Hello, It's very normal to get periods for 4-5 days. For stomachache, here are some tips to help you get rid of problems: It is good to avoid fried, sour and protein rich foods in the last week of the menstrual cycle. Eat fish as it contains omega-3 fatty acids, which helps in easing contractions during menstruation Avoid eating dairy products, meat and poultry Maintain healthy and nutritious diet and perform yoga to help you stay away from problems If you are suffering from anemia, you should take food rich in iron Avoid vegetables like potato, eggplant, yellow pumpkin and try to concentrate on consuming drumsticks, papaya, white pumpkin, snake guard, cucumber and bitter guard When you experience pain, you can help reduce the pain by giving the area hot treatment. Drinking plenty of water and herbal tea also helps reduce pain and problems faced during menstrual periods. You can also perform yoga and some cardiovascular exercises that will help you get rid of these cramps. Last but not the least; take as much rest as possible. This will help you keep your menstruation under control. Medication: Take Schwabe’s Mag. Phos. 6x/ 5 tablets to be dissolved in ½ cup of water after every 2 hrly. till the pain lasts.

You can have sex during periods --if you and she are comfortable with it. Ocassionally blood can irritate your penis. During periods women can catch any infection fast. If you use condom at sex during periods it is more safe.

Is it safe to have sex within 5 days after the period is over without worrying about being conceiving?

MBBS
General Physician, Patiala
Hello this can not be generalised, instead it depends on case to case. We need to know approximate maximum and minimum duration of your menstrual cycles (for eg. 30$28, 28&24, or if they are regular 28&28, 26&26, etc) and also number of days of menstrual bleeding. Only then we could comment on the possibilities of the safe period. [ if suppose your cycles are regular of 28 days with 3/4 days of menstrual bleeding then the possibility of conception 4-5 days after bleeding is over is very low, but more than 6-7 days could be risky.]

If you r of 19 years age then a nodule in breast most probably is gynecomastia. You may get a fnac done of that nodule to confirm the diagnosis. If it is indeed gynecomastia then no need to worry about although for cosmetic reasons it may be removed surgically.

Neural Mechanism of Sex
Neural mechanism of sex

The sex center is in the limbic system near hypothalamus in the brain. The brain receives sensory signals and transmits messages to the muscles and blood vessels.
The sensory pathways especially from the five special senses- touch, sight, hearing, smell and taste - play an important role in the sexual arousal.

Sex is an art or game where practice and childishness help a lot says Dr. Vaibhav Lunkad

Lots of men think that women are interested in only size and timing (Just as Pak is India-centric,men are just penicentric). This increases fear of performance and hence ED or Premature ejaculation has become so common. Women are interested more in foreplay or romance and also caring, love talk or patting and fun. Sex should happen and it is not something to be done. Also men unnnecessarily hit the gym in toning and weight gain which further decreases the flexibililty. Copying the porn with oral or kissing further increases the over-excitability and ED. Smoking, tobacco or alcohol or excess beverages or spices also causes severe ED or PE. So just sit with a sexologist and change your life by understanding the art and game of sex, says eminent sexologist of India, Dr Vaibhav Lunkad

Ususally some viruses, bacteria and fungi harbor even healthy vagina and is not uncommon to get mild oral infection. It will remit by itself dont worry. Do salt water gurgling for speedy recovery. If it persists consult a doctor. All the best

Hi i am 23 I have Pcos and last in 2014 December I conceived via hmg amd hcg shots but later during 7th month lost my pregnancy due to IUGR. Also I am having thyroid (normal now) Again I am trying to conceive. My doctor gave me clomifene citrate from day 3 to 7. Hmg injections on day 3 and 5. On day 11 I was having a 16mm follicle in right ovary and 19mm ovulated follicle in left. (Ovulation occurred from left ovary without hcg) I want to know if 16mm follicle will rupture at the same time or within 24hrs of each other? My doctor said there are chances of 16mm follicle to rupture till next day. Is it possible?

