Planning for Pregnancy? Preconception Health Is Equally Important as Health During Pregnancy

Pregnancy should not be considered a nine month journey, but a year long journey. Knowing that the first few weeks of pregnancy are the most vital to the development of the baby, a mother should be healthy and avoid any harmful activities and substances near the time of conception. The future health of a baby is decided even  before  conception. The baby'shealth depends on your preconception health. Planning a baby is a demanding task, but if you plan it well you will have a healthier and easier pregnancy. Following these simple guidelines can help you prepare for pregnancy.               

 First lets talk about the healthy habits that should be followed:·        

1. Exercise – Start exercising now. You have to decide dependingupon your present weight whether you want to lose weight, gain weight,build muscle, or improve lung capacity. Some good exercise options include walking, swimming, bicycling, and aerobics. Yoga is an excellent choice for exercise because it incorporates posture,breathing, and concentration techniques which will be beneficial for youduring labor.   

2. Read – Get yourself educated and prepared by reading books on pregnancy and child birth. 

3. Track your menstrual cycle – This is very important. Your doctor will ask you about your menstrual cycle, so you need to be prepared. Keeping track of your cycle will also help you track your ovulation and increase your chance of pregnancy. 

 4. Practice relaxation techniques – Relaxation can help minimize stress. Try yoga,meditation, or listening to soft relaxing music in a warm bath. 

5. Get lots of sleep – Eight hours of sleep is recommended if you are trying to become pregnant. Adequate amounts of sleep can also help relieve stress and tension. 

6. Eat healthy – Nutrition is vital to your health. The healthier you are the easier the pregnancy will be for you. Make sure that you are getting lots of vitamins in     your diet, and start taking folic acid now. Studies have shown that folic acid (300-400mcg a day)     can help reduce the risk of neural tube defects when taken before     conception. Just make sure to tell your health care provider about any supplements you are taking.     

7. Up-to-DateVaccination - Make sure your vaccination is complete. Vaccination againstrubella and flu are very important. It is also important to maintain a gap ofat least one month between your rubella shot and pregnancy planning.·       

 8. Optimize your Medical Condition- If you have Hypertension, Diabetes, Asthma, Epilepsy or any other medicalcondition you must take complete advice from the physician. Blood pressure andsugar levels have to be under full control. The type and dose of the drug mayneed modifications.·        

9. Check Family History - Ask your parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters, aunts andcousins about any health problems in the family like genetic problems, mentalretardation or malformations in babies. This can help your Gynaecologist todetermine which problems to look for and how to prevent it. ·       

10. Visit your Doctor - Carry a record of your medical conditions, family history and achecklist of your queries. Get tested for Blood Group, Thalassemia, HIV,Thyroid Levels, and Blood Sugars. 

Now lets see the habits that are harmful and should be completely avoided: 

1. Smoking  can cause low-birth weight babies, preterm deliveries, and 10% of all infant deaths. So quit smoking

2. Drinking  Alcohol – There is no safe amount of alcohol to consume while you are pregnant. Recreational drug  use during periconception  period can increase the chance of miscarriage, low birth-weight, premature births, developmental delays, and behavioral and learning problems.

 3. Prescription Drugs – There are many prescription drugs that are teratogenic (cause birth defects). Talk with your healthcare provider about any and all prescription drugs you are taking.  

4. Avoid Exposure to - Harmful chemicals, metals and toxic substances at workplace and home that could be potentially teratogenic. For example, most studies show that the greatest risk of  exposure to pesticides     is during the first three to eight weeks of the first trimester when the neural tube( that gives rise to     future brain and spinal cord development is occurring.) This is often before a woman knows she is pregnant.  

5. Protect yourself from infections. Stay away from cats Stress – Stress has been linked to delayed or missed periods which can cause difficulty tracking ovulation and getting pregnant. 

6. Limit your amount of stress as much as possible. You may find it helpful to employ relaxation techniques or yoga to help moderate your stress level. You might need to change your work hours or may be change the job profile. You will also need someone to help you out with the household chores  around this time. 

7. Herbs – Most herbs and herbal remedies are not mandated by the FDA, and therefore,there is little to no research on the effect they have on pregnancy. Discuss any herbal or natural remedies you may be using     with your healthcare provider.

8. Caffeine – Few studies have shown that there may be an increase in miscarriages among women who consume more than 200 mg   (one 12oz cup of coffee) a day versus those who do not consume any caffeine.

At the end if you follow the above guidelines you can have relatively  trouble free pregnancy and a healthy baby  that every pregnant woman aspires for.

Kindly get an xray done. For the same and check for the depth of the cavity. If cavity is deep you might have to get a root canal treatment done and if not deep then filling would help u.

