This could be due to oa knee &/or obesity. Physiotherapy along with medicines will help. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with a soft bedding on it. Any way take bio d3 max 1tab odx10days ibuprofen 200mg od & sos x 5days do knee exercises. It may have to be further investigated make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take.

What does it mean that cow milk is not good for health. It does not increase the calcium. Please describe clearly.
Milk is good source of calcium either it is cow milk or buffalo milk. Cow milk has lower amount of fat and cholesterol compare to buffalo milk buf if you drink skimmed milk then there is no difference but cow milk has almost double amount of sodium compare to buffalo milk so if person suffering from cardiac disease buffalo skimmed milk is good option.

1. Have small frequent meals at 2-3 hrs interval instead of 3-4 large ones only 2. Eat fast & in bigger utensils 3. Include nutrient & calorie dense foods low in volume like paneer paratha with chutney, dates almonds milkshake, peanut chikki, til ladoo, cow's milk with skim milk powder, premix with soup, egg curry + rice with ghee, cheese-potato sandwich, wheat malt with milk & sugar, fresh fruit juice, sugarcane juice. 4. Drink 3 litres water daily (but not with or just before a meal) 5. Take 15 mins light walk prior to main meals to enhance appetite 6. Have regular sound sleep 7. Get a thyroid function test done.

Hey, thanks for the query. Firstly understand that weight gain is very dependent on genetics and metabolism. It is important to know that just eating just two heavy meals a day will not help. Eating the right foods at the right time is very important. It is possible you are not eating the right foods when needed by body. Eat meals at frequent intervals. Eat a mid meal between each main meal. Avoid junk foods. Include dairy, eggs, nuts, fruits in your meals. Avoid alcohol and smoking. Exercise at least thrice a week. Even if you were to take medicines or supplements they will not work in isolation you need to have a calorie and nutrient dense meal.

The gift of Mexicans to the world, papaya or papita is a native of central America. Christopher Columbus nicknamed it as 'fruit of the angel' owing to its heavenly taste and out of the world aroma.

Papaya is loaded with several nutrients such as vitamin a, e, c and folic acid which make it beneficial for our health. It is easily available in the market throughout the year. Here are some of the health benefits that the fruit has to offer:

1. Lowers cholesterol

Papaya is rich in vitamin c, which prevents the accumulation of cholesterol in arteries. Vitamin c is an excellent reducing agent, therefore, blocks the oxidation of cholesterol. The oxidation leads to cholesterol deposition in arteries. High cholesterol is linked to higher risks of heart attack. Eat a combination of papaya and oatmeal in the morning for a healthy breakfast.

2. Improves digestion

The fruit contains an enzyme called papain, which facilitates protein breakdown in the stomach allowing proper absorption of nutrients. Eating papaya after a meal will keep your tummy fit and fine as it prevents bloating and indigestion.

To lose the extra kilos, the digestive system must function properly and this is where papaya proves to be beneficial. As stated above the digestive properties of the fruit makes it an excellent fat burner. You can have papaya smoothie for your breakfast. Just mix mashed papaya with milk and drink. This attribute of papaya might have forced Columbus to name it as the fruit of the angel. Eating half a papaya daily delays the aging process. Mash half a papaya and mix it with 4 spoons of honey to make a paste. Now apply this on your face and neck and leave it for 15-20 minutes. Finally, rinse it with cold water.

Since it is rich in vitamin c, it is an excellent immunity booster. A medium sized papaya contains more than 100% of the daily requirement of vitamin c. So, it's a must have fruit for those suffering from fever or flu.

Papaya being rich in carotenoids, the fruit is excellent eye insurance. Carotenoids, help against age-related eye disease such as macular degeneration- a condition that causes blindness. Try to eat at least 3 or more servings of papaya to reap maximum benefits.

Hello lybrate user, get her x-ray of the knee joint in standing weight bearing position in anteroposterior and lateral projections. Mostly it is has osteoarthritis of the knee joint wherein the articular cartilage of the joint gets progressively degenerative. Common in old age and indian population use knee caps regular exercise hot water bag some natural medicines x-ray and her level of discomfort will dictate the management plan. God bless you.

Hi, do quadriceps muscle strengthing exercise and hamstring stretching, if possible do cycling and squats it helps you in muscle strengthing, so learn all exercise from your physiotherapist and continue those exercise for 3 month, you will be fine.

Hi, your mother is over weight by 5 kg. She should follow the under noted tips. Go for a brisk walk in d morning. Go for meditation to nourish your cells and tissues including knee joins. Your wt. And knee problem-------Many people do desk job and this alone is not the reason for excess wt. Losing weight suddenly will only cause increase in wt later. You have to make effort to lose wt gradually over a period of time. This reduction will be more permanent. *Take protein rich food --- seeds, pulses, nuts, Also fruits, vegetables, greens and reduce cereals. *Green tea is also good. *Take lemon juice and honey in warm water in the early morning, empty stomach. *Avoid sweets, cakes, creams, fried foods, processed food and junk food. * Maintain food timings * Don’t miss breakfast. *Avoid heavy dinners and late night meals. *Avoid stimulants, aerated drinks sweetish juices, etc. And maintain good food habits. * Drink lots of water and keep hydrated. Avoid sugary soft drinks * Have adequate, timely, good night sleep *Even with desk job, you can spend morning and evening time for work out *Have vigorous physical exercise to improve absorption and blood circulation. Can Walking While Eating Can Lead to Weight Gain?

Some new studies have shown that eating while you are walking can cause weight gain. The findings have said that while walking you tend to consume more food than when you are stagnant. However, not only walking but also while conversing with others or watching television increases your urge to consume more food.

The reasons for which you may consume more food while walking are:

  1. If you sometimes eat on the go then you can consume more food later in the day. Because while eating we did not concentrate how much of amount we consumed.
  2. One more reason of consuming much food can be that walking is one powerful distraction. As you do not completely concentrate on your food it falls into mindless eating.
  3. Concentrating on your food is a significant part of enjoying your food and managing weight gain.
  4. When you sit down and eat, you tend to focus on how much food you are taking in one bite, and chew properly. Nevertheless, when walking and eating none of these happens.
  5. When you walk and eat, you do not pay attention to what you are eating. While on the go you just grab whatever food satiates your hunger and this leads to weight gain later.

There are also some simple steps to avoid over eating. They are:

  1. Sit on a table and eat slowly.
  2. Chew your food properly.
  3. You should stop eating when you first start feeling that you are full.
  4. Try to eat as many vegetables as you can and try to avoid junk foods.

Weight gain and obesity is also associated with our mind. When we start consuming food, our brain takes at least 20 minutes to connect to our stomach. So, eating slowly is a much needed for avoiding weight gain.
