Best exercises for knee pain dear you can do it, except where stated, do 10 to 12 repetitions of each of the following, 2 or 3 times a week. Partial squats e pain. Stand about 12 inches away from the front of a chair with your feet about hip-width apart and your toes forward. Bending at the hips, slowly lower yourself halfway down to the chair. Keside-lying leg lifts wearing ankle weights above the knee, lie on your left side, legs straight and together, with your left arm supporting your head. Keeping your right foot flexed and your body straight, slowly lift your right leg to about shoulder height, then slowly lower. Repeat with your left legep your abs tight, asusing an aerobic step bench or a staircase, step up onto the step with your right foot. Tap your left foot on the top of the step, and then lower. As you step up, your knee should be directly over your ankle. Repeat with your left foot. Tep-upsnd check that your knees stay behind your toes. Inner-thigh leg lifts wearing ankle weights above the knee, lie on your left side, slightly back on your butt. Bend your right leg and place it behind your left leg with your right foot flat on the floor and your left leg straight. Support your head with your left arm. Slowly lift your left leg about 3 to 5 inches, then lower. Repeat with your right leg straight-leg raises sit with your back against a wall, left leg straight and right leg bent with your foot flat on the floor. Slowly raise your left leg straight up about 12 inches off the floor. Hold, then slowly lower. Repeat with your right leg. More: 4 treats you can make with protein powder calf rais using a chair or wall for balance, stand with your feet about hip-width apart, toes straight ahead. Slowly lift your heels off the floor, rising up onto your toes. Hold, then slowly lower. Es I ho -water is the best way to keep yourself hydrated always carry a bottle of water and keep sipping on it at regular intervals - add an extra cup of fluid to your diet by sipping on green tea or herbal tea it instantly makes you brisk - if you the gym daily make sure to have sports drink. They contain electrolytes and 6 to 8 percent carbohydrates - avoid alcohol in summer as it is extremely dehydrating. Substitute fluids like milk juices tea and coffee instead - it is the season of tender coconuts and watermelons - after each trip to the restroom refuel with a glass of water - one of the first sign of dehydration is a dry mouth. Quick water breaks is a good way, you will fit & fine.

Hi I 'm 33 years old male from last 3-4 months initial had been facing issue related to muscular pain in legs + upper/middle back pain (spine)- also experienced pain when trying to move/raise leg specifically in morning, slowly and slowly with time, medicines (pain-killers for muscular pain etc.) and few back exercises, it went away- however few issues still remain and have increased as such over time :- 1.Whenever I go to washroom and sit down (without any support as such) continuously for 1-2 mins or more. , I start feeling pressure on the toes and extreme numbness/tingling sort of appears which lasts for 3-4 mins. After I get up from that position -as soon as I get up, I feel pain on little bit below the left side of the knee (of the right leg) and pressure on the middle chest-position (food pipe) - earlier ,when I used to get up from the position , the pain occurred on the middle back side but after few back exercises+ medicines ,it switched to almost the knee portion and it occurs on a daily basis. I had gone for all types of tests blood sugar, TSH,TLC, DLC,SGOT, SGPT,AEC, CBC,cholesterol etc. All fine but seems RBC count is increasing over the last 2 tests I had undergone in the last 8 weeks or so 1st test count was 5.7 million/cumm 2nd test it showing 6.0 million/cumm haemoglobin increased from 14.3 gm% to 15.1% (though within normal limits as per report) MCH and MCV slightly lower values than normal 2.I feel a lot of wrinkles appearing along with numbness on both my hands - 2-3 months before, when I used to keep the legs straight onto table or bed while sitting in the chair (table/bed at slightly higher position than the chair) and watching something/working with laptop etc. , numbness on legs and hands used to appear and last till I get up and walk around for 4-5 mins. Now for last 10-15 days, I used to suddenly have a lot of wrinkles/some type of numbness along with dryness on fingers of both the hands , palms become reddish at that moment with a large no of wrinkles appearing though I can work but still uncomfortable until they are gone after 10-15 mins or so . 3.Still pain appears on extreme lower back position specifically when I sit for 30-1 hr. In car/office etc. So is it all related to spine or is something related to blood cells which is causing all this trouble for last 3-4 months ? Could you please guide me on these issues and let me know the resolution for the same - any tests, specific type of exercises etc.

