Walnuts Shields From Colon Cancer

Eating 28 grams of walnuts everyday may change gut bacteria in a way that suppresses colon cancer a new research has found by university of Connecticut Health centre in United States

Walnuts has the most poly unsaturated fatty acids of all the commonly eaten tree nuts as well as the highest ratio of Omega - 3 to Omega - 6 fatty acids and high levels of a form of Vitamin E with anti cancer properties

They found that walnut consumption tended to push the gut microbiome toward an ecology that was potentially protective against Cancer.

Dear lybrate-user you have not mentioned why did you get ultrasound done. Anyway 5 mm stone in kidney if asymptomatic, nothing to worry but have one consultation with urologist. Ovarian cyst of this size if not causing any problem take ocs for three months and repeat ultrasound. If cyst disappears nothing to worry. If remains of same size and asymptomatic nothing to be done. If cyst grows and reaches 6 cm and belonged, surgery is only option.

Hello- pain during ejaculation and urination suggests that you are suffering from urinary/genital tract infection. 1) reduce your ejaculation schedule. 2) drink plenty of boiled water. 3) avoid spicy foods. 4) start consuming multivitamins.

There is small black soft lesion outside my anus, I had tried using some anti fungal cream. But it is of no use whatsoever.

It is likely to be a skin tag or a pile. If there is pain on defecation, there might be an associated fissure, as a precursor of this tag. Passing of blood drops during defecation may be related to piles. In fissure also there might be smearing of the side of the stools with some blood. The general measures I would suggest are 1. Take lot of vegetables & fruits in your diet 2. Avoid chillies & spices 3. Take lot of fluids 4. Avoid constipation 5 periodically do anal exercises (alternately contracting & relaxing the buttocks, anal area & upper thighs)

Get URINE-RM test done as these symptoms can be caused by urinary tract infection. Take plenty of liquids. If you don't have fever start morning walk and exercise.

prevention of kidney stones

DNB (General Surgery), MS - General Surgery
General Surgeon, Sri Ganganagar
prevention of kidney stones
Renal stone formation is very common in the hot climate. Renal stone formation is very common problem in north india. These are tips for prevention of the renal stones:

Stones are formed when there is nucleation and infection of the renal system. This can be simply prevented by drinking adequate amount of liquids. Now the question is how to know that we are having adequate intake of liquids. Our urine output must be more than 1.5 lt which can be achieved by taking 2.5 lt of fluid in winter and 4 lt of fluid in summers. The colour of the urine must be white or pale yellow which shows adequate urine.

Most of the stones are of calcium oxalate type. There is myth that taking milk and milk products will increase the stone formation but the fact is oral intake of calcium helps in decreasing the absorption of the oxalate from gut and prevent stone formation. So one should take adequate amount of milk and products. (note: calcium supplement can increase stone formation so avoid them).

Try to reduce the food which is very rich in oxalate: common food highly rich in oxalate includes:
Green leafy vegetable
Cashew nuts, almonds, peanuts
Soy products.

Avoid food which have animal protein like non veg food. These food increases the incidence of the stones. Preferably eat vegetable proteins.

Try to take less sodium diet. People who eat high sodium excrete more calcium in the urine and thus can form the stones.

Chronic kidney stones are often treated with potassium citrate, but limeade, lemonade and other fruits and juices high in natural citrate offers the same stone-preventing benefits. So drink more and more such food.

These were few tips for prevention of kidney stones. Management of stones depends upon the size, location and symptoms of the stone. Not all stones are dangerous but few can be such dangerous that can damage kidney.

The term HbA1c refers to glycated hemoglobin. It develops when hemoglobin, a protein within red blood cells that carries oxygen throughout your body, joins with glucose in the blood, becoming 'glycated'. By measuring glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c), clinicians are able to get an overall picture of what our average blood sugar levels have been over a period of weeks/months. For people with diabetes this is important as the higher the HbA1c, the greater the risk of developing diabetes-related complications. HbA1c is also referred to as hemoglobin A1c or simply A1c.

I am 21 years old and living in the United States and from September 2016, I've been suffering from rectal bleeding and pain. It's recurring, sometimes stays for 3-4 weeks or even more, sometimes for 2-3 days. II've started eating fibrous food so my stool isn't even hard anymore, but still the rectal bleeding keeps back coming after every other week. The doctors here gave an external rectal exam and found no external hemorrhoids, and suggested that either they're internal or it could be a fissure. They gave an ointment, Hydrocortisone Acetate Pramoxine HCI cream, which didn't work for me. When I pass stool during these times, it pains a lot, almost unbearable. And on the tissue paper, there's bright red blood. I take warm showers and eat fibrous food, but the pain remains for at least 12-14 hours.

MS, MBBS
General Surgeon, Nagpur
Dear lybrate-user, You might be suffering from a fissure in ano. This may not be an acute fissure, as the doctors were able to do per rectal examination, suggests you don't have anal spasm. I suggest you to start SITZ BATH for 10-15 minutes for 3-4 times a day. To reduce the anal sphincter tone NIFEDIPINE ointment is usually prescribed with LIGNOCAINE. I suggest you to get a prescription for the same. Apply them after SITZ BATH after drying the area. Don't forget to put a little inside Also avoid fried, fatty, spicy, masala foods. Green leafy vegetables, fruits and grains with husks which have high fibre content are encouraged. Do not forget to drink plenty of water. Ease continue this for a minimum period of 2-3 weeks. I hope this helps. Do not hesitate to get a consult. Hope to see you relieved soon Thanks.
