My teeth becomes yellow. I daily brush 2 times a. 15 mins in one time. Tell me the treatment.
Hey hii I got your question about your worry for yellow colour of teeth let me explain that if your compaction is towards white your natural colour of teeth is in slightly yellow tinge if it's not that you must be using harsh brushing with hard brush change it to medium bristol brush if it is not like it then check out your acidity it is causing warpage of enamel exposing dentine which is yellow in colour.

I have yellow teeth so is there any whitening gel or bleaching or any method for making teeth whiten at home.

The simplest method of removing minor surface stains is polishing, or micro-abrasion if staining is more intrinsic. Provided that your discolouration is not due to inadequate enamel exposing the dentin, tooth whitening (bleaching) is often the most effective treatment for yellow stained teeth. Advance procedures can be done with laser. Use Snowdent tooth paste for whitening until then. Apply SNOWDENT paste on the teeth. Wait for 10 to 15 min .Then brush your teeth with the same paste. Applying it overnight for better results.

How A Dental Checkup Is Beneficial For Overall Health?

How A Dental Checkup Is Beneficial For Overall Health?

When you walk into a dental consult assuming it’ll be just about that tooth which is hurting you’ll be shocked to know that it’s a lot more than just that.Every dentist is meant to evaluate you on a variety of characteristics starting from your mental make up down to your risk assessment. Remember (hangover the line about you’re just a dentist) those movies that talk about dentists not being doctors Well if you read on you’ll know why dentists are doing all the heavy lifting when it comes to your overall health as well.

1. Checking your overall health: It starts from the waiting room where we tend to check your overall appearance rule out any obvious syndromes and diseases. Your body language, breathing rate and sometimes even your gait can be telltale signs of underlying problems that when diagnosed well can medically save you years of treatment. A patient of ours was really tall and had a very oddly pronounced bone structure and we ordered hormone tests turns out he had a growth hormone excess which was due to a tumour which was thankfully removed in time. If you were panting getting to your dentist on the first floor you may want to get a fitness assessment for your heart.

2. Checking your facial profile: Your face shape colour and size has a lot to do with how your smile fits into that frame. Most dentists have a good idea about your teeth size shape and even alignment even before you open your mouth.

3. Profiling your personality: We learn to classify personality types in dental school as this helps us in communicating with you better and also customizing your smiles based on your nature. If you’re a bold female in a corporate job we reckon strong squarish teeth will suit your personality as opposed to round small teeth. If you’re a methodical and detail oriented patient chances are you’re extremely conscious about your dental hygiene as well. If you’re extremely phobic of the entire dental process we have prior assessments for the same to ensure proper treatment approaches suited to your needs.

4. Assessing your genetic propensity: When your dental checkup is happening we also take a family history to understand if you are genetically more prone to cavities and dental problems. These patterns have a tremendous genetic repetition and even if you brush twice a day you may wonder why you end up with cavities it could be because genetically you are more prone. This doesn’t mean all is lost but this means that you will have to protect yourself more than regular hygiene methods like a fluoride treatment annually starting from a young age can help give you extra protection.

5. Checking for any joint problems: Some of us end up getting severe facial pain and problems with our facial joints near the ears. Since this falls between the grey area of an ear, nose, throat physician or a dentist we don’t know who exactly will solve these problems. But many dentists undertake TMJ studies as a specialty in itself since it’s more to do with jaws and teeth than the ears. A normal checkup will entail assessing your joint is healthy as well.

6. Saving you from CancerA dentist also must check your gums lips and cheeks to rule out any white patches or growths that may increase your risk to cancer. A routine full mouth panoramic X-ray is actually legally mandatory after each checkup to rule out any hidden bone or jaw growths.

If you are someone who shudders at the sound of the word dentist, read our blog to help you to take the first step.

All individuals requires scaling (cleaning) to be done atleast once in 6 months to maintain our oral hygiene clean. Our toothbrush is not much finely designed to clean all the plaque and calculi in the interdental areas of the teeth, which is the area where most of the calculus accumulate much and has to be removed regularly using scalers by the dentist.

I have a small reddish painless bump underneath my tongue. Can you tell me the reason for that bump.

MBBS, Diploma in Venerology & Dermatology (DVD)
Dermatologist, Delhi
Red bumps on or underneath the tongue can be alarming. At the very least, they are the result of eating too many acidic or sugary foods and at the most they could be a sign of disease. In most cases, these bumps are merely a nuisance. Most of the time, red bumps underneath your tongue or anywhere in your mouth have probably been caused by irritation. If you've recently eaten something very sugary, salty or acidic, bumps may form in the mouth. In some cases, a red bump under the tongue may be exostosis. This occurs when extra bone forms in the lower jaw and presses into the tender underside of the tongue. If you eat hard or crunchy foods and accidentally poke this bump, it can get irritated. These bumps may take a while to heal. Should the red bumps under your tongue get worse, last longer than a couple of weeks, bleed or get so painful that you can't eat, see your doctor for a thorough diagnosis to determine the exact cause. He may also prescribe a stronger oral gel to ease your suffering.

Cavities has to be filled from dentist soon. Otherwise it will progress deeper inside teeth and will cause infection and swelling. Visit to a dentist for examination and proper treatment.

My grand father (70 years) have implanted tooth in his mouth which is fixed by 6 screws but now all the dentition and screws is removed because of loose fixing so should we go for cortical implant and is it going to affect the gums or it may get loose as earlier fitting due of loosen gums we want to go for permanent dentition so cortical implant is good or something else please suggest. And he had angioplasty stent in his coronary vessels 2-3 years back.

Please take opinion of a dentist, as a gp, I can suggest to you that dentures will be a better choice compared to implants. Bones get hollow with age, call it osteoporosis & it is part of ageing process, despite good intake of calcium & vit. D & a high proten diet with moderate exercise which are good for heart & also for regeneration of bone cells, well to a minial extent only. We lose hair with age and only lucky few can retain their teeth. Implants are for fairly young people 7 they do become a part of body if fitted even around 40+ but they do get shed when wear and tear of bones including bones of palate start to degenerate. He has had angioplasty also, but that will not affect bone health or dental health, rather due to dietary care, he would be better off about his bone health but I would not suggest implant at 70+, specially when we have good dentures that help the person eat & feel good during the day & needs removal at night.

Your teeth are sensitive. Avoid citrus fruits like oranges, lemon etc. and use sensitive tooth paste. Apply and leave for 2-3 mins on tooth brush then gentle brushing and slowly slowly you will be fine.