Apply hot fomentation twice daily. Avoid bending in front. Postural correction- sit tall, walk tall. Extension exercises x 15 times x twice daily - lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times. Bhujang asana -- lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily. Core strengthening exercises- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day.

Dear doctors, I am 33 years old and having a problem of gas releasing through mounth in the morning while wake up. Also it continues full day. I have this problem last two years. I have back pain problem. Is this two are related with each? can you suggest a way to solve it ?

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. For your problems of gas, it will be appropriate for you to get in touch of a gastroenterologist for an opinion and relevant investigations. If you have localized back pain with no other symptoms like radiating leg pain, neurological symptoms like numbness, weakness, paresthesias etc, then you can start with following recommendations for initial period of 2-3 weeks: - to maintain proper posture while working and sleeping - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication which suits you - physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - ice packs can applied if your pain is acute, then hot fomentation can be done at home - analgesic spray for local application can be used and is easily available. - avoid lifting heavyweight/ acute forward bending in mornings etc in case you are having back pain. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance.

Try this for joint pains try this. Identify the mid point between the ankle bone and tendons and give pressure with a blunt edge on either side of your foot for 2 minutes. Also give pressure in the web between 2nd and 3rd finger from your toe for 2 minutes. Finally give a good massage for both feet in hot water. Identify the dipping portion on the back of your knee folding. Press this dip with both middle fingers and hold your knee with your thumbs for support. Please swing 20 times morning and evenings. This will relieve your problem. Consult after 10 days.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. You appear to be a very determined to be bride. Anyway what I understand from your history is that you have 2 issues: one is leg pain and other is belly fat. Your leg pain started because your leg muscles are not used to this kind of load. Normally you should always start with less and increase it gradually over a period of time with regular muscle strengthening. Also you need to do a pre-exercise regime wherein you stretch your muscles and do a light warm up before actually starting to run. Normally it builds up over a period of time, but process has to be a slow and a steady one. Now since you have pain: please start with ice packs, limb elevation, restriction of your physical activity tom as much as possible, gentle otc anti-inflammatory as per your suitability. Your pain should settle in about 5-7 days time. Your weight in any case is not much, so do not worry about burning those extra calories please. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. Thanks & regards Dr. Akshay kumar saxena Consultant orthopaedics fortis hospital, new delhi.

I'm having lower back pain since last 2 months. My body type is slim and I have some fat on the tummy. The lower back pain subsides to 90% after bowel movements. I don't have constipation at all and drink avg 10 to 12 glass of luke warm water everyday. I have to go 4 to 5 times daily for bowel movements. My blood reports are all normal and uric acid is 6.5. So my doctor has advised me zyloric 100 mg 2 times daily. I have been taking it for last 10 days but no improvement. It is not due to less physical exercise or any heavy exercise. It's not muscular. I'm teetotaller and vegetarian. Please advise.

Hi, Limit sugary foods/sweetened foods Overindulging in these foods can lead to weight gain and obesity. Additionally, sugary foods, drinks and snacks often contain fructose or what might be labelled as high-fructose corn syrup/glucose-fructose syrup. A high intake of fructose can increase uric acid levels in the blood and may increase insulin resistance As well as biscuits, cakes, sweets, fruit juices and sugary drinks, high-fructose corn syrup can be found in unexpected foods. These include: Bread Yoghurts Frozen pizzas Cereals and cereal bars Jarred sauces Some condiments such as jams, ketchup, mayonnaise or salad dressings Plenty of fruits and vegetables, plenty bof starchy charbohydrate Some meat, fish, eggs, beans and pulses Eat these foods in moderation. Having vitamin C with meals can help to improve the absorption of iron, so drink a small glass of orange juice, have a piece of fruit for dessert, or serve up meals with plenty of vegetables Some milk and dairy products Including low-fat dairy products (such as skimmed milk, low-fat yoghurt, and low-fat cottage cheese) may help to prevent high levels of uric acid in the blood.

Dry Cloth indirect heat will help you a lot, otherwise best thing is apply paste of roasted Jeera (Cumin seeds)+ Haldi (Turmeric Powder) along with Heeng (asoefetida) all mixed with ghee. And cover it with a cloth for 1-2 hrs.
