Please read my health tip on Healthy eating in pregnancy. A diet well balanced in proteins and vitamins/minerals- like milk, egg, dal, fruits and green vegetables and if non-veg then fish and chicken is good. Also take enough carbohydrates like cereals, chapatti, brown bread and moderate rice

Take all precautions to avoid all things that you are allergic to. Frequent sickness can break your rhythm of studying. Start your day with making a list of things you want to study in the day. Give yourself specific targets- eg - I have to study ---- topic, from-----chapter and after that attempt----questions from that topic. Once you have finished this, then move on to the next thing on the list. Have lots of water and physical exercise to keep your energy level high. Give yourself positive affirmations that you can do it and there is no reason why you shouldn't be able to focus.

Watching TV And Using Laptop - How It Impacts Your Health?

MBBS, MD
General Physician, Gurgaon
Watching TV And Using Laptop - How It Impacts Your Health?

We've probably heard about it, read it and even watched it a few times - devices like TV and laptop take a toll on our health. But are the studies backed with statistics applicable to us? What duration crosses the limit between acceptable and dangerous. Given that both these devices are entwined in our lives not only to entertain, but also make our lives easy, how much can you really avoid them? The reality is that you can't. So here is a quick look at what impacts you the most and how you can manage it best.

1. Increased eye irritability: We are quite used to multi-screen viewing these days. We work on our laptops or iPads while we watch TV at home. While this may seem like a skilled process in multi-brain functionality, but it is subjecting our eyes continuously to artificial light, making us blink less often. Often extending to over 12 hours a day, a mix or laptop and TV viewing can cause dry eyes, irritability, and reduced vision problems.

2. Increased obesity: Having access to everything from groceries to jewelry online makes it unnecessary to move out of the house on a Sunday. This is a boon and a bane in its own right. Easy access means spending lesser time standing in supermarket queues but more time in front of the TV. This can lead to lethargy and obesity. This risk is very real in children and we are battling with an entire generation on the brink of obesity and related problems. Did you know that childhood obesity risk increases by 60% when kids watch one hour of TV! Don't even try the math for a year's worth of television!

3. Increased affinity for junk food: TV has more side effects than you think. It automatically makes us reach out for the most harmful foods that taste great but hardly have any nutritional value. From chips to pizzas to burgers to quick fix noodles some with extra cheese others with a copious quantity of salts slowly add harmful toxins to the body. The worst part is that we are so lost in our work or TV that we don't realize the quantity we are chewing down.

4. It affects your sleep cycle: Having these handy late in the night also confuses our body with artificial light, throwing our sleep cycle off balance.

5. The one-off cases are real for some people: We often hear horror stories about some 12 years old whose thighs burned up because of excessive laptop use. There are other stories about a man who came home after a workout and accidently touched his laptop's power cord to be electrocuted. There are other stories linking these gadgets to cancer risks. These stories may be played up by the media for viral effect but the fact remains that you never know when you can be that 'somebody'. If you wish to discuss any specific problem, you can consult a general physician.

Thanks for the query. I have gone through the details given. Your overall information is very general. There is no mention of actual readings of any of the parameters, like blood glucose (fasting, PP & HbA1c%), BP readings and pulse rate. Without those details it is difficult to comment. If she has any symptoms related heart other than irregular beats, better to get an ECG as well as an echo cardiogram done. You have mentioned diabetes is in control, but no details are there. It essential to maintain FBG<100 mg. PP 160 to 170 mg & HbA1c%<7. Thanks.

Sexual stamina can be developed, means to tolerate sexual stimulation and not getting climax. It can be achived by learning your threshold. Hence in this regard we advice masturbation therapy which includes stimulating your self by masturbation by applying some lubcricant to penis and slowly stroking/ massaging penis till you reach near climax and then stop. In this way repeat 3 cycles. We make you learn where to stop, and you develop better stamina. If satisfied ok, otherwise inform

Puffiness beneath the eyelids has various causes associated with it. (1) age related distribution of fat. With progressive time and age there occurs a re-distribution of a lot of body fat. This may lead to puffiness/ sagging/ bagginess of the lower eyelids. (2) excessive alcohol consumption has at times seen to be associated with puffiness of eyelids. (3) hypersensitivity/ allergy of the eyes may cause puffiness. It may be caused due to dust, pollen, insect bite, etc. (4) thyroid level fluctuation has at times been seen to be associated with puffiness of eyelids. (5) excessive obesity has been shown to be associated with puffiness of eyelids. (6) extreme condition such as orbital cellulitis: very rare. Also, it is usually associated with eye injury, surgery, systemic infection, etc. It is very less likely to be so in your case. (7) grave's disease: this has a tendency to be associated with thyroid disease (or other autoimmune conditions). It s also rare. It is associated with fatigue and weakness that progresses throughout the day. Thus, it would be a good idea to identify in the category that you come into and then tackle the situation. The reason for this being that each cause would have a different pattern of treatment. Let me know if I can be of further help. Hope my suggestions helped you. Take care.

