My dad has been hospitalized since 16 Feb 2018 and has been in ICU since Feb 21. The initial complain was blood in urine which was completely resolved by Mar 1. There were 3 cystoscopy procedures done and last one was successful in removing all blood clots from bladder. By 8th Mar the catheter was removed and dad had started eating semi solid foods as well. Suddenly, on 9th Mar - the BP went low, he was breathing heavily and doctors found a lot of fluid in the body and chest. They removed it by tapping on Mar 10th. Doctors suspected infection and gave heavy doses of antibiotics since then. Did all sorts of culture tests and bacteria tests which were all reported NEGATIVE – and antibiotics were stopped on late night 21st March. There is still fluid retention seen in body and doctors are unable to figure out the cause. The concerned areas (other than fluid retention) as of today are – Platelets are low, bleeding near mouth/lips and bedsores, Loose motions since a week, Creatinine values fluctuating between 2.3 to 3.5, Less consciousness, Ammonia is high, Albumin in blood is low. Any help, advice, recommendation on what could be the possible causes for fluid retention would be super grateful.

If there is no evidence of LVH in heart than fluid retention can be due to damaged glomerulus in kidney or due to improper circulation or due to iron deficiency and Tips- as of now intravenous fluids should be reduced and to give food and water through Ryles tube and plan for symptomatic treatment and hope for the best

Dear friend, A new onset severe headache should be handled very seriously especially if did not have intermittent headaches before. So please attend your doctor at the earliest opportunity, who can alleviate your symptoms (which may be due to benign reasons also) and make a proper diagnosis. Please make sure you note further details like quality of headache (throbbing/dull aching/nagging/ current like /band like sensation etc ), distribution /location of the pain, any aggravating or relieving factors and any associated symptoms. Wish you all the best!

Hi drink some bitter gourd juice on an empty stomach each morning. First remove the seeds of two to three bitter gourds and use a juicer to extract the juice. Add some water and then drink it. Follow this treatment daily in the morning for at least two months. Take pranacharya diabeto and shilajeet capsule twice a day with water. Take vasant kusumakar ras twice a day. Avoid sweets. Take small meals in less time interval. Do pranayama early morning. Avoid alcohol consumption.

Hi doctors. How many grams of sugar and carbohydrate can a pridibatic person can eat in a day. Is honey good and safe for pridibatic person? please suggest. Thanx.

Hi doctors. How many grams of sugar and carbohydrate can a pridibatic person can eat in a day. Is honey good and safe...
Mr. lybrate-user, It is difficult to answer about how many grams of sugar and carbs to be eaten. Basically if one is in a pre-diabetes state, then over all caloric intake has to be restricted to meet the exact requirement based on - Ideal body weight X 25 calories per kg / day. In your case IBW should be around 60 kgs. So 60 X 25 cal /Kg = 1500 calories, that means your total dietary intake should be 1500 cals per day. It best to avoid sugar or jaggery or sweets in total. Honey is also similar to sugar, there is hardly any difference. It is supposed to give some additional anti-oxidents. But only a small quantity should be used. Complex carbs like whole grain products are best. Do not use maida, pasta, bakery items, junk foods, sugary aerated drinks, pastries etc. Avoid deep fried foods and fructose corn syrup containing products and highly processed packaged products. Consume more of green leafy vegetables and salads and fruits. Daily exercise of at least 1 hour is necessary. Thanks.

For reducing masturbation: Explore and make a list of time when you usually masturbate including factors which lead to it. - avoid same factors at that particular time, e.g. If you masturbate when you are lonely, then try to be with people all the time. - divert your mind from thoughts of masturbation: sit back, relax, drink a glass of water, try counting backwards from 50 to 1. - if you are used to masturbate watching porn, thn block porn in internet connection and delete all the files you have. - do other activities like swimming, walking, any outdoor sports or going out with friends - if you masturbate in shower, take a quick cold shower and get out early. - If you masturbate while sleeping, for some days sleep in the same room with family members or friend. - start exercising hard while you have excess thoughts of masturbation. This is how you will lose energy, feel tired and would go to sleep without masturbation. Urges generally last not more than half hour, you have to divert your mind in this half an hour.