Dear to decrease your weight you have to do work out daily. Try the remedies below they can help u. 1. Mix three teaspoons of lemon juice, one teaspoon of honey, and one-half teaspoon of black pepper powder in one glass of water. 2. Drink it in the morning on an empty stomach. 3. Do this daily for at least three months. 4. Drink mint tea or make a paste of green mint with some simple spices and eat during meals. 5. Eat vegetables such as bitter gourd and drumsticks to control obesity. 6. Do bhujang asana, dhanurasana, naukasana, kumbhakasana, pavanamukthasana daily 10 min per asana. 7. Do running early morning daily and join aerobics in evening. 8. Avoid oily and fried foods, processed foods, fatty foods like butter, purified butter, cheese, whole-milk yogurt, cream, chocolate, etc. 9. Hi, I appreciate you seeking help. First and foremost, I would advise you to remain mentally strong and think positive. In order that you are not obsessively compelled to think negative and imagine stuff, it is important for you to assure yourself time and again that everything is perfectly ok and distract yourself by visualizing or doing something meaningful, relaxing and one that gives you a sense of inner strength and positive energy/ vibes. Remember, its only a fear, which in your case seems mostly to be related to a negative thought that something might go wrong, that you need to dispel off and understand clearly that there is absolutely nothing in reality to be afraid about. Do have strong belief in yourself, and try performing to the best of your abilities irrespective. Also, whenever it suits, listening to a soothing and inspiring music also helps you to stay calm and relaxed. Do plan your day, listing out the things to be achieved and get going about them one by one confidently without being overly anxious of the results. Simultaneously, do be on a healthy and balanced diet with focus on leafy greens and fresh fruits. Take plenty of water daily and stay hydrated. Keep your lifestyle streamlined and do walking/ exercise, yoga etc all in fresh air. Get yourself exposed to the early morning sunlight for 5 to 10 minutes daily. Keep your stress levels low and stay relaxed and focused. Enjoy your favorite yet light weight films/ serials/ cartoons etc all as you like to watch and get some interesting yet light stories to read while you retire to bed. You may take a glass of warm milk with a pinch of fresh turmeric powder and a tsp of honey mixed to the same, at bed time. At the same time, I would advise you to meet a psychologist in person should you not get relief still. He/ she may require prescribing you an anxiolytic suitably that you can use for a couple of days and one that helps tranquil your mind and help you control your thoughts. Hope this helps. I have Herpes Simplex Virus Type 1 genitally, and I want to know how it can be transmitted. Herpes can spread by having vaginal, anal, or oral sex with someone who has the disease. Fluids found in a herpes sore carry the virus, and contact with those fluids can cause infection. You can also get herpes from an infected sex partner who does not have a visible sore or who may not know he or she is infected because the virus can be released through your skin and spread the infection to your sex partner. Using condoms may help lower this risk but it will not get rid of the risk completely. Having sores or other symptoms of herpes can increase your risk of spreading the disease. Even if you do not have any symptoms, you can still infect your sex partners.

How to avoid hair loss and what are side effects of hair transplant and is pain occur during hair transplant.
Hi. It's normal to lose up to 100 hair per day, and in most people, those hairs grow back. But many men -- and some women -- lose hair as they grow older. You can also lose your hair if you have certain diseases, such as thyroid problems, diabetes, or lupus. If you take certain medicines or have chemotherapy for cancer, you may also lose your hair. Other causes are stress, a low protein diet, a family history, use of bore water, or nutritional deficiencies. Need to rule out any causative factor or underlying medical condition. Management: Take diet rich in protein like non-veg, eggs (it's loaded with essential nutrients such as proteins, vitamin b12, iron, zinc and omega 6 fatty acids in large amounts and biotin), different pulses & legumes, sprouts, nuts (sp. Walnuts and almonds); iron-rich food like green vegetables, dates, carrots, prunes, green peas; also oats, shrimp, take flaxseeds, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, green tea, soyabean, fruits, salads, etc. Take low-fat dairy products (they also contain whey and casein, two high-quality protein sources) take proper 6-9hrs of sound sleep. Give up the habit of smoking and excessive alcohol intake. Avoid junk food and any kind of beverages (tea, coffee, aerated drinks, cold drinks, etc.) avoid canned/ tinned food or food that contains preservatives (eat fresh ones). Avoid use of hard water to wash the head rather use boiled water for head wash. Avoid use of harsh hair colour, hair treatment like rebonding, straightening, perming, etc. Avoid vigorous exercises or any supplements provided by the gym! cover your head with scarf or cap while stepping outside. Use rose wood/ any wooden hair comb to brush your hair. Regularly massage head and hair with coconut oil, almond oil (depending upon your scalp type) 1 to 3 times a week. Regular exercising is also one of the important point, but should be done under some good, qualified yoga teacher or instructor for proper guidance; it also releases the stress/ tension in the mind and the body and keeps you fit and young! Medication: Take homoeopathic medicines - Schwabe's Wiesbaden 200 & Alfalfa tonic twice a day for 1 month and revert. Use Schwabe's Arnica shampoo and Hair Growth oil regularly as per the condition of your scalp (minimum 3 times a week). After shampooing, use Bakson's Arnica hair conditioner as well after every head wash. Beside this, you can take one tablet of multivitamin Folli Hair once daily for 1 month. ****Hair Transplant is done under Local Anaesthesia and the surgeon prescribes you pain killer and antibiotics for 3 days, so it depends upon your threshold for pain!!*******

Hello.. Mouth ulcers results in erosion of part of the delicate tissue that lines the inside of the mouth. It may be due to accidental bite of the cheek(mostly), certain drugs, chemicals and infectious diseases such as herpes or thrush. In most cases, mouth ulcers are harmless and resolve by themselves in a few days without the need for medical treatment. Consult your Doctor if your mouth ulcers don’t clear up within a few days, or if you are troubled by frequent attacks and if painful. Generally, stress can cause aphthous ulcers, you can have multivitamin supplements, and drinking lot of water, fruit juices can help you.

Eggs. Eggs are a good source of protein and biotin. Almonds, Nuts and Legumes. Nuts and nut-based butters such as peanut butter are high in nutrients, fiber, protein, biotin and vitamin E. In particular, almonds are great for a healthy scalp and hair. Whole Grains. Milk and Meat. You need to have all these for healthy hair growth. And these are as well as sources of Biotin too.