I have fever over four days how to solve it? and I have head ache many times please prescribe me some medicine.

AUTLS, CCEDM, MD - Internal Medicine, MBBS
General Physician, Faridabad
I have fever over four days how to solve it? and I have head ache many times please prescribe me some medicine.
Fever is not considered medically significant until body temperature is above 100.4 F (38 C). Fever serves as body's natural defences against bacteria and viruses which cannot live at higher temperatures. Also, the body's defence mechanisms seem to work more efficiently at a higher temperature -Fevers of 104 F (40 C) or higher may be dangerous and demand immediate treatments like: -Acetaminophen (dolo-650 mg) twice or thrice can be used to lower a fever . Aspirin should not be used for fever in children/ adolescents or during a viral illness. -Wear loose fitting clothes and don’t overdress. Overdressing can cause temperature to rise further. -Tepid water (85 F [30 C]) baths may help bring down a fever -The body should be cooled with a wet sponge. -A fever can cause severe dehydration. Drink plenty of fluids.. Have citrus fruits, particularly Vitamin C rich ones like mausami, Amla juice etc. -Take light and easily digestible home cooked meals like sprouts.avoid outside food -Wash hands frequently with soap and water especially after returning from public places or public transport. -Further therapy depends on the cause of fever like urinary infection/typhoid or malaria/dengue infection and the accompanying symptoms that need to be investigated and treated accordingly

If you feel stuck due to personal issue which you are unable to resolve for whatever reason. It is normal to feel varied intense emotions like sadness anger frustration irritation and even sense of hopelessness. You may try following things to help yourself come out of this stressful situation. When our mind is hooked into either past or worried about future it is normal to have lot of negative thoughts and in turn feeling low. The good news is that our mind could be wired to switch back to positive thinking and resilience building. We have immense potential within us and we could tap into those one step at a time, one day at a time. When things does not happen as we wish or people do not behave as we expect that is when out of disappointment, frustration, loneliness, anger, sadness. Etc we react and our mind starts thinking negative thoughts. Changing this pattern of responding to stressful situation requires both persistence and patience. I would suggest few things below. If you are unable to follow these things suggested here you should consult a psychologist. Also you will only be able to work on this out of love and kindness towards you. Strong motivation will go a long way. Writing a statement about how would you want to respond in a similar situation and how will your life and your happiness will change if you do learn to manage your stress and how to respond to it. Once that is clear. Try following things to learn relaxation response which leads to better coping mechanism on a daily basis. To begin with doing guided progressive muscular relaxation before sleeping will help you relax. You could google and download an audio file. I would also suggest you to take a multiple small break to take 3 nice and deep breath while keeping your eyes closed. You could do this while sitting or standing or while even walking or climbing stairs (keep your eyes open in that case). When you take a nice and deep break there is actual physiological change in your body. This will help you to activate parasympathetic nervous system which promotes relaxation and helps you calm down and think more clearly. This will also actually improve your performance in your work. Along with this exercise is one of the best way to relive stress and stay fit. Engage in any kind of physical activity at least 4 times a week. This also helps in stress reduction. Along with this some relaxation exercises as well as engaging in joyful activities such as music, singing, dancing, reading, being in nature, gardening, talking with friends or anything which you enjoy will help reducing stress and rejuvenation of your mind and body. Have good routine for sleep and eating. Lot of research has now proven that sugar is very harmful for our health. Reduce sugar and refined white floor in your diet as much as you could. Along with this also increase consumption of raw vegetables in the form of salad in both the meals of your day. Let me. If you are not able to take charge and bring yourself up then I would recommend consulting a psychologist and work with him or her for few months and learn how to manage your stress and resolve the current issue as well. Know if you need any further help. Feel free to contact me for free consultation to figure out how could I help you. Hope this help wishing you very best.
