have red eyes since last week what can I do for better eyes? Please say proper guidance.
Eyes appear red because the vessels at the surface of the white portion of the eye (sclera) become swollen. Vessels may swell due to: • Eye dryness • Too much sun exposure • Dust or other particles in the eye • Allergies • Infection • Injury Eye infections or inflammation can cause redness as well as possible itching, discharge, pain, or vision problems. These may be due to: • Blepharitis: Swelling along the edge of the eyelid. • Conjunctivitis: Swelling or infection of the clear tissue that lines the eyelids and covers the surface of the eye (the conjunctiva). This is often referred to as "pink eye." • Corneal ulcers: Sores on the cornea most often caused by a serious bacterial or viral infection. • Uveitis: Inflammation of the uvea, which includes the iris, ciliary body, and choroid. The cause is most often not known. It may be related to an autoimmune disorder, infection, or exposure to toxins. The type of uveitis that causes the worst red eye is called iritis, in which only the iris is inflamed. Other potential causes of eye redness include: • Colds or allergies . • Acute glaucoma: A sudden increase in eye pressure that is extremely painful and causes serious visual problems. This is a medical emergency. The more common form of glaucoma is chronic and gradual. • Corneal scratches: Injuries caused by sand, dust, or overuse of contact lenses. Sometimes, a bright red spot, called a subconjunctival hemorrhage, will appear on the white of the eye. This often happens after straining or coughing, which causes a broken blood vessel on the surface of the eye. Most often, there is no pain and your vision is normal. It is almost never a serious problem. Because the blood leaks into the conjunctiva, which is clear, you cannot wipe or rinse the blood away. Like a bruise, the red spot will go away within a week or two. So,visit a local eyespecialist. The diagnosis of your problem in eyes can only be made by local examination of eyes

Hi I am 25 year old female, working in Mnc 9 to 6 timings, I feel I have high bp, because I am constantly being angry on every other person. Please suggest me. Do I need to see a doctor?

Hi I am 25 year old female, working in Mnc 9 to 6 timings, I feel I have high bp, because I am constantly being angry...
Hello lybrate-user, it seems your are doing a lot of work. Working time also is more. Seems like you don't get much time for your self. Work load seems to be more than you can handle. Coming back to anger management. People don't know what you are going through. And it's not their fault that you are working so much. You have to take care of your self and your health. Anger mostly arises from some deficiency of and not others. You have to learn to handle stuff and people. Regarding your bp you should definitely visit a doctor and get it checked. The body has the tendency to adjust to your stress. But if your stress level increase to such a level that the body cannot adjust anymore more and starts giving signals in the from of bp, diabetes, headaches, neck pain, shoulder pain, stiffness etc. That the time one should understand that it's time to change our lifestyle and eventually our thoughts. Tc.

My 10 years old son has some problems in his eyes. When he focuses, his right eye goes outward. It doesn't tune with the left eye. I had taken him to the eye specialist and they advised the both eye surgery. I wish to know that is surgery is the last option and why of both eyes whereas the problem is with right eye?

MD - Ophthalmology, MBBS, Fellowship in Vitreo Retina, Fellowship in Cornea and Anterior Segment
Ophthalmologist, Bangalore
Surgery on both eyes is suggested to balance the muscle adjustments equally between two eyes. You could opt for One eye too, discuss with your dr. Surgery is desirable for intermittent squints.

The solution for this problem is its reduced usage and while using computor use in proper light. There is nothing more effective than controlling usage to reduce and negate the effects. You can also reduce the intensity of the computor screen by attaching a filter or by getting an eye-friendly screen. Above all, one must try to reduce the amount of computor usage or take frequent breaks. Make sure that the lightening in room is proper and you are at least at a distance of 10 feet from tv.

Hello. This itching is not related to your cataract surgery. This is due to allergt to dust. This is very common. There is no permanent treatment. Precautions include. Avoid dust. Wear goggles. Avoid rubbing. Do cold compresses and use anti allergic eyedrop.

Lazy Eye or Amblyopia - Symptoms and Cure

M.S., MBBS
Ophthalmologist, Delhi
Lazy Eye or Amblyopia - Symptoms and Cure

Amblyopia or Lazy eye is the eye condition in which vision is reduced and cannot be corrected with glasses or contact lenses. All the images seen by the amblyopic eye are not fully acknowledged by the brain. It always affects only one eye, but may be accompanied with reduction of vision in both eyes. It can cause loss of vision, including loss of depth perception and two-eyed 3D vision. It's treatment can yield improvements at any age, but early detection can offer the best chances for a cure. Recent research has proven that lazy eye treatment can be successful in older children and adults. Comprehensive vision examinations are required for infants, toddlers, and pre-school children for the detection of lazy eye or amblyopia.

When the brain parts related with visual processing do not function properly, problems arise with such visual functions as the perception of movement, depth perception and fine detail (acuity, clear eyesight and sharp vision). Amblyopia is the most prevalent neurological defect of vision in children and adults resulting from developmental problems in the brain. Any interference with clear vision in either eye during the first six years or 'critical' period of visual and brain development can cause a lazy eye.

