I'm 21 age old. I'm facing problem of white discharge. So wat should I do to improve that.

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology
Gynaecologist, Mumbai
If the discharge is causing itching or fowl smell then it is some kind of infection, which should be treated immediately. If there is no itching or fowl smell then it has to be physiological leukorrhoea, which occurs because of hormonal imbalance, which is mostly caused by hormonal changes which is temporary.

Hello doctor I am 18 weeks pregnant is it right to get close (sexual contact) with my husband at this stage of pregnancy?

MBBS, MD Psychiatry, DNB Psychiatry
Psychiatrist, Nagpur
Sex during 12 weeks to 28 weeks is comparatively safe unless you are specifically asked by your gynecologist to abstain in case of high risk pregnancy. In case of any personal doubts you may consult your treating gynecologist without hesitation

Kindly go for an ultrasound pregnancy for fetal well being. Sometimes it could be implantation bleed and sometimes it might be sign of impending abortion which can be managed by medication. Also you might need blood tests esp thyroid tests.

Hi doctor, mine is a long story. I am 26 year old. When I was 17, I was diagonized with gemcell tumor and had taken 6 cycle of chemotherapy and surgically removed my left every. Once after the treatment my periods are regular. One day I got my period 7 days late first I thought I am pregnant and took HPT which showed negative consulted gynic. On further investigation we found that tube which is attached to my only right ovary is blocked due to the prior operation. And ivf is the only go. My Amh level is only 0.67. And we did the ivf on Jan 2016 cycle. My last period was on Jan 17 and my Dr. could relive 6 eggs on Jan 30 the, in which 2 are not matured, among remaining 4 only I got fertilized (they have done icsi) which is of 1-8cell gr b/c. And we had a 3 day transfer that was on Feb 02 2016. My doctor asked me to take susten 200mg (2 - 1 - 2) till Feb 16th, 16th is my blood test. But on Feb 14th that will be 12dpo 3dt (if I am not wrong), when I wiped I saw some very very small amount of brown color discharge. Which upsets me a lot since my actual period is due was on 13th Feb. I inserted 2 of susten 200mg, after inserting no spotting so far. Will susten delays already started period? I am too scared to take a HPT. If its negative it will be the end to my hopes. One more cycle of ivf we can't afford financially. So my last chance and hope.

General Physician, Chandigarh
If you are following the treatment strictly then don't worry hope for the best as you are already taking ivf treatment you must be aware of the success rate stay positive May God help you

Hi. I done an unprotected sex on 12th july and my mensuration date is 25 july. My periods is not starting but feeling pain from last 5 days. I test 6 time by preganews and the result is negative. What I do to start my period. is am pregnant or not? last month I took continuous 7 days a pill for shifting my period, Is this there side effects or I am pregnant. please help me. please request.

Gynaecologist, Thane
Tablets taken last month for postponing your periods doesnt prolong next cycle. Since you had unprotected sex in your fertile period, which is around 2 weeks before next period date, there is a chance of pregnancy, preganews will show results 4-5 days after due date. If you have done the urine test today, and it is negative, pregnancy is less likely. My advice for you would be to wait for 3-4 days, since pain has started, if periods dont come then repeat urine test after3 days. There is no medicine to start the periods at this stage. Be careful next time, try to use regular contraception to avoid such situations. Have you taken any I pill or other emergency contraception? that can also delay your periods.

Mai 33 yrs ki hun meri shadi ko 4 months ho gayen hai pr mai abhi tak conceive nahi kr pa rahi hun kya eski wajah mere husband ki diabetic & hypertension hai.

DNB (Obstetrics and Gynecology), PGDHHM, MBBS

4 months of time is not a time for get worried. Sometimes it takes more than one year to get conceive naturally. For some women, getting pregnant happens very quickly, but for others it can take longer. This can be upsetting, but it is normal. Figure out your fertile days, avoid smoking and alcohol, have healthy diet and avoid stress.

I am 30 years old female housewife after delivery my weight started increasing n now after 5 years it reached till 90. I even do not have any medical issues like thyroid or diabetes. So what should I do now?

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology
Gynaecologist, Mumbai
Primary objective of your treatment is weight reduction and maintain normal bmi of 18-25. This will regularize the monthly cycles and also help you get pregnant. You can take metformin to reduce weight. For reducing your weight you should have brisk walk or jogging for 4-5 km daily, high protein diet (fish, chicken, mutton without fat, pulses, mushrooms), low carbohydrate diet (avoid rice, chapatti, bread, poha, upma, idli, dosa, potato, sugar etc and can use bhakri instead) and low fat i. E. Less oil and preferably use rice bran oil.

