I regularly going to gym for two years. Recently I have very high pain in the back .i can not sit .what do I do.
Backache in young age is commonly due to 1. Muscle strain resulting from improper posture during gym or daily activities. 2. Intervertebral disc bulge or prolapse. Follow these to get relief. 1. Take anti inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen round the clock for 5 days for pain relief. 2. Take rest for 3 to 4 days but avoid total bed rest. 4. Do back strengthening and stretching exercises daily once pain is relieved. 5. Apply analgesic cream over back followed by warm fomentation. 6. Keep pillow behind your knees at bedtime. While sleeping on sides keep pillow between knees. 7. Do not bend and lift weights. 8. If back pain is accompanied with radiating leg pain or tingling, numbness or weakness, consult immediately don't worry such backache resolves with proper care as advised above. For further queries consult again.

Can I experience PMS and still be pregnant. Is pregnancy possible? I have been experiencing lower back and leg pain.
Hello, Both PMS and early pregnancy symptoms are more or less similar and overlap. So the best way to rule out pregnancy in such cases is to opt for a serum beta hcg test and if the hcg levels are more than 5ng/dl then you are pregnant.

I am 71 yrs 5ft 8 in weight 90 kg am suffering from diabetic for last 5 yrs lately I find that sole of both my feet become numb when I get up in the morning and also my right heel is very painful please advice what I should do ?

Dip. SICOT (Belgium), MNAMS, DNB (Orthopedics), MBBS
Orthopedist, Delhi
Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. Your symptoms of numbness could be due to long standing diabetes in your case although other causes cannot be ruled out especially issues in lower back region. I would advise you for a very strict sugar control, you can take medications like pregabalin or gabapentin in low doses initially, take vitamin b12 and adequate calcium and vitamin d supplementation. Also heel pain could be due to inflammation in your heel fascia. Treatment modalities are aimed at relieving inflammation of the fascia, like ice packs, physical therapy, footwear modification and anti-inflammatory therapy. I will observe you with this management for around 2 weeks and then we will see if we require any investigations in your case. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance.

My mom is 57 years old .on his right leg has fractured tibia and fibula now she is fine now the broken bone has healed but now because she doesn't make movement she has now blocked knee and ankle so what she can do for the blocked knee and ankle for realising it easy and fast please ask something please.

BPTh/BPT
Physiotherapist, Bangalore
Dear lybrate-user, There is usually stiffness that gets developed after any fracture as the patient does not move much. Prolonged immobilisation causes stiffness in the joints. It is utmost necessity that you should meet a Physiotherapist who would assess your mother's problem in detail and prescribe you a course of Physiotherapy which would involve mobilisation of the stiffened joint and exercises would be prescribed accordingly. The more you delay the stiffness develops faster. Wishing your mother good health and a speedy recovery.