Constant strabismus or the constant turn of one eye in any direction, be it inward turn or crossed eye is one of common causes of amblyopia. The differences in vision or it's prescription between the two eyes leads to refractive amblyopia. Sometimes congenital disorders or a physical blockage of an eye due to trauma, drooping lids, cataract or a blocked tear duct can also lead to amblyopia. Many parents and children are not aware of any symptoms, as amblyopia usually occurs in one eye only and a lazy eye condition can exist without a noticeable eye turn. The visual acuity tests in addition to the 20/20 eye test charts and eye examination with cycloplegic drops by ophthalmologists are necessary to detect lazy eye.

Vision therapy for the eyes and brain is a highly effective non-surgical treatment for lazy eye. It is a progressive program of vision exercises customized to fit the visual needs of each patient. It is conducted at the clinic and occasionally supplemented with exercises to be done at home or workplace. It improve visual comfort, ease, and efficiency and change how a patient processes or interprets visual information. When considering treatment options, it is important to understand that lazy eye results from neurological deficit or problems in the brain and surgery for lazy eye is performed on the muscles on the outside of the eye. Most of the cases, lazy eye surgery provides cosmetic benefits and does not improve the patient's vision, hence options for vision improvement should be exhausted before eye muscle surgery is considered.

What is the best treatment for dry eyes. What should be used to avoid eye irritation.

What is the best treatment for dry eyes. What should be used to avoid eye irritation.
Hi, give sufficient rest to your eyes with proper sleep. Keep yourself hydrated with intake of 10-12 glasses of water in a day. Eat healthy especially vitamin a rich food (green vegetables, carrots, yellow fruits and vegetables) and avoid junk food. Hold tap water in your flexed palm, dip your one eye closer to the water level, shut and open your eyelids often. Do the same with your other eye. Repeat this whole process 1-2 times more in a day. Give your eyes proper rest. Can keep slices of cucumber or potato or used tea bags over the closed eyes for sometime. Medication: instill 2 drops of euphrasia eye drops in each eye twice daily.

Nevus of Ota may also be associated with hyperpigmentation of internal eye which may predispose u to develop glaucoma now or later. will strongly recommend u to have regular eye examination and eye pressure checkup - at ur age once every 1-2 years should be fine unless u have some other risk factors.

I am diagnosed with blood vessels in cornea about 5 days ago I am daily wearing contact lens since 20 years ago please suggest me further treatment

Phaco Development Program, Fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology, DNB Ophtalmology, MBBS
Ophthalmologist, Mysore
Confirm that the contact lens you are using is not tight for you. If they are tight fitting then ask your doctor to give you better fitting ones. Do not wear lenses for more than 6-8 hours a day. Use some preservative free lubricating eye drops (preferably those which come in unims) 3-4 times/day (they can be used over contact lenses too). Use contact lenses with high oxygen permeability and use monthly disposable lenses or daily disposable lenses. Get your eye checked frequently and if the vessels are growing then you may need to stop using lenses for few months.

Dear lybrate user, red eyes could be because of many reasons but commonly it is due to allergy or infection. You need to visit eye specialist to differentiate between the two as the treatment is different. Also get your eyes checked for any glass power.

I have pain in backbone and like some times my eye was produces heat automatically.

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
I have pain in backbone and like some times my eye was produces heat automatically.
Hello. Maintain a right standing and sitting posture, keep your back always straight, avoid carrying weight on back. Hold or carry weight divided equally in both the hands or shoulders (to avoid over straining on one particular hand or shoulder). (Excessive sitting or standing is to be avoided as well don’t carry much weight on shoulders). Exercise: Practice Shavasana or Corpse Pose as it looks like a dead body. If practiced correctly and with full efforts, can relax every body part, relaxing not only the body but also the mind: Spread the legs one to two feet apart, the toes are turned outwards, the heels facing each other, a comfortable distance apart. Bring the arms a little away from the body, palms turned upward. Relax the neck and allow it to turn to the side if it is more comfortable. Close the eyes and focus the attention on the body, breathing normally. Begin focusing each body part and relaxing it, then moving on. Keep the mind focused on relaxation, the breath should be normal. Relax the whole body. Management: -Stretching or activities that place additional strain on the back are discouraged. -Sleeping with a pillow between the knees while lying on one side may increase comfort. -Lying on your back with a pillow under your knees would also relieves pain and no pillow under your head. -Some people seem to benefit from the use of ice or heat. Take care, do not use a heating pad on ‘high’ or place ice directly on the skin. Medication: Take homoeopathic medicines - Arnica 200 and Rhus Tox. 200 - take both of them thrice daily for 1 week. Also, apply Schwabe's Topi-Arnica and Topi MP Gel on the affected area in circular motions gently thrice a day. Get back to me thereafter.