I had intercourse today and my bf ejected inside mee my last periods cycle is 28th july. And mine is a 20days cycle should be worried now wil I be pregnant now.

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)

If your perio cycle is of 20 days, it means that your next periods were due on 16 aug, means that your cycle has already exceeded by 3 days when you had intercourse. So there are no chances of any pregnancy.

Heimlich maneuver- How to save a person choking

MD - Physiology, MBBS
General Physician, Bangalore
Heimlich maneuver- How to save a person choking
Heimlich Maneuver- How to save a person choking?

You can try this maneuver on people who have choked upon food, articles and you have very less time to wait for the emergency services to rescue.
Try the heimlich maneuver and you could be gifting a person his/her life.
Firstly check upon the person if he has really choked on something. Usually they will be gasping for air as the choking must have blocked the air passages. He/she may not be in a state to tell you if they have choked upon something as they cant talk but you can clearly see signs of struggle.

Tell your friend to immediately call emergency services while you try heimlich maneuver.

Never give forceful blows on the back as this may cause the object to go further down the trachea causing more difficulty in breathing.

Try heimlich maneuver:-

1. Stand behind the patient keeping your legs stable so that if the patient falls you can give proper support.

2. Encircle your hands from behind the patient such that the level is midway below the breastbone and above the navel.

3. Make a fist of your dominant hand and slip in the thumb of the dominant hand inside the fist so that you don't hurt the patient during the maneuver.

4. Now hold the fist with the other non dominant hand.

5. Now give abdominal thrusts from behind. Pull upwards and inwards using a good amount of force.

6. Do step 5 quicker and forcefully. This shall dislodge the object and by coughing it will get expelled out. Keep doing this until the object comes out.

7. If the person gets unconscious (shows that the object is not getting dislodged and the condition is worsening) stop the maneuver and immediately try to take them to the emergency room.

8. The person shall need cardiopulmonary resucitation to rescue his life.

Hope this helped.

5 Health Tips that Prevent You Against Sports Injuries

5 Health Tips that Prevent You Against Sports Injuries

Do you remember the last time you had a searing knee pain in the middle of your morning run? It was probably because you did not warm up properly. The incidence of injuries in various sports has gone up in the recent times, and it is mostly due to the lack of proper warm up exercises. However, other factors come into play as well, such as the pressure of increased workload on the current batch of athletes, missing a trick or two with the proper technique to be followed, etc.

In order to reduce the risk of an injury, it is advised to follow these simple tips:

  1. Set realistic goals for yourself: Don’t go overboard with anything that includes repetitively stressing and straining your body over a certain degree. If you are planning to go for a run or hit to the gym, make sure you set goals that you can sustain and find feasible. One example of this would be to not increase the amount of weight drastically while lifting weights as it can lead to serious injuries.

  2. Follow the right technique: Proper technique is very important in sports, a lack of which can lead to injuries. Ask your trainer to observe your form when you perform any activity. Focus on your breathing and posture when you are exercising.

  3. Warm up before you begin exercising: Warming up before you exercise or play a sport is important as it helps loosen your muscles and boost blood circulation. It drastically reduces the risks of sustaining injuries, and also prepares your body for the subsequent exercise.

  4. Cool down: Similar to an essential warm up is the need to cool down; it is another aspect that should not be ignored. Cooling down usually consists of stretches and postures that promote flexibility. The muscles become sore after working out. Stretching can help reduce post workout pain and make the joints flexible. Cooling down also helps in eliminating lactic acid from the muscles, which means less pain after exercise.

  5. Listen to your body: During an activity, if you feel that you can no longer carry on, terminate the activity. The chances of injury rise if you continue to push your body over your threshold limit. If you think that you can no longer carry on doing something without risking an injury, avoid doing it altogether. Listen to your body, and it shall never fail you.

If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult the doctor and ask a free question.

Most common cause of infertility is normal reports wait for few months, do yoga and meditation as relaxing helps to conceive as relaxing does keep the tubes open otherwise think about ivf.

Drink plenty of water. 3 glasses in empty stomach is ideal.

Hi, I've a 5 month baby. I think that my breast milk supply is not enough for my baby. So I want to know how I can increase my breast milk supply. Means what food I should take or anything else to increase breast milk?

There are no such medications I am afraid. However you can try reglan tablet 10mg thrice daily for 5 days and see if this helps. This is an antiemetic and is not used for this purpose ; though a few of my patients have benefitted.
