At the age of 21 yrs body growth is complete ,so there is no chance of further increase in height .Myopic power is inherited from either mother or father side & is basically hereditary in nature ,maximum increase in myopic power takes place between 13 to 21 yrs in male & between 13 yrs to 19 yrs in female because maximum body growth takes place between these periods. There is no direct medicine to check the increase in myopic power but with the help of balanced diet ,green vegetables & seasonal fruits  one can slow the speed in the increase of myopic  power, one can take the help of yoga pranayam, swimming, gym &these things definitely slow the speed of increase in myopic power.

How to maintain my eyes glass power? Because its increasing year by year. Please advise.
Whats your age? eye power generally stabilizes by the age of 20 years. So if you are below 20 you have to wait and if you are above 40 then it might be due to cataract. For betterment of your eyes have more green vegetables and carrots in your diet.

My lens power is: please please right: +2. 5 cylindrical and +2. 0 spherical please please left: -0. 75 please what should I do to reduce the right eye power?

MBBS, MS - Ophthalmology

The number can be corrected by use of specs, contact lens but cannot be reversed back to normal. However, it can be removed completely by lasik. Its safe and effective. For more details, visit at http://ravieyefoundation. In/services/refractive-surgeries

There is a problem in my eyes I can not see anything. After sunset. How can I do.

There is a problem in my eyes I can not see anything. After sunset. How can I do.
Hi. Night blindness is a condition that makes it difficult to see in low light. The human eye got a very sophisticated system which can function from very dark to very bright light. But in the case of night blindness, the eyes fails to adapt to darkness. Night blindness can be an early sign of vitamin A deficiency, often the result of a diet lacking in vegetables containing beta-carotene, which the body can make into vitamin A. A lack of zinc can reduce retinol dehydrogenase, an enzyme needed to help vitamin A work in the eye. Zinc helps night blindness in those who are zinc-deficient. Most people don’t get enough zinc in their diets. Vitamin A is found naturally in many foods: cod liver oil, liver, sweet potato, carrot, broccoli, butter, kale, spinach, pumpkin, Cheddar cheese, egg, apricot, papaya, mango, pea, milk, tomatoes, seaweed.

I am having glaucoma in both eyes both eyes have been operated for cataract I am 77 years of age I am using 0.1mg/ml lumigan daily at 9 pm any other advice.

MBBS, DOMS
Ophthalmologist, Hyderabad
If your eye pressures are under good control with lumigan eye drops, it is well & good. Use the drops at night everyday, without a miss. Recommended frequency of eye pressure verification is every 3 months. Visual fields (humphrey's) should be done every 6 months, to make sure that there is no progression of the condition. If you have additional risk factors like diabetes and high blood pressure, they too need to be under proper control, obviously. With these measures, you can be sure of maintaining very good vision for your entire life!

Hi I have cholesterol. Tremor in hand, gas, eye irritation, can not look in bright light, sound in ear.

Certified Diabetes Educator, Registered Dietitian (RD), PGDD, Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery (B.U.M.S), General Physician
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Mumbai
Too much cholesterol in the blood can lead to cardiovascular disease. What you eat has a direct impact on your cholesterol level. In fact, a diet rich in fiber and other cholesterol-lowering foods may help lower cholesterol as much as statin medication for some people. Working with a registered dietitian and doctor is the key to develop and maintain a successful health program to manage it. I will inform you on how to make diet, lifestyle changes, make you understand instructions for taking medication because it won't work if you don't take it as directed. Consult privately for a holistic dietary therapy to solve your problems.

unfortunately there are no natural medications to remove spectacles permanently. you can either try contact lenses or plan for refractive lasik laser surgery.. but your number is also very less for lasik surgery, so just wear your glasses or contact lnes

Corneal Ulcer - Can It Lead To Blindness?

MBBS, MS - Ophthalmology
Ophthalmologist, Ghaziabad
Corneal Ulcer - Can It Lead To Blindness?

Antrior most transparent layer of the eye is called cornea. It is an extremely useful layer for refraction and protection of eye. Any trauma, foreign body or chemical etc can invade the integrity of this layer and can be invaded by bacteria, fungus or virus, resulting in the corneal ulcer. Sometimes, due to hypoxia induced by contact lenses too can result in a corneal ulcer.

Depending on clinical presentation, a doctor diagnoses the cause of the ulcer and start the therapy. Since the transparency of cornea is very important, a doctor starts very intensive therapy. With repeated frequent checkups if a proper and intensive therapy is not given, the ulcer can progress and can cause collection of pus in the anterior chamber which if not attended properly, can cause the infection to travel into the interior of the eyeball (vitreous chamber) resulting in total blindness. The ulcer can become deeper and lead to perforation of the cornea, causing severe damage to the eye and may require removal of pus (evisceration) or total removal of the eye ball.

Generally, fungal ulcers are more dangerous and occur mostly in rainy season.

  • It is imperative that a case of corneal ulcer is diagnosed promptly and very intensive treatment proper treatment is given to save the disfigurement of the eye and total irreparable blindness.
  • At times we have not only to give topical drops but oral therapy has to be given. Injections in the eye have to be given. Culture sensitivity has to be done in severe cases to identify the causative organism.
  • In extremely severe cases, we have to perform, therapeutic keratoplasty.

Conclusion: Corneal Ulcer is a serious challenging problem with the potentiality to cause total and irreparable blindness and must be attended promptly by a very expert ophthalmologist to save the eye. In case you have a concern or query you can always consult an expert & get answers to your questions!