MBBS, DGO, MD, Fellowship in Gynae Oncology
Gynaecologist, Delhi
Exactly it cannot be said that when it will rupture, it is possible that it may rupture the next day or on the same day. But in both the cases there are chances of pregnancy so you need not to worry for that. If you are going for iui then do it twice for consecutive days, or going for natural then then regular intercourse for 3-4 days.

Tobacco - 7 Ways it Affects Your Dental Health

BDS, MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Advanced course in maxillofacial sugery

Tobacco - 7 Ways it Affects Your Dental Health

Tobacco has many ill effects on the health and dental health is one of them. From dark stains to poor gum health to increased incidence of decay to the more severe oral cancer, tobacco has a very detrimental effect on your dental health. Read on know more about how harmful tobacco can be on the dental system.

  1. Brown teeth and tongue: One of the tell-tale signs of a smoker are the brown teeth and stained tongue. A dentist need not even be told that the person smokes, it just shows!! What is interesting is that these stains do not go away with a scaling, they just continue to form as long as tobacco is being put into the system.
  2. Gum disease: The oral health of a smoker is definitely not at its best. With the stains on the teeth, the gums are more prone for irritation and infection. This leads to grayish, unhealthy gums. The periodontal fibers are also affected, leading to bad breath, pocket formation and even tooth mobility in severe cases. The mouth is generally drier in comparison and so bacterial growth is more favored, further accelerating the process of gum disease and teeth decay.
  3. Dental caries: The increased amount of bacteria leads to greater incidence of dental decay. Chances of cervical decay (around the gum line) and root decay are higher in smokers.
  4. Bad breath: There are two reasons to it one is the tobacco per se and the second is the dry mouth, which leads to reduced saliva and increased bacterial growth.
  5. Impaired taste: The tongue has a constant coating too, leaving the taste buds unable to completely taste food substances. Ask any smoker a couple of questions and you would realize how they never get to enjoy and taste the food as it should be.
  6. Poor healing: Whether it is a gum disease, a tooth removal or a root canal therapy, smokers who go for dental treatment need a longer time to respond compared to nonsmokers. If smoking is continued at the same pace, then the chances of developing a dry socket with an extraction or a failed root canal therapy are quite high. There are more failures reported in success of implant in smokers as compared to non smokers.
  7. Cancer: The most dangerous and the most severe of all, cancer of the cheek, gums, lips, tongue, roof of the mouth can all happen in smokers, twice more likely in comparison with non-smokers.

Now, if all these are not good enough to kick the habit, remember this list is only for the mouth and the teeth. The whole body goes through a lot more harmful effects, and that should be a good reason to quit tobacco use in any form. If you need professional help, do not be embarrassed to seek.

Hello lybrate-user, its true that when we use condoms pleasure reduce, because normal condoms has thick skin, thats why we don't feel hottness of vagina, use durex condom which launched recently in india, its a very thin condom that make us feel real, alternatively use vesline. Apply vesline in vagina then start your intercourse.

I hd sex just before 1 day of my menstruation. Ejaculation was outside the vagina. Is there any chance of pregnancy?

I hd sex just before 1 day of my menstruation. Ejaculation was outside the vagina. Is there any chance of pregnancy?
Hi, I understand your query. Since your intercourse happened during a very safe period and then too ejacuation was outside I suggest you need not worry about pregnancy. More over since you have already had your periods pregnancy can be safely ruled out. But I recommend that for future you use some kind of contraceptive even during the safe time. Hope this information has put your doubts to rest. All the best.

I had intercourse with my boyfriend. I am 18 yrs old. The first day it was for 15 seconds and the second day only for 30seconds. 1st day it started bleeding and there was pain in stomach but I took unwanted 72 pill the second day only. Is there still chance to get pregnant?

