Quit Tobacco, Welcome life
Tobacco in any form is harmful for our teeth, gums, heart, or in short for our whole body. One should try to quit tobacco by reducing the quantity and frequency of tobacco consumption. Keep yourself busy, avoid meeting people with habit of tobacco. Drink plenty of water. Avoid soft drinks. And start feeling good with slowly leaving tobacco. Few medicines and chewing gums also help in this if you want to stop habit at one go.

I have frequent mouth (tongue and throat) ulcers and it gets very painful while eating food. Please specify any medication and home remedy.

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
If the mouth ulcer is causing a lot of pain, gently rub a small ice cube over the spot or rinse your mouth with ice-cold water. You could also chew on a clove bud (lavang) and direct the juice generated to the area where the ulcer is located. Clove buds are a great ingredient to cure sore throat too. To prevent the ulcerated area from getting infected, make it a point to rinse your mouth with a little salt water. Remember, this won’t make the ulcer disappear, but it can help reduce the pain. Honey is a natural humectant. It helps reduce scarring and hastens the process of new tissue growth. This, along with its anti-microbial effect ensures faster healing of the mouth ulcer. Chew a few leaves of tulsi along with some water about three to four times every day. This will help in getting rid of ulcers faster and also have a preventive action against their recurrence. Applying a little coconut oil directly onto the mouth ulcer or chewing some coconut (fresh or dry) helps reduce pain and inflammation and hence, ulcers heal faster. Mix some sugar to crushed khus-khus seeds and consume this mixture for instant relief from ulcers. You could apply a little ghee directly to the ulcerated area, or drink a glass of buttermilk two or three times every day. Mouth ulcers left untreated generally go away in a week or so; with these home remedies, you can expect faster relief. However, if you notice an ulcer in the mouth that is persistently present although it does not cause you any pain, do not neglect it or try to treat it with home remedies beyond a few days. Make it a point to see a doctor soon because often, a painless mouth ulcer is one of the earliest signs of oral cancer.

More than paste its the way of brushing, frequency of brushing, dietary habits which is responsible for tooth decay or cavities. There are several causes of tooth discoloration, including: foods/drinks. Coffee, tea, colas, wines, and certain fruits and vegetables (for example, apples and potatoes) can stain your teeth. Poor dental hygiene. Inadequate brushing and flossing. Here is home remedy for brighter teeth--- mix several teaspoons of baking soda with enough fresh lemon juice (or water) to make a paste. Wipe your teeth and any extra saliva off of them with a paper towel. Put a good amount of paste onto your toothbrush and apply. Leave the paste on for 1 minute, then rinse, so as to avoid the acid effecting enamel. If you are using just water you can leave it on for up to 3 minutes. For faster result you can go for teeth bleaching from dentist.

There is nothing much we can prescribe without seeing the patient, actually apply Metrogyl DG gel on the gums 2-3 times daily after meals for few days. Finally get deep scaling done from a dentist to get rid of the swollen gums.

Bleeding gums: Bleeding gums are the first sign of gum disease. Gums and bone are the basic foundation for your teeth. So if any of these are having problems means ur support for the teeth is compromised. Routine cleaning proceedure would solve this problem or maybe other modalities of treatment would be nessesary depending on the progress of your gum disease. Please visit your dentist for accurate diagnosis and also to know the stage of your gum disease and for the treatment . Usually the individuals with bleeding gums will not have pain and this stage of the disease gets ignored, which by itself makes it progress towards the higher stage making your treatment more complicated. Please do not self prescribe any medicines. Take it as an emergency and visit your dentist. I hope I clarified your doubt If any more clarifications are needed don't hesitate to contact me. MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery

Kindly consult a dentist in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations to decide upon treatment. You may need cleaning and artificial enamel filling or root canal treatment. Advance procedures can be done with laser. You may consult me in person. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush.

Is there any danger undergoing Root canal in the long run.I heard like my teeth will be dead and there is chance of anaerobic bacteria formation in that area.

BDS
Dentist, Delhi
Hi .Getting a RCT is completely safe.In this procedure we clean the nerve of the tooth.Enlarge it with our instruments so that the medicines we put in can completely clean it and make it bacteria free. This procedure is done to remove bacteria both aerobic and anaerobic from the root canal that are causing infection and causing the pain.We live with a lot of bacteria. They are in air,on land,on our skin,in our mouth. So there is nothing to worry about. We live with them mutually.
