Im 45 years, in march I got detected for Melasma, pigmentation on the skin, cheeks in the face. Using Go lite night cream, morning banana, trenaxa tablet- 500 mg OD, now started laser therapy- 2 sittings. But black areas are still visible. Also trying homeopathy. Pl advice.

MBBS, Diploma in Venerology & Dermatology (DVD)
Dermatologist, Thane
Take Vitamin C tablets daily. Also use some kind of sun protection like umbrella always because sun exposure can worsen the pigmentation. You are on the right treatment but melasma treatment takes time and you need to have patience.

Avoid fluoridated toothpastes.make sure this area isn't smeared with cosmetics.if u have hair in this region u can have a pigmentation because of that too.stay away from bleaching agents and dyes in this region.Mix a tsp each of honey, curd, papaya and aloe, apply it on face for ten minutes and wash off without soap.if u r on medications like steroids ,u can have pigmentation here too.make sure to use a sunscreen for ur face,it'll protect from darkening.

How to remove blackheads frm my face what will I do and what is the etiology behind it.

DDV, MBBS

Use oil control face washes. Take food rich in vit a like papaya spinach carrots. Teke vit a supplements. Get them removed from a dermatologist periodically. They are blocked sebaceous glands due to overproduction of sebum.

I m suffering with chronic anal fissure. Is here any permanent treatment beyond surgery?

MBBS
General Physician, Faridabad
Self-help measures include: Increasing your daily intake of fibre by eating plenty of high-fibre foods, such as fruit, vegetables and wholegrain foods. Avoiding dehydration by drinking plenty of water. Trying to get more exercise – for example, by going for a daily walk or run. Working out a place and time of day when you can comfortably spend time on the toilet. Not delaying going to the toilet when you feel the urge. If you use wet wipes, avoid products that contain fragrance or alcohol, as this could lead to discomfort or itching. If you use toilet paper, use a soft brand and avoid wiping too hard. Soaking your bottom in a warm bath several times a day (particularly after a bowel movement), to relax the muscles in your anus.

Hello sir m getting more patches in body between legs and arms, Thigh please advice.

MD - Dermatology
Dermatologist, Pathanamthitta
It could b an infection or an allergy.Avoid tight undergarments. Wear loose cotton underclothes. Keep the private parts dry. Remove any form of moisture that accumulates. Change underclothes regularly. Reduce weight. Tinea is due to a fungal infection which grows in hot, humid, wet environments. You need to use antifungals.if u have an infection u wud require an antibiotic, anti fungal or even an antihelminth.if u have an inflammation,u vil need antiinflammatories.further history and examination can only give u a definite approach.

Please suggest me any cream or medicine for hard and rough skin. How to be fair and have a glowing face?

BHMS

Firstly start taking a full nutritious diet . A good diet is a nutritional lifestyle that promotes good health. A good diet must include several food groups because one single group cannot provide everything a human needs for good health. And what ever we are eating that reflects on our body and skin. 1. Homoeopathic medicine for fair skin is Berberis Aquafolium mother tincture.take 5 drops of it mix with water , twice a day. 2. Apply this tincture in diluted form on your face with cotton once a day . 3. wash your face with besan and curd , mix a pinch of turmeric also. 4. Apply Bio valley's skin lightening cream 5. Apply rose water to your face at night. 6. Apply cucumber juice+ lemon juice+ tomato juice on your back and neck. 7.Apply Multani mitti pack on the face, wash it off after it dries. Take care.

Hi. I have black spots all over my face which are due to body heat. I have used so many natural products but no special effect. My face color also darken due to those spots. I want some natural process that will help me to clear these spot marks. Could you please suggest me something valuable?

Take 1 tablespoon of milk powder and mix it with one tablespoon of honey, one tablespoon of lemon juice and half tablespoon of almond oil. Mix all the items well, make it a paste and apply it on your face and neck daily and wash after an hour. It will give you a perfect glowing skin. Turmeric is good ingredient for skin. Make a facepack with mixture of turmeric and milk. Apply this and wash off after an hour with cold water for glowing skin. Lemon juice and glycerin work nicely for dry skin whereas fuller’s earth and turmeric are used for oily skin. Take one tomato, grate it well and mix it with 3-4 drops of lime juice. Apply it on your face wait for 15 minutes and then rinse it off. Repeat it daily and feel the change on your face. Soak 4-5 almonds in milk overnight. In the morning make a paste of them and apply it on your face and rinse it off after an hour or two. You will definitely feel the glow on your face in less then 15 days. (you can add honey, oats and yogurt for quicker results) Prepare a fine paste of ripe papaya, oatmeal powder, milk cream and honey. Cover your face with this paste for 15 minutes. Wash it off with water. Apply buttermilk to skin, keep for 10 minutes and then wash off thoroughly for softening, cleansing and radiating effect.

Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS), MD - Ayurveda

Black spots are mainly due to udavarta (improper functions of all vaat). Its mainy due to 1) dharniya vega (urges, should b controled, but you arent) like chinta-stress, bhaya-fear, shoka-, krodha-short temper, maan- ego, lobha-greedy etc mental condition you should control your self 2) adharniya vega (urges that shouldnt be controlled, but you are controling) like sleep, urine, stool, hunger, thirst, yawn, sneeze, vomit etc. Main treatment is to stop causative factor among this. Also there are some ayurveda medicine, lepa-cream, face treatment, or panchkarma (detoxification) will definately help you.

Everyone has a favourite face cream or treatment, but beautiful skin starts with nourishment from within. Older cells are constantly shed and replaced by younger ones and a steady supply of micronutrients is essential to support this rapid growth. Eat the correct balance of foods and you'll feed your skin the vital nutrients it needs to help it stay soft, supple, glowing and blemish-free.---------------------------------- homoeopathic treatment aucare complexion drops (wolfe dietri) drink 20 drops in 20 ml fresh water 3 times daily. My wife has breast pain since last week. Our last child was born on January 2010 and she is not pregnant either. She have hyperthyroidism.

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology
Gynaecologist, Mumbai
Pain in mammary gland during and after menses is very common and is related to hormone progesterone, which deposits extra water in breasts causing it pain. If the problem is too severe then 3 months course of medicine (low dose oc pills) can bring down the pain. Also you can take pain killers during that time.

Whether enlargement of prostrate is harmful? How to prevent enlargement of prostrate in men and remedy the already enlarged prostrate?

BHMS
Homeopath,
Dear lybrate user, benign hypertrophy of prostate is a non-cancerous enlargement of the prostate gland. In this clinical condition multiple nodules are formed inside the prostate gland. These nodules often compress the urethra resulting in the narrowing of the lumen of urethra & producing a resistance to the urine flow. Resistance to urine flow requires the bladder to work harder during voiding, possibly leading to progressive enlargement, instability, or weakness of the bladder muscle. Benign hypertrophy of prostate can be easily diagnosed by an usg of whole abdomen along with blood test for prostate specific antigen (psa). Follow the given medication as directed:- 1) 5 drops of homoeopathic causticum 30 at early morning daily before brushing teeth 2) 5 drops of homoeopathic conium mac 30 before going to bath daily. 3) 5 drops of homoeopathic baryta carb 30 just one hour before dinner daily. 4) homoeopathic mother tincture sabal serrulata q, 30 drops, twice daily, after meals, in a cup of water. Along with the aforesaid medication few changes in your lifestyle are also necessary. Lifestyle alterations to address the symptoms include decreasing fluid intake before bedtime, moderating the consumption of alcohol and caffeine-containing products, and following a timed voiding schedule. Also it would be better if you could void the urine in sitting position.
