscle. Therefore, consume all types of protein from both veg and non veg food items. Chicken breast, egg whites, fish, pulses provide you all the protein you need without containing any unnecessary fat. Focus on compound movements. Compound movements are those which engages more than one muscle group. Exercises like bench press, squat, dead lift are great examples of compound exercises to gain strength quickly. Lift heavy. If your main aim is to gain strength, you’ll need to lift heavy weights in the gym and thus, lower the repetitions of your sets. Moderate-rep sets are important when training for muscle size. However, to build strength, you're going to have to train with heavier weights, meaning you'll do fewer reps. Limit cardio to once or twice per week. Cardio exercises like running, swimming, and biking are great ways to keep your endurance good and your circulation healthy. However, they aren't the best exercises you can do if your goal is to gain strength. Weight training requires loads of energy, and if yours has already been used up by a long run or bike ride, you won't have enough left over to give weight training your best shot. Limit cardio to once or twice per week so your energy reserves are ready to expend on building strength.

I have become overweight in last few months as my weight increased from 75 to 92 kg. What should I do?

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)

I have become overweight in last few months as my weight increased from 75 to 92 kg. What should I do?
Our Daily energy requirements for proper functioning of our body is 1600-2200 K cal of Energy if we want to remain fit and healthy. But there is a misconception that weight is reduced by dieting. But weight is not reduced by only skipping our meals or prohibition from sugars but until we are not aware what are our body energy requirements ,it will be difficult to loose weight. If we restrict ourself from taking daily diet to 1100-1200 Kcalories ,and increases our workouts, only then we can think about reducing our weight and for that we must obtain proper knowledge of exact energy levels in a particular dish we are eating, only then we can achieve our target of reducing weight by means of simple mathematical calculation. Diet Plan for Weight Loss (1200 calories) Food Item Amount Calories (kcal) Protein (g) Early Morning Lukewarm water with lemon 1 cup Tea (without sugar) 1 cup 35 4 Marie biscuits 2 56 Breakfast Skimmed milk with sugar 1 glass 90 8 Brown bread upma 1 plate 205 6 OR Besan Chilla 2 290 12 Mid-Morning Fruit salad 1 small bowl 40 Lunch Veg Khichdi 1 medium bowl 202.5 9.5 Veg raita 1 small bowl 75 3.5 Mix veg salad 1 bowl 30 2 Evening Tea (without sugar) 1 cup 35 4 Wheat rusk 2 120 6 Dinner Missi roti (without oil) 2 200 6 Mix veg 1 medium bowl 95 4 Curd 1 small bowl 30 1.5 Total 1213 kcal 54.5 g Please go for following blood tests empty stomach CBC,ESR,THYROID PROFILE,URIC ACID

I am 20 years old. Am getting body pains with small works also. What should I do?
What is the severity of pain? is the pain continous or intermittent? is it pulsating? since pain is a complex phenomenon, there are many treatment options medications, therapies, and mind-body techniques. Apart from pain killers, there is evidence that certain dietary supplements and vitamins can help with certain types of pain. Fish oil is often used to reduce pain associated with swelling. A therapeutic diet complemented with few medications for pain management can also work wonders. Do reply back for medication prescriptions. Being also a general physician and registered dietitian, I prescribe both evidence based herbal as well as allopathic medicines complementing with dietary guidelines and home remedies carefully personalized for each individual patient.
