Diabetes - Treating It With Ayurveda!

Diabetes is an abnormal condition where the sugar-level in humans are higher than usual. Ayurveda can be used efficiently in treating this condition. It is diagnosed as Madhumeha in Ayurveda. Intake of oily, spicy food that are heavy on the digestion often lead to this problem.

Along with drugs and medications, Ayurveda stresses on the importance of a balanced diet and exercise. The management modules that can be categorized are:

  1. Vyaayam (Exercise)
  2. Panchakarma (Procedures for Bio-purification)
  3. Pathya (Regulation in diet)
  4. The use of therapy (Medications)

The individual’s constitution highly affects the ayurvedic treatment of prameha. Some of them are:

  1. Dietary habits
  2. Hereditary factor

Management of diabetes can be done using a variety of herbs. Some of them are:

  1. Vjaysar
  2. Eugenia jambolana (Jamun beej churna)
  3. Pterocarpus marsupium (Vijaysar churna)
  4. Ficus bengalensis (Nyagrodha twaka churna – banyan tree bark)
  5. Shilajeet
  6. Momordica chirantia Karvellaka (Karella – Bitter Gourd)
  7. Kirat tikata (Chirayata)
  8. Emblica officinalis (Amla)

How To Treat Diabetes By Ayurveda?

When the sugar concentration in the blood increases suddenly and unreasonably, the resulting condition is known as diabetes. Sugar or glucose is generally used in order to provide much needed energy to our bodies. But when the pancreas dysfunctions, it leads to a problem in the insulin production. As a result, glucose or sugar gets directly absorbed into the blood, instead of getting absorbed by insulin. And this leads to the condition of diabetes.

Diabetes Treatment in Ayurveda
For Ayurvedic treatment of diabetes, the first step is usually dietary planning and lifestyle change. Adopting a more active lifestyle, and a healthy, balanced diet low on sugars and starches, is a must. You must begin by avoiding sugars in all forms. This means you will have to get rid of rice, potatoes, white bread, sugar coated cereals, bananas, colocasia and much more. Add a lot of green leafy vegetables to your diet to improve your nutritional status and metabolism. In addition to these, also add some herbs to your diet. Ayurvedic herbs that act as natural medicine for diabetes include turmeric, bitter gourd, gurmar leaves, bael, fenugreek and many more.

Apart from diabetes Ayurvedic treatment, you could also practice yoga, which can help you improve your health. Several yogic asanas help massage your internal organs so that they are healthier and can function much better. Some of the asanas are especially beneficial for the pancreas, which produces insulin. You may have to make some changes to your lifestyle as well. For starters, you will have to maintain a more active lifestyle. You will also have to avoid sleeping in the daytime. Avoid smoking and consuming alcohol and take extra care of your feet.

As an ancient science based on lifestyle related treatment methods that include herbs, massages and life changing tweaks, Ayurveda also provides various methods of managing this ailment. Here's how!

  1. Bitter Gourd: Known as an ingredient that is rich in antioxidants, this can be consumed to take care of diabetes. You will need to first remove the peel of at least four to five bitter gourds before crushing them to create a paste. This paste has to be put through a sieve so that the juice of the gourds can be extracted. You will then have to drink this juice every morning, on an empty stomach.
  2. Cinnamon: From treating coughs and colds to diabetes and other serious ailments, this is a wonder spice that can be found in most Indian kitchens. You can start by boiling a litre of water and letting it simmer on the gas for about twenty minutes. Thereafter, you can add three teaspoons of cinnamon powder to this simmering water. Strain this mixture and drink the entire batch every day to clear out the toxins.
  3. Fenugreek Seeds: For this, you will need to take about four to five tablespoons of fenugreek seeds. These will have to be soaked in a glass of water or about 250ml of water, overnight. In the morning, the softened seeds will need to be crushed before the mixture is strained. The water that escapes should be collected and ingested every day for a period of two months.
  4. Turmeric: Turmeric is a powerful and well-known ingredient that is used for curing and managing many ailments. You will need to mix about half a teaspoon of turmeric powder with one teaspoon of amla powder as well as half a tablespoon of methi seeds or fenugreek seeds powder. This concoction will have to mixed in half a glass of water and taken daily on an empty stomach. This can be used by patients suffering from heart ailments as well.
  5. Diet: Cereals like ragi, corn, kulit, green millet, and barley are known to beneficial for patients suffering from diabetes. Leafy greens are also a must for such patients along with protein-rich foods like soya beans.

I had sex for the 1st time using a plastic bag as protection. He ejaculation outside me and he has te packet on the full time so if precum was there it must hv been caught inside the bag. Yet I was scared so I tool 2 unwanted 72 one 10 mins before and one after 22 hours of the intercourse. Then again I hv pcos so my ovulation is irregular. I had bleeding on 11th of the month and intercourse on 20th. Please tell me that I will not get pregnant still after all these as I am very scared. I am 19 years old.

Hi, firstly, plastic bag is not a contraceptive method. Please do not harm yourself with such measures. Coming to the point of conception, if your last menstual period was on 11th, the 20th would be your 10th day of your cycle. Ovulation generally happens around 14th day. With the history of pcos and hormonal irregularities, taking such tablets are also not recommended. Take care, Take proper precautions before intercourse, because becoming pregnant is not the only thing you should be worrying about, as ther are a number of STD s that you can catch.

Hi! It would have been helpful if you could let me know how many kg you are required to lose. Losing weight can not happen overnight, nor can it happen with just one form of exercise. It requires a correction of the metabolism, healthy diet and an active lifestyle. So I would suggest you to try other exercises as well with the skipping. Hi lybrate-user! by application of face packs regularly, your acne and scars will heal. Use chandan paste for face pack. Make sure you wash your face atleast 4-5 times a day and scrub atleast 2 times a week. You can use besan powder for washing your face. And make sure you include lots of water and fibrous foods in your diet and avoid getting constipated.

Hi, a face pack of curds, tomato are effective to remove tan. You can also rub the tanned area with potato slices for an effective de-tanning.

Hi, in order to avoid acne wash your face atleast 3 times a day. Use aloevera and neem face wash or raktachandan soap. Use blood purifiers like lalima. Avoid oily spicy food. Eat vegetarian food for a month.

Hi, improve your diet, drink lots of water, avoid oily spicy food and wash your face atleast 4 times in a day, scrub twice a week, and use as face packs curds and tomato. These should be of help.

Hi lybrate-user! hair fall is usually due to various reasons. Mostly being iron deficiency or vit d3 deficiency. I would recommend you to first get your blood checked for the above. Changing shampoos will not work. Apply specific hair oil. Use a herbal shampoo. Make necessary changes in your diet. For more details please consult.
