Exercising Tips for Diabetes

Exercising Tips for Diabetes
EXERCISE TIPS FOR DIABETICS

Regular exercise can lower blood glucose and possibly reduce the amount of medication you need to treat diabetes, or even eliminate the need for medication. Here are a few useful exercise tips:

Get your doctor’s approval before starting an exercise program
Start slowly with a low-impact exercise such as walking, swimming or jogging
Warm up for 5 minutes before starting to exercise and cool down for 5 minutes after
Avoid doing activity in extremely hot or cold temperatures. Choose indoor options when the weather is extreme
Drink plenty of water before, during, and after activity to stay hydrated
Always carry a source of carbohydratewith you so you’ll be ready to treat low blood glucose
Activities should be energizing but not overly difficult
Wear athletic shoes that are in good shape and are the right type for your activity
Try to exercise at the same time every day for the same duration. This will help control your blood sugar
Exercise at least three times a week for about 30 to 45 minutes
If you plan to exercise more than an hour after eating, it’s a good idea to have a snack.
If you use insulin, exercise after eating, not before
Test your blood sugar before, during and after exercising
Do not exercise when your blood sugar is more than 240
Carefully inspect your feet before and after activity for blisters, redness or other signs of irritation
Stop doing an activity if you feel any pain, shortness of breath or light-headedness.
Talk to your doctor about any unusual symptoms that you experience.

For diabetes follow a diet low in carbohydrate, low in salt, low in fat and high in fibre. Avoid bakery products. Avoid too much rice and potato. Avoid fried stuff. Avoid chocolate, cakes, ice cream, soft drinks and fruit juices. Eat lots of vegetables. Walk for at least 30 minutes a day for 5 days in a week. Medicine and insulin will work better if you follow diet and exercise. Medicine apke blood report (khane is pehle aur khane ke baad) dekne ke baad de sakte he.

The belly will not be reduced but the blood sugar will increase. In diabetes you should do exercise to reduce the weight or belly or even blood sugar level. Dear, don't do such harmful experiments with such a beautiful creation of god. You can decrease belly with some homeopthic medicines.

What are the various tests that a t2 diabetic should do on a regular basis and what is the timeframe to be followed? this is for my mother who is on bedtime tresiba (8 units ave.) and also takes galvusmet 500/50 mg twice daily and amaryl 2mg twice daily.

MD - Pathology
Pathologist, Noida
First thing is to decide whether your sugar levels are controlled (within range) or not. - means that sugar fasting, post prandial should all be within normal range. This needs to be supplemented by hbaic test - done 3 monthly, to check preceding sugar levels. Again a baseline lft, kidney panel are a must and based on abnormal parameters in these tests, further course to be decided.

Mr. lybrate-user, All fruits contain fructose. But in persons with diabetes usually following fruits are to be avoided like banana, mango, grapes & Chikkoo. The reason the quantity of sugar is much higher. Other fruits are good enough. But in a person with diabete, fruit intake is permitted only when the blood glucose control is really very good. Fruits mentioned by you particularly grapes and banana are to be avoided. But occasionally a small quantity can be taken. Thanks.

Treating Infertility with Homeopathy

B.H.M.S
Sexologist, Hyderabad
Treating Infertility with Homeopathy

Infertility is a condition, which is diagnosed as the inability of the woman to conceive a child even after a prolonged duration of unprotected intercourse (for about 6 months to 1 year). This condition can affect both the genders. Infertility might cause immense societal embarrassment for the couple and can mar the joys of a relationship. The causes of infertility in male and female are as follows:

  1. In males, infertility might stem from injury to the testicles, erectile problems, premature ejaculation, infections due to sexually transmitted diseases, structural deformation of the testicles, little or irregular sperm count and blockage of the ejaculatory duct.
  2. In females, infertility might develop due to abnormal periods, polycystic ovarian syndrome, diseases which cause inflammation of the pelvis such as gonorrhoea and chlamydia, a disorder in the thyroid glands, blockage of the fallopian tubes and structural deformation of the uterus.
  3. The common reasons of infertility in both men and women can be attributed to increased body weight, old age, excessive consumption of alcohol, diabetes, mental anxiety, side effect of radiation therapy and prescribed medications.

As it is a holistic mode of treatment, Homeopathy can be used to treat infertility as the preparations do not contain any toxin and has zero side effects.
1. In men, if the reason behind infertility is irregular sperm count, then a prescribed dosage of X-Ray might help.
2. If infertility is caused due to erectile problems along with symptoms of severe mental stress, involuntary discharge of semen and lack of sexual desire, a prescribed dosage of Caladium or Selenium might be helpful.
3. If the discharge from the vagina appears to be acidic which gradually destroys the sperms, Borax might be prescribed.
4. If the woman suffers from episodes of irregular, but enduring menstrual periods, a prescribed dosage of Calcarea Carb might be helpful. If the duration of the periods is short, Pulsatilla might also be prescribed.
5. In women, if the symptoms include a lack of sexual desire along with excessive pain in the vagina during sexual intercourse, Sepia might be recommended.

What causes hashimoto's thyroiditis, and what is the best method of treatment? can iodine help this condition?
You can take Nutrient-rich foods that improve your health may also benefit your thyroid gland, antioxidant-rich fruits and vegetables more plenty of water: Blueberries, tomatoes, bell peppers, and other foods rich in antioxidants can improve overall health and benefit the thyroid gland. Eating foods high in B vitamins, like whole grains, may also help. Selenium: Tiny amounts of selenium are needed for enzymes that make thyroid hormones to work properly. Eating selenium-rich foods, such as sunflower seeds or Brazil nuts, can be beneficial. Tyrosine: This amino acid is used by the thyroid gland to produce T3 and T4. Taking a supplement may help, avoid alcohl if you take.

She should consume more of green leafy vegetables, salads and permitted fruits (100 g a day). Always use whole grain flour for roti and chapati. Avoid all items made of maida. Thanks.

My wife's endocrinology reports are as given below T3: 1.0 ng/ml (Limit: 0.6 - 1.8 ng/dl) T4: 11.5 ug/dl (Limit: 4.0- 12.0 ug/dl) TSH: 8.9 uIU/m (Limit: 0.3 - 6.0 uIU/ml) Kindly suggest whether I should seek any further medical attention, is this increased level is worrisome? Age of my Wife is 24 years. We were married 8 months back. Shes not pregnant. Kindly suggest whether there are any food habits which could help me to reduce the thyroid level?

Diploma in Diabetology, MD - Internal Medicine, MBBS
Endocrinologist, Srinagar
Your wife's thyroid report suggests she has subclinical hypothyroidism, and since you r recently married and not conceived yet I suppose, she needs to be started on treatment if planning conceiving if she has family history of thyroid disease and if menstrual cycles r normal x any neck swelling but I suggest get her thyroid profile repeated and in addition do anti tpo antibody levels to see if she has autoimmune thyroid disease, anyway you don't need to worry she can be managed with thyroid medications, kindly report back after rpt investigations or see an endocrinologist, whatever is feasible to you.

Mr Nana, If she having hypothyroidism, then the treatment with thyroxine tablet has to be continued for life time. The reason for that is : There is a deficiency important hormone thyroxine produced by thyroid gland. This hormone is required for development of brain and its functioning, daily needed for almost every metabolic activity of the body. So if it is not available internally then there has to be a regular supplementation done from out side in the form of Thyroxine tablets, hence it has to be given for lifetime.
