Masturbation - Masturbation is in-built in men and women practice it coyly. But you can’t escape masturbation, it is part of life. There are certain facts and rumours in-relation to masturbation that you cannot avoid. We break the ice on this taboo topic Masturbation has positive side effects that you will agree too: - Relief through ejaculation - Climax for fun and pleasure - Induces sleep - Relaxes you - Eases tension It is important to be gentle on your genitals to avoid sores and help you get back to normalcy. There are few negative effects of masturbation, these are: - Masturbation lowers sperm count, reduces your chance of conceiving. - Frequent masturbation will take longer to satisfy you and for you to ejaculate. Space it out. - If your hands are rough, your genitals will have scratches. - Vigourous movements will cause swelling too. - Social stigma on the act of masturbation can lower your morale. Myths on masturbation: - You will not grow hairy palms when you masturbate. - Nor will you develop acne for masturbation. - There is lack of evidence that regular ejaculation will affect your erection. Some of the after-effects of masturbation are : The nervous system is affected the most. Besides the heart, the digestive system, the urinary system as well as the other systems are adversely affected and consequently the whole body becomes the museum of diseases with profound weakness. The eyes become sunken, the cheek bones protrude and there is a black rim round the eyes. Continuous headache and backache. Dizziness and loss of memory. Palpitation of heart on lightest exertion. Nervousness. Unable to perform any heavy physical or mental work. The person dislikes any company and activities and rather likes to sit in seclusion and suffers from weakness. General Physician,
You seem to be bothered with allergic sinusitis. All of the allergies, what is done, is avoid direct contact with the allergen. As a routine we doctors do prescribe antihistamincs and/or steroids in the form of oral, local. And injectable medicines. Allergy tests are available and after finding the specific antigen, desensitization also can be done. Hope you are helped. Regards.

Please rest also along with your studies. Take lots of fluids, keep your self hydrated and relaxed. I know it's tough during exam time. Eat light balanced food. Don't take too much caffeine. Have chamomile tea if you like the taste. 8 hours is important for the body to rest, but try to take a nap whenever possible.

Know More About Ringworm

BHMS
Homeopath, Ahmedabad

Ringworm, also known as dermatophytosis or tinea, is a fungal infection of the skin. The name “ringworm” is a misnomer, since the infection is caused by a fungus, not a worm.

Ringworm infection can affect both humans and animals. The infection initially presents with red patches on affected areas of the skin and later spreads to other parts of the body. The infection may affect the skin of the scalp, feet, groin, beard, or other areas.

Recognizing ringworm

Symptoms vary depending on where you’re infected. With a skin infection, you may experience the following:

  • red, itchy, scaly, or raised patches

  • patches that develop blisters or begin to ooze

  • patches that may be redder on the outside edges or resemble a ring

  • patches with edges that are defined and raised

If you’re experiencing dermatophytosis in your nails, they may become thicker or discolored, or they may begin to crack. If the scalp is affected, the hair around it may break or fall off, and bald patches may develop.

Types of ringworm

Ringworm can go by different names depending on the part of the body affected.

  • Ringworm of the scalp (tinea capitis) often starts as small sores that develop into itchy, scaly bald patches. It is most common among children.

  • Ringworm of the body (tinea corporis) often appears as patches with the characteristic round “ring” shape.

  • Jock itch (tinea cruris) refers to ringworm infection of the skin around the groin, inner thighs, and buttocks. It is most common in men and adolescent boys.

  • Athlete’s foot (tinea pedis) is the common name for ringworm infection of the foot. It is frequently seen in people who go barefoot in public places where the infection can spread, such as locker rooms, showers, and swimming pools.

Who is at risk for ringworm?

Anyone can develop ringworm. However, the infection is very common among children and people who own pet cats. Both cats and dogs can catch ringworm and then pass it on to humans who touch them. Signs to be aware of in pets include:

  • hairless patches of skin that appear circular

  • crusty or scaly patches

  • patches that may not be completely hairless but have brittle or broken hairs

  • opaque or whitish areas around the claws

You may be more likely to develop dermatophytosis if you come into contact with the fungi while you’re wet or if you have minor skin injuries or abrasions. Using a public shower or public pool areas may also expose you to the infective fungi.

If you’re often barefoot, you may develop ringworm of the feet (athlete’s foot). Those who often share items such as hairbrushes or unwashed clothing also have an increased risk of developing the infection.

Home care

In addition to prescription and over-the-counter medication, your doctor may recommend that you care for your infection at home by practicing some of the following behaviors:

  • avoid clothing that irritates the infected area

  • cover it with a bandage if you’re unable to avoid clothing that irritates the area

  • wash bedding and clothes daily during an infection to help disinfect your surroundings

  • clean and dry your skin regularly

If you’ve been scratching your skin frequently due to the infection, you may also develop a staph or strep infection of the skin.

Bipolar Disorder - Signs You Are Suffering From It!

Bipolar Disorder - Signs You Are Suffering From It!

Bipolar disorder is a condition where the patient may go through certain periods of extreme happiness and joy which is known as mania. On the other hand, there may be other periods where the patient may be extremely sad and depressed and even suicidal.

In some individuals, these phases may last quite long whereas, in others, they may change very quickly. However, there are certain common symptoms displayed by patients with bipolar disorder. Let's look at a few of them.

  • Feeling extremely happy, to the point of being careless - Certain patients, at the onset of bipolar disorder, will feel extremely happy and have their sense of judgment hampered. When patients feel very elated without proper context, or for very small reasons, it could be an indication that the person is experiencing mania.
  • Feeling extremely depressed - Similarly, on the other end of the spectrum, if a person feels extremely depressed without an appropriate reason, it may be due to bipolar disorder. Also, the severity of depression and the length of time for which a person experiences it is also an indicator of the condition.
  • Lack of interest in activities which formerly interested you - You may suddenly lose interest in an activity that genuinely interested you earlier. This may include your profession or hobbies.
  • Loss of appetite during the depression phases - During the phases of depression or sadness, which may sometimes last for months, a person may rapidly lose weight due to lack of interest in food. Even for patients who have shorter cycles of changes lasting for only a few weeks, this will be noticeable.
  • Extreme restlessness and lack of sleep during the manic phases - When the person enters a manic or happy cycle, it may trigger over enthusiasm, restlessness and lack of sleep. This, like the depression phase, will also vary from patient to patient and may continue for the entire duration of the phase. A jump from a depression cycle into this phase will be definitely noticed by others.

If a few of these symptoms are detected, then the patient should be taken to a mental health professional for appropriate treatment as soon as possible. Consult an Expert & get answers to your questions!