There are many reasons why a woman may bleed after sex. The medical name for this is" postcoital bleeding. Bleeding after sex can be a sign of a health condition, such as: an infection, such as pelvic inflammatory disease (pid), or a sexually transmitted infection (sti), such as chlamydia vaginal dryness (atrophic vaginitis) caused by reduced vaginal secretions after the menopause damage to the vagina such as tears caused by childbirth, or by dryness or friction during sex cervical or endometrial polyps (benign or non-cancerous growths in the womb or the lining of the cervix) cervical ectropion (also known as cervical erosion), where there is an inflamed area on the surface of the cervix. Anytime you experience bleeding during or after vaginal sex when you are not menstruating, it's important to visit your doctor or health care provider to determine the cause. Getting an accurate diagnosis is critical. Even if the bleeding is due to something minor, it? s most likely treatable and better for your peace of mind.

DIET FOR MENSES
Normal menstrual cycles range from every 21 to 35 days, according to the Cleveland Clinic, and most women's periods last four to seven days. Unusually short, lengthy, light, heavy, frequent, infrequent or painful periods can derive from stress, dieting, birth control pills and medical conditions, such as fibroids, polycystic ovary syndrome, endometriosis and, less frequently, cancer. Overexercise and low body weight can cause your cycle to stop altogether. In addition to seeking any necessary medical treatment, emphasize certain foods within a healthy diet to help regulate your cycle.

Whole Grains
Whole grains provide valuable amounts of fiber, protein and B vitamins -- nutrients that improve hormonal balance and reduce symptoms of heavy menstruation, according to Dr. Christiane Northrup, a physician and women's health expert. High-glycemic carbohydrate sources, such as white bread and sweets, on the other hand, can worsen your symptoms. They can also impede blood sugar control, interfering with positive energy levels and moods. Limit these foods and emphasize hearty whole grains, such as quinoa, barley, brown rice, oats and popcorn, instead.

Oily fish, such as salmon, mackerel, lake trout and herring, provide rich amounts of protein and healthy fats, which are also important for hormonal balance and normalized menstruation, says Northrup. As top sources of omega-3 fats, oily fish reduce inflammation, which plays a role in pain and bloating, and may help minimize menstrual cramps. For best results, replace protein sources rich in saturated fat, such as red meat, dark-meat poultry and cheeses, with baked, grilled or steamed fish. Saturated fats increase inflammation

Flaxseeds for Fiber
(also u can take flax oil of vestige)
Flaxseeds are top plant sources of omega-3 fats and valuable sources of fiber. They also contain lignans -- natural compounds that can help balance hormones, including estrogen, according to a "Nutrition & Food Sciences" report published in 2012. Add ground flaxseed to other healthy foods, such as smoothies or whole-grain muffins, or have flaxseed flakes for a breakfast rich in omega-3s, fiber and protein. Fortified cereals also supply iron, which is important to replenish if you've experienced heavy menstrual bleeding. Your body loses iron through blood, which can lead to anemia.

Fruits and Vegetables
Getting plenty of the antioxidants, vitamin C and beta-carotene is also important for improved hormonal balance and menstrual health, says Northrup. Fruits and vegetables provide significant amounts of both nutrients, along with fiber. Avoid fruit juices and fruits with added sweeteners, which have a high glycemic index. Instead, opt for fresh or frozen, unsweetened fruits and vegetables. For beta-carotene, eat sweet potatoes, carrots, cantaloupe, mango and sweet peppers. Top vitamin C sources include red bell peppers, citrus fruits, broccoli, strawberries and brussels sprouts.

THIS TIP ALONG WITH PROPER HOMEOPATHIC REMEDIES CAN HELP BETTER FOR MENSTRUAL COMPLAINTS.

Irregular cycles or excessive flow during cycles is a common problem seen in a large number of females. Hormonal abnormalities are the most common cause of irregular and heavy menstrual flow. Thus, you need to consult your primary healthcare provider for clinical assessment and endometrial biopsy/ curretings for diagnosis of the condition and thus treatment.

Dear Lybrate user. This is normal. The liquids which are coming from vagina enhances the sexual experience because they improve the orgasmic touch and they provide lubrication. They are healthy too. It will take time to find the exact position and to have the proper orgasm. Take care.
