Hello lybrate-user. Throat cancer usually does not present with symptoms like throat itching, irritation or soreness. So you should not worry. He should undergo a thorough throat examination including direct / indirect laryngoscopy to arrive at a diagnosis causing these symptoms. Cigar smoking may also cause these throat symptoms. Please see an ent physician in your area. Also for rash on the neck you may consult a skin physician.

Sorry to hear. Tinnitus if present with hearing loss. It may not go. Kindly go for Tinnitus retraining therapy TRT with audiologist. Headache may be vascular headache or migraine. Which require lifestyle modifications. Yoga, peanayama and meditation is helpful. Both are going to be with you. But can be controlled well.

I Lybrate-user, Yes, Ayurveda can help you to cure allergy and cold. You have to improve your immunity. Allergy is a disorder in which the body becomes hypersensitive to particular antigens which provokes characteristic symptoms whenever they are subsequently encounter, whether inhaled, ingested, infected or otherwise contacted. Normally antibodies in the blood stream and tissues react with and destroy specific antigen without further trouble. Different allergies afflict different tissues and may have either local or general effects. When a person's routine life is disturbed, he gets disturbed and agitated and functioning of endocrine glands gets adversely affected which ultimately causes, at time allergic reaction/metabolic changes. You should avoid Urad, banana, oil fried food spices. Saline water gargle should be done before meals. Non-irritating and bland diet, hot water, lemon, green and leafy vegetables particularly having sour and bitter taste. You can also doing this at home: 6-7 basil leaves 5-6 cloves (powder) 2-3 black piper 1/4 teaspoon ginger paste all this add in 150 ml of water then boiling mild flame and reduce to 100 ml. Later filtered and allowed to warm o it's own. Then add 2 teaspoon of honey and drink .it gives you relieved. Hot water steam will also facilitate draining from the nose and also provide relief in pain over forehead. Every day, in morning put 3-4 drops of cow ghee in your both nasal then sleep 10 to 15 min. Ayurveda nasya treatment gives you permenant relief. You feel better. For further treatment you take an online appointment for further details and treatment to get relief permanent.

Can you say me what is the reason behind why the patient will suffer from adverse reactions like vertigo, renal impairment. Will the adverse reactions of the drug differs from a patient to patient like their age, diet, personality?

Any medicine which taken for long in high doses this leads to side effects, but here in your case I am not finding high doses you need to get your ear checked and get audiological report, humming sound, whistling and giddiness are the problems which are getting in people are very common these days, these get complicated when they are not taken care of at proper time whistling or buzzing in the ear is getting commoner these days in people of all ages. Most common causes is wax or any object in the ear, after getting your ears clean these gets over. But if ears are already clean than this is worrisome. Common causes which are responsible are high cholesterol diet, alcohol, smoking, loud noises, cervical spondylosis, trauma (self or inflicted) over the ears. If this is the situation than report to your ent doctor immediately tinnitus is basically due to hampered blood supply to ears due to which ears start dying. As this process starts a person starts hearing noises. When a person starts hearing noises then it is already late diagnosis as these noises gets heard by someone when they are of 40 db intensity, below that threshold these noises are not heard. So it is already to late and the damage has become permanent. Problem with these noises are that we can control at what level person goes to his specialist otherwise these noises keep on increasing and can give you headache frustration and depression. Now a days tinnitus maskers are available which help you to lead your life peacefully.

Hello and welcome to lybrate. Your sister's epistaxis is might be due to dry nose and itching die to allergy. Finger pricking is most common. Anyway using botroclot drop combined with nasvion-s drop might relieve the symptoms. If bleeding continues, she might need help of an ent surgeon. Thanks.

What you need yo know about Chronic Sinusitis?

DNB (ENT), MBBS
ENT Specialist, Bangalore
What you need yo know about Chronic Sinusitis?

You may feel congestion or fullness all over your face, pain around eyes, forehead, and face, and may have a runny nose or nasal congestion. The condition may be chronic sinusitis and knowing the symptoms will help you manage the condition effectively.

Chronic sinusitis is a condition where the cavities around the nasal passages, i.e., the sinuses become swollen and inflamed and stays like that for about 12 weeks. It is a persisting condition, and one or more sinuses are affected in this condition.

What causes chronic sinusitis?
There are quite a few causes that can lead to chronic sinusitis. Some of them are:

  • A damaged nasal septum may cause the blockage of the sinus passages, thereby leading to chronic sinusitis.
  • The growth of nasal polyps in the sinus passages causes the blocking of the passages and thus may lead to chronic sinusitis.
  • Infections in the respiratory tract which can be viral, bacterial or fungal like cold and cough may cause the inflammation of the tissues in the nasal passage and thus block the passage for mucous movement. Such a condition also leads to chronic sinusitis.
  • Other causes include some medical conditions like any immune system related diseases such as HIV or any complications of cystic fibrosis, gastroesophageal reflux, etc.
  • Sometimes allergic conditions may also lead to the inflammation of the tissues of the nasal passage and result in the same.

Know The Symptoms To Self-diagnose
There are four primary symptoms related to chronic sinusitis out of which a person requires to be confirmed of the presence of at least two symptoms for the doctor to suspect chronic sinusitis. These are:

  • Congestion of the nasal passage causing breathing difficulties through the nose.
  • Discharge of highly viscous or thick, discolored mucus from the nose and also drainage of such down the back of your throat.
  • Swelling, tenderness, and pain around the eyes, cheeks, nose, and forehead.
  • A cough or reduced taste and smell sensations in the adults.

Other symptoms include a sore throat, pain in the upper jaw and teeth, ear pain, worsened cough at night, etc.

Clinical Diagnosis
There are quite a few ways by which your doctor is going to diagnose the problem, some of which are:

  • Observing the nasal passage by nasal endoscopy, that is by inserting an endoscope with a fiber-optic light. This process is also called Rhinoscopy.
  • Details of your nasal area can also be observed using the images obtained from a CT or MRI scan.
  • If any of the above tests fail, a tissue culture test of your nasal passage and sinus is done to identify the infection you are affected with.

Allergy tests may also be done if the doctor suspects the condition to be caused by any allergies.

Various medications, immune-therapies, and even surgeries are opted for reducing the inflammation or for making way for the mucus to move out. The treatment is chosen depending on the severity of the situation.

In case you have a concern or query you can always consult an expert & get answers to your questions!
