How does our immune system work.

MD - Alternate Medicine, BHMS
Homeopath,
Our immune system uses a huge army of defender cells i. E. Different types of white blood cell. You make about 1000 million of them every day in your bone marrow. Some of these cells, called macrophages, constantly patrol your body, destroying germs as soon as they enter. This is your'natural' or inborn immunity. But if an infection begins to take hold, your body fights back with an even more powerful defence of t- and b-cells. They give you acquired immunity, so that the same germ can never make you as ill again.

She suffering from asthma what is the best medication for her.?

Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)
Ayurveda,
Ayurvedic medicine is only cure. Take 11 guava leaves, 11 black pepper, 1 cup milk and one cup water. Put all of them in pot and boil it well, when it reduced to one cup, drink in empty stomach. Take this daily for at least six months or a year. Boil cumin seeds in water and inhale the steam. It helps dilate the bronchial passage. Take 5 gm of ginger, black pepper, cardamom, clove, cinnamon, turmeric and 30 gm of sugar. Grind the mix to a powder. Take half to one teaspoonful and mix it nicely with honey. Take it twice a day

MD - Ayurveda, Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)
Ayurveda, Palakkad
Allergic asthma is a very common presentation in the clinics these days. Patients usually present with allery to dust, smoke, spices etc which initiate sneezing progressing to itching in eyes, rhinitis (running nose), throat pain and eventually cough and difficulty in breathing.
in todays world it is almost imposssible to always avoid the allergen, so the better option is to strengthen the body to fight against these.
Ayurveda advocates certain daily regimens which can help in this.
1.Proper oral hygiene has to be maintained. Practice tooth brushing at morning and before bedtime. Ensure proper mouth wash after every meal.
2. Pratimarsh nasya - This is the practise of instilling oil in the nose. This can be practised easily by an individual. Instill 4-5 drops of sesame oil daily in each nostril and inhale deeply. This has to be practiced early in the morning.
3.Make a habit of applying Rasnadi powder (An ayurvedic medicated poweder) over the vertex immediately after bath and also at bedtime. Avoid sleeping directly under the fan or other cooling sources.
4. Intake of buttermilk processed with turmeric poder, curry leaves, ginger is also useful.
5. Add ginger, garlic esentially in all meals.
6. Yogic practices like breathing exercises can support the lung capacity and cleansing practices like neti can help in developing desensitization to allergens.
7. Drinking water should be boiled with cumin seeds and always consumed as lukewarm.
8. Oil massage before bath can help a lot. Sesame oil can be used for this, for those having frequent episodes of chest congestion muatard oil will give better results. Take bath in warm water only.

Sir whenever I went to dust, I got allergic. And my upper part of eyes get pain. Why sir?

MBBS, MS - Ophthalmology
Ophthalmologist, Delhi
Sir whenever I went to dust, I got allergic. And my upper part of eyes get pain. Why sir?
Eye allergies are bothered by the same irritants that cause sneezing and a runny nose among seasonal allergy sufferers and are very common among them. The most common airborne allergens that cause eye allergies are pollen, mold, dust and pet dander. They can also be caused by reactions to certain cosmetics or eye drops, including artificial tears used for treating dry eyes that contain preservatives. Take following precautions to get relief: 1) avoid allergens 2) remove the contact lens (if using any) 3) use specific prescribed medicines recommended by your doctor for your eye allergy.

Its allergic cough. You should always keep your noses and mouth covered whenever you go out. Second thing you can do is make a habit of taking steam inhalation daily before going to bed. In case of allergic cough taking prevention is always best as taking medicine very frequently might have side effects.

Hold the shoulder blades on both sides of the neck with 4 fingers of each hand and press on either side of the scapula with the thumbs on both sides of the vertebrae. Ask him to inhale slowly while the pressure is given with the thumbs and exhale while you release the thumbs. Do this 10 or 15 times whenever he finds difficulty in breathing. This will solve his problem. Further press his thumb on both sides and release. Pl inform the progress after 5 days.

What medications are best for the treatment of asthma? What are their side effects?

MD - Pulmonary Medicine
Pulmonologist, Khammam
Hi. Prevention n avoidance of triggers play the most important role in asthma management. Novel medications are available now for asthma are inhalers. Regular usage of these keeps your asthma in control. Side effects are negligible compared to oral pills. Bcause they are a part of targeted therapy. Work at the site of disease with out altering other systems. Thanq.
