Hot packs are very effective
Hot packs are very effective as they dilate blood vessels and increase blood flow, delivering needed nutrients and oxygen to cells in the area being heated, aiding the removal of cell waste and promoting healing.

I am unable to write with my hand from 3 months. If I try to write now it start shaking. Is there any solution for this problem.

MD - Psychiatry, MBBS
Psychiatrist, Patna
The problem is of recent onset. At this age neuronal disease is unlikely. Hence it may be anxiety or substance use. Stop alcohol if you are abusing. If you have other features of anxiety like dry mouth and throat, excessive sweating, fast heart beat, difficulty breathing, dizziness along with inability to relax and excessive worries then consult a psychiatrist. Mri brain will be helpful to rule out any underlying pathology in brain. Treatment is possible and you will be alright. All the best.

My wife has been sufferring from migraine pain since last ten years. The pain occurs sometimes once in a weak and sometime more and less then that. Is there any treatment available so that at least the frequency of occurrance of the pain can be reduced.

MBBS
General Physician, Delhi
You have asked a very good question. Bcoz a lot of people specially female are suffering from migraine and people generally do not know what to do. I am sure your wife might be taking some pain killers following the attack but taking these medicines will not reduce the frequency of the attack. There are certain medications like amytrptalline, propranolol, flunnarizine any many like these which can reduce the frequency. I suggest you to visit a nearby physician so that one can examine your wife properly first then they can prescribe these medications. But thet have to be taken for a longer duration for about 3 months or so daily. I personally feel that your wife's headache frequency will reduce. Even I can also start this treatment but first it needs a thorough examination. Thanks for asking.

MD - Homeopathy

Migraine also known as vascular headache. The cause is unknown but the factors triggering it are pretty clear like stress, loss or over sleep, skipping a meal or overeating, tiredness, over exertion etc. So as a first option try to minimise these to none. For treatment the best option is homeopathic as it gives permanent relief and that is without any adverse reaction. But to treat judiciously it is advisable to consult properly. Till then you can try taking sanguinaria (homeopathic).

My father had a fall 3 months ago on the road and he had a surface head injury. Immediately I had him hospitalized. CT scan was normal. His BP had dropped but with drip it was back to normal. But he has constantly been reporting Vertigo. We have had multiple sessions with a Neurosurgeon who reported everything normal. What is the next course of action.

The most common cause of vertigo after a fall or trauma in elderly is bppv (benign paroxysmal positional vertigo). If the vertigo is more on turning in bed or getting up from bed and lasts for few seconds to minutes, then this could be his diagnosis. A simple positional test by an ent can confirm this followed by some exercises which can solve the problem.

Persistent bad breath or a bad taste in the mouth may be a warning sign of gum (periodontal) disease. Gum disease is caused by the buildup of plaque on teeth. Bacteria cause the formation of toxins to form, which irritate the gums. If gum disease continues untreated, it can damage the gums and jawbone. Other dental causes of bad breath include poorly fitting dental appliances, yeast infections of the mouth, and dental caries (cavities). The medical condition dry mouth (also called xerostomia) also can cause bad breath. Saliva is necessary to moisten the mouth, neutralize acids produced by plaque, and wash away dead cells that accumulate on the tongue, gums, and cheeks. If not removed, these cells decompose and can cause bad breath. Dry mouth may be a side effect of various medications, salivary gland problems, or continuous breathing through the mouth. Many other diseases and illnesses may cause bad breath. Here are some to be aware of: respiratory tract infections such as pneumonia or bronchitis, chronic sinus infections, postnasal drip, diabetes, chronic acid reflux, and liver or kidney problems. You can buy a number of mouthwashes that claim to eliminate bad breath. However, many of these generally provide only a temporary way to mask unpleasant mouth odor. There are, however, several antiseptic mouth-rinse products that kill the germs that cause bad breath. Ask your dentist about which product is best for you.
