Dear lybrateuser, - You can add sugar anyway, when you add it after making the tea mix it well - limit your sugar intake to 1-2 teaspoons a day as extra sugar adds to empty calories & raises the blood sugar level.

Mr. Lybrate-user, if you have a big cut on the sole of the foot, first thing is to control blood sugar strictly, with fasting around 100 mg and pp 150 to 160 mg and hba1c%<7. Otherwise healing may be affected. Then use some systemic antibiotic to control or prevent any infection, then do proper dressing by using antiseptic ointment.

I am 45 year old and my uric acid 8. 52. What should I eat and not eat and what precaution I should take.

Dietitian/Nutritionist, Mumbai
There are many lifestyle and dietary guidelines that can be followed to protect against future flares or prevent gout or uric acid problems from occurring in the first instance: Maintain a high fluid intake (2-4 liters a day) Avoid alcohol Maintain a healthy body weight Eat a balanced diet Limit fish, meat and poultry intake. If attempting to lose weight, avoid low-carbohydrate diets. If carbohydrate intake is insufficient, the body is unable to burn its own fat properly, releasing substances called ketones into the bloodstream. This results in a condition called ketosis that can increase the level of uric acid in the blood. It is most important to avoid foods that are high in purines, to ensure that the levels of uric acid in the blood do not get too high. Here is a list of high-purine foods to be wary of: Beef kidneys Brains Dried beans and peas Liver Mackerel Mushrooms Lose some weight by walking or other exercise, avoid meats and get always be on a prescribed diet as prescribed by a registered dietitian. I am a registered dietitian, certified diabetes educator and a doctor, consult privately for detailed treatment plans using diet and medications.

Frequent urination at night doesnt mean your kidney is harmed. Frequent urine at night can be due to uncontrolled diabetes or can sinply be cause you are drinking more water in evening. Reduce water inatke after 7pm. Avoid colas or tea or coffee in evening. Check your diabetes

Hi, raising the hemoglobin from 7.5 g/100ml to normal is a bit difficult. Many a time packed cells may have to be given, otherwise start on hematinics daily and those to be taken for over 8 plus months. Plus he should increase the intake of green leafy vegetables daily.

Cupping therapy in High blood pressure

MD (U), Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery (B.U.M.S)
Unani Specialist, Delhi
Cupping therapy in High blood pressure
Hypertension is very common, that needs a lifelong management once diagnosed. All adults should know their blood pressure; regular monitoring can reduce the risk of having heart disease, stroke, kidney failure and blood vessel problems. Though anti-hypertensive medications and lifestyle changes are effective to bring down the blood pressure, some natural remedies help control the blood pressure more efficiently.
Cupping is an ancient treatment remedy that has been used for many centuries in many parts of the world for high blood pressure (hypertension) treatment. In the middle east, wet cupping" hijama" is still a popular treatment. Wet cupping is the process of using a vacuum at different points on the body in order to gather the blood in that area. Then apply few superficial incisions (small, light scratches using a razor) on those areas, followed by repeating the vacuum on the same areas in order to remove'harmful' blood which lies just beneath the surface of the skin.

Mr. Lybrate-user, are you asking about what your friend should do, after having diagnosed of having hypothyroidism or the precautions to be taken by some one who has no such problem. Because once hypothyroidism develops, only option is to take regular treatment with thyroxine tablets for lifetime. Plus avoid soy beans, soy containing products, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, radish, peanuts, mustard and coffee. Consume more of green leafy vegetables, salads and fruits. Use whole grain flour for making roti and chapati, exercise regularly to avoid weight gain.

How brain gets effected due to hypoglycaemia? Is there any test to detect insulin overdose as cause of hypoglycaemia? Is the effect to brain fatal? Please tell.

Diploma in Diabetology, P.G. Diploma in Health Science (Diabetology), Certificate Course in Evidence based Diabetes Management -, MBBS
Endocrinologist, Thane
How brain gets effected due to hypoglycaemia? Is there any test to detect insulin overdose as cause of hypoglycaemia?...
Dear lybrate-user, low sugar or hypoglycemia is defined as blood sugar less than 72 mg% it is mainly diagnosed based on symptoms of low sugar. Brain use glucose only as it's food so when sugar goes low brain definitely feels hurt! palpitation, shakiness of hands, sweating and giddiness or sleepiness followed by coma or unconsciousness is a sequence of symptoms seen with progressive low sugar. We routinely never ask for serum insulin levels to diagnose hypoglycemia. Hope this helps you.
